It's very clean and quiet here. It's conveniently located within walking distance of restaurants and coffee shops plus the BEACH. The weather was tempermental and was sunny, windy, and foggy in the days we stayed. The kids enjoyed the netflix access on the smart TVs and wifie. However, netflix was intermittent something due to the strength of Wifi in the Shack I think. This was ok because they should not be glued to TV in a beautiful spot like this. The master has a TV with a DVD player and lots of DISNEY movies. This was a nice suprise for my younger son. Note:please obtain correct cables though for the TV/DVD connection because it is not the correct type and the videos do not play in color. I think you need RGBY type cables and all that is there is yellow and white.I would recommend evaluating whether or not check in can be earlier than 4pm since checkout is at 10a. This seems like an odd time of day for checkin.

Decorated nicely and we did not need to much extras as the place provided cookware and wine openers throws and wifi ect. We ate at a near by restaurant, Waterside Restaurant & Wine Bar. It was really good and they had live music. My only complaint was upon leaving you are required to pull off all of the linens off all the beds and we only used 2 beds but we took them off all four beds. We also had to gather all towels and wait for them to wash to put them in the dryer. This is not a problem unless you read the paper when you were ready to leave and had to wait 46 min for the washer to end. It was a little frustrating but overall not a deal breaker.

It has excellent access to the beach and some views of the water from the upper level. The house is super cute and very comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked. We were only 3, but you could easily have two couples and a few kids stay here together. There's no yard or outside area, but you can be on the beach in seconds. Oxnard is also a great area: bike trails, a park nearby, and beautiful beaches that are never crowded. And the quaint downtown area of Ventura is just up the road.

I will start out by saying, we made every effort to find the silver lining with our stay. Unfortunately and fortunately, due to various concerns, we spent most of our stay outdoors and away from the property. We enjoyed the gorgeous scenic drive to the Hollywood Shack which was a short 50 minute ride from our place. When we arrived, it was unclear where our designated parking spot(s) were. We parked in front of the garage/master bedroom for the better portion of the trip. Not sure if this is an actual parking spot but we made due. We did a quick walk through of the property before unloading our car. We were surprised to find what looked like mouse droppings on the bathroom floor and both downstairs bedrooms! I immediately started sanitizing the entire house and cleaning the “already cleaned and sanitized” property. When we booked our stay, we planned on having family join us. Unfortunately, after finding mouse droppings, I was embarrassed to have anyone stay. I called property management and informed them of my findings. They offered to have an exterminator come by to inspect the area? I don’t know what they found or if they took added measures to ensure our unwanted guests wouldn’t make an appearance during our stay. We did not get a call with the outcome. I was exhausted and did not want to spend my entire trip voicing my concerns about the shack so I decided to move forward and tried to make the best of the situation. The location was perfect! We walked on the beach the first night of our stay and every morning/evening for the duration of our stay. We enjoyed the Ventura and Channel Islands harbors too. The balcony views were breathtaking. We enjoyed watching the sunset from there and on the sand throughout our trip. I did not sleep well because I was nervous about the possibility of waking up to a furry friend staring back at me. The property management did offer to have housekeeping come back to clean the place again. I declined their offer because I did not have much confidence in their definition of clean and had already cleaned the house again myself. The cleaning crew had been there the day prior to our check in. I washed every towel in the place and stripped our bed and washed the sheets on there as well after I found mouse droppings on the bed too! Aside from the mouse issue, the house was charming and could have been cozy. It’s a cute place and the location does not get any better. We will opt to pass on this one next time.

The only inconvenience is that the master bedroom does not have a bathroom. But, that didn't cause too much of a problem. A lot of VRBO's require some go-with-the-flow adjustments. Overall the property is remarkable. We walked to the ocean with our morning coffee and sat on the deck with wine to watch the sunset. We have three adult children, (2 married +1), and they were excited about the quirkiness of the home. Well supplied, plenty of kitchen space to cook meals, and lots of inviting sitting areas; we used them all. Make sure to play a round of Scrabble upstairs. Great experience.

We had the most amazing stay! This beach house manages to squeeze charm, comfort AND an incredible amount of cozy sleeping spots into its small footprint. For us it was just perfect for two, close families of four. The decor is fresh, beachy and sweet without being saccharine. It was very well set up with appliances and basic necessities--and spotlessly clean. The management company was easy to reach and extremely personable, and we had zero issues during our stay. If you need a lot of space to spread out or have toddlers who love to climb (those double bunk beds are high!), you may want to keep looking, but for us it was absolute heaven. We will definitely be coming back if they will have us!

It has 5 very comfortable beds, 3 of them being bunk beds that the kids loved. Plenty of TV’s and games. Right across from the beach with great views of the ocean from the 2nd story patio. Unfortunately it rained when we went so we didn’t get to use the patio but that’s our fault for going in November (not usually an issue in Southern California). Would definitely recommend this place.

As we tell our kids, never judge a book by it's cover. The house is well decorated on the inside with ample space. The beds were very comfortable, and the kitchen was well equipped. And you really can't beat the location, literally across the street from the beach. Our only complaint is that the walls were a bit thin, and we could hear everything going on outside the house. Still, we would rent their again.

When we first found the property, our kids were less than impressed by the outside and suspected it might be haunted. Once we entered, their opinions changed. The house is well decorated and equipped, the beds are very comfortable, and the location to the beach can’t be beat. The kids enjoyed exploring all the books and crannies, as well as hanging out on the top level deck. We wouldn’t mind staying here again.
