First of all. Communication with Joe Rao (the owner), even before our stay, was excellent! A true gentleman. When my wife and I finally got to meet him upon our arrival, it was like meeting a long lost friend. He couldn’t be more accommodating with anything we needed, which was very little. Joe & his wife Pat had every necessity we needed there.
The cottage…it was so clean, you could eat off the floors. Over the years, my wife & I had stayed at so many places. You can tell when someone takes great pride in providing lodging. Joe & Pat are these people. The decor was so nice. Their attention to detail is spot on. They even had a framed welcome picture with our names on it, hanging on the wall in the kitchen as you walk in. That was such a wonderful touch. They had a three ring notebook full of information about the whole area (ie. Attractions, wineries, breweries, distilleries, eateries, etc.). They even had instructions for things for the cottage.
The cottage was a good size. We enjoyed fires in the fireplace and watching tv late at night. (There is also an outside fireplace). Very little steps to walk down to Lake Seneca. The view from this cottage to the lake is outstanding.
Location was excellent for exploring wineries & breweries. We even went to explore The Gorge in Watkins Glen.
My wife and I are already planning another trip to the Finger Lakes. At least we know where we will be staying.

We had a really nice stay at Joe's cottage. Right on the lake, great view! Got up and had our morning coffee by the lake. Centrally located to all the things to do in the area.
Joe was easy to reach and responsive and also provided fresh tomatoes and basil.
And, when we discovered we had left our jackets behind, he mailed them to us!

We were looking for a central location on the water and this cottage delivered. The cottage is small but ideal for a couple or family. It was very clean and had all the little extras that made it a great place to come back to after a day of hiking or biking. There are several options of places to sit for morning coffee or afternoon wine. The owner was extremely friendly and help make our stay so enjoyable. Next time we want to come at a different time to enjoy some of the great water activities available. A perfect vacation spot!

The cottage was exactly as advertised plus a great place from which to explore the region...especially Lake Seneca and Lake Cayuga. If you need a place just to sit and watch the water and enjoy sunsets this is it! Owner Joe was very welcoming and accessible. Stay here!

This was a great stay for us. Joe is amazing and the location is very quiet and relaxing. We loved sitting out by the dock and enjoying a snack at sunset. Great host.

We were thinking about a last minute getaway and Joe’s cottage was just what we were looking for! The cottage is lovely, clean, and equipped with everything. The patio, deck, and Lakefront were perfect for relaxing, with great views. Joe was easy to reach with any questions. We hope to visit again!

My husband and I traveled here from Michigan. Our daughter that lives in NYC joined us for part of the stay.
The place is small but immaculately clean. The owner, Joe, was so friendly and made sure we had everything we needed. The location is wonderful with only a short drive to Watkins Glen and Taughonnack State Park for hiking. There are also wineries and breweries and great restaurants nearby.
We highly recommend staying here for a small party!

What you see is what you get! This was the perfect cottage for me and my fellow travelers. We felt at home the moment we walked in the door. With the owner right next door, anything we needed was available. Allowing us to do our own cleaning was also a bonus--the cleaning fee savings is well worth it! We would definitely stay here again. Joe was terrible to communicate with tried to get around VRBO. Wanted everything in cash , had to go to bank and get money orders for everything. Joe was working in our backyard every night when we got home .the place stunk from all the seaweed he racked up. Joe had these stupid fake birds blowing around not seen in pictures and tin foil it was terrible.

We had the the best possible experience staying at Joe Cottage and would highly recommend it to anyone! Joe was great, very accommodating, and all around nice guy to meet! The cottage was great and has the most fantastic sunsets on the lake. The weather could not have been better and the fall foliage was stunning! Thank you Joe!

We were looking for a nice little cottage on a lake for a long awaited anniversary celebration. This was perfect! Right in the heart of wine country (for me) on a lake with great fishing (for hubby)! The property was exactly as described. Very comfortable cozy cottage just steps from beautiful lake Seneca! The cottage has everything you need for a comfortable stay - the bed was quite comfortable- the kitchen has all essentials and then some. Very well kept and since it was October we definitely needed the heat at night. Joe’s new heat pump unit works beautifully. And you couldn’t find a nicer more gracious host. We spent a half day fishing with Joe too! Caught my first lake trout ever … great experience and just magnificent scenery. In addition to the excellent wineries in the area we discovered several great restaurants right in nearby Geneva. It was a very relaxing and stress free week. Hope to make it back again some day!

