We found everything that the other reviewers have said to be true. The property is clean, well stocked, and comfortable, and Bill is a wonderful and thorough host. The kitchen in particular has everything you could want in a guest house, but my favorite room was the sun room. The space heater made it especially cozy in the mornings while we were drinking coffee and in the afternoons while we played board games. We did hear the sounds from the trap shooting range nearby on a couple of nights, but the sound wasn't very loud, and they were done there by 9:00 p.m. both nights. It wasn't a problem at all. If you're a sensitive sleeper, you might hear some of the lower-flying planes from Rockford Airport at night. There weren't that many, though, and I think they were noticeable only because the property is so very quiet otherwise. On the nights I took allergy medication before bed, I was knocked out and didn't hear them once. :D I mention this only because I'm a lousy sleeper and I usually do not sleep well on trips at all. I hope the fact that I got as much rest as I did on this trip tells you just how peaceful Bill's guest house is. This was a great place for a leisurely vacation.

This was our second time here. First time was in the spring and we had such a nice time, we came back to see the fall leaves. Perfect place to relax from hectic lives. Bill is a great host. Everything is clean and well maintained. Having coffee in the morning watching the river drift by and the various birds calling and flying along the river. It is an ideal retreat.

Easy to get to close to town nice little cottage house on the rock river kitchen stocked all seems updated Bill was available for any questions and bringing our dog made the stay better loved the 3 season sunroom and procate back yard

This was our second visit to this property. It is exactly as pictured and even had an improved living room area with comfortable seating and a large TV. This home has all you need if you want to stay in and relax and is also close to surrounding attractions. The fenced in yard is lovely and well-kept. The host (Bill) is a delight. He makes check-in/check-out easy and clearly cares that you enjoy your stay. We plan on making this an annual trip!

Bill was very responsive to any calls/texts with any questions I had. The cabin is very clean and in a great location if you’re trying to get away from the busy city. If you want to enjoy a few days of relaxing, this is the place for you.

Communication with Bill was great! Home was clean and cozy. Nice to have a view of the river from the kitchen, dining area and the all-season porch. The flowers were blooming and the hummingbirds where enjoying them. Saw a bald eagle about 5 different times. The best was when it swooped down to the river to get it's meal!

We wanted to get away from the 4th of July fireworks with our dogs. We had such a nice (almost fireworks free) quiet and peaceful time. There were a few fireworks in the distance but not like a war zone in my neighborhood, Chicago. The owner was so nice and welcoming. The house was beautiful.

We had a great short two day vacation. This is a quiet spot on the river but going North or South your just a beautiful drive away from wonderful small towns with great restaurants. We will be back soon.

We loved everything about this property. My wife liked it so much that she wanted to stay forever!!! It was the perfect size for us and our 2 dogs. Our dogs loved the fenced in yard and would watch the water fowl swim by all day.The home has all the amenities that you could ask for while on vacation and the owner communicated in advance everything we needed to know about the property. We would highly recommend this property to any looking for quiet place on the river, where you can fish, watch the bald eagles fly by or just sit in the backyard and relax with your family. This home is clean and comfortably furnished. Loved all the sunlight, flowers, and unobstructed views. Back yard ends at the Rock River and we spent a lot of time looking at that view from the screened-in porch. Truly enjoyed our stay. Thank you Bill.

We are returning guests and are always delighted with the cottage. This visit was no exception! Every room was decorated for the Holidays and that put us in the spirit of the season regardless of the weather.

We really enjoyed our stay! It was relaxing and quiet. Just what I needed. I was able to bring my fur babies, so I wasn't stressed worrying about them. It was a quick drive along the river to the little town of Byron, where we found a brewery and great pizza. I highly recommend this cottage.

Everything was as advertised. Yes there was a shooting range making some noise one day as mentioned in the listing, but not a big deal since we were ready for that. The house is nice and well cared for, and great communication. Very relaxing stay, nice river view.

Our family had a wonderful weekend here. The area itself was nice and secluded, just what we wanted. The view of the river was amazing. Loved the little dock to fish off of and caught a few bass and a carp. Yard was perfect for our little dog, it was all fenced in so we didn't have to worry about her wandering off. The house itself was very well kept and clean. No issues at all. The owner Bill was very friendly and made sure everything was taken care of, great communication. Such a quiet place. The host made our family feel welcome before we even arrived. The house is bright, modern, and clean, with a modern kitchen. A comfortable three-season sunroom offered a great view of the Rock River. Our pups were able to get comfortable in the fenced-in yard. Once, or twice a day, a jet passed over, but that was about it as far as noise went. It was a very restful weekend, and I think all of us left feeling recharged.

The home was just as advertised. Fishing was fun as was airplane watching. Great communication with the owner. Priceless fenced in back yard for the dogs left us free to enjoy the river. We would definitely like to return.