This is one of the best VRBO spots I've ever been to! The house is very well kept, right on the water and has an exceptional location. Joe is a great host and this is the perfect place for a Finger Lakes adventure!

We had a great time at Seneca Lake and the surrounding area. Joe and Pat have an perfect lakefront cottage with everything you will need to feel right at home. The deck and dock are perfect for coffee, swimming, happy hour and sunsets. The property has beautiful flowers all around and a garden from which we were welcomed to help ourselves. The breezes and sunsets were so relaxing and we felt a warm welcome right away!! The area is gorgeous with lots to do. Waterfalls, wineries and breweries were fun and the lake was warm and so clear! Thank you Joe and Pat!!!

Stay was great. Would recommend to others and would stay there again. Also went fishing with Captain Joe which was great - caught several fish including a 8.25lb trout (Joe even cleaned our fish for us!! - great guy).

Joe, the property owner, is great - super responsive, very helpful and very nice. The cottage was immaculate and well taken care of. A little quirky of a layout (no door between main bedroom and living room and second bedroom reached through main bedroom) but worked ok for us. Beds were very comfortable. Kitchen well-stocked. Very quiet. And the view! Cannot say enough about the view! The sunsets were incredible! They seemed to last forever. The location was excellent. About 15 minutes to Geneva, with wineries and breweries even closer. The drive to Watkins Glen State Park (which is a must see) is about 45 minutes with wineries and breweries all along the way. We had Joe captain our fishing trip with his charter company and was a great time with all of us catching fish. And our sons very much enjoyed the tubing behind his boat that he offered for free (thanks Joe!). All in all, a very relaxing and enjoyable stay. We hope to go back!

Great Getaway
If you are looking for a clean, well kept, on the lake cottage, this place is for you! The owner, Joe, lives next door and is at the ready for any questions or needs you may have. He also respects your privacy and allows you freedom to go about your daily routines. There is a bbq to use, rentals for lake activities close by, games, movies, wi fi and cable included. The lake is feet away from the cottage and the area is extremely quiet and peaceful. Wineries, eateries, state parks and brewing companies are extremely close by. What a relaxing week we had! Highly recommend this cottage if it is peace and quiet you crave.

Delightful getaway on the lake
We felt truly welcomed, like old friends. The house was clean and cozy. We were very comfortable with all the amenities. We had a pleasant visit with a neighbor and Joe was wonderful. The lakeview was spectacular. We kayaked, played games on the picnic table. barbecued dinner, had our coffee on the deck in the morning. The binder of suggested activities was full of great ideas. We did visit a winery and have lunch at a castle! Beautiful area with lovely sunsets.

Perfect Relaxing Getaway
This is the perfect property to have a relaxing getaway. The cottage is immaculate while also being comfortable. The backyard is beautiful with a view of Seneca Lake. You can either sit down watching the sunset or do a little fishing - what a great way to be one with nature.
Joe is a wonderful host. He is friendly, kind, and want to make sure that you are as comfortable as possible - their welcoming book is so great that it contains all the information you need (great area restaurants, fishing, golf, and of course, information on the house itself). If you are into fishing, make sure to ask Joe to take you on one of his fishing trips - it will be one of the best ones you will ever have.

Relaxing, Fun Lake Vacation
We loved staying in this cute and comfortable lakeside cottage with great views. Outside, the large lakeside patio was perfect for coffee first thing in the morning. The patio felt very private and is screened from neighbors on one side by a fence and on the other by garden shrubs. The dock and swimming platform were great too. Inside, the cottage had everything we needed. It was HOT while we were there and the AC definitely did the trick. We quickly fell into a daily pattern something like this: coffee on the patio, hiking in the morning with our dog, come back for lunch and maybe a dip in the lake, sightseeing or trip to a local winery, dinner at the cottage or one of the tasty local restaurants. The binder in the cottage and the guest book both have good suggestions for dinner and things to do. The owner, Joe, checked in on us a couple times to make sure we had what we needed and otherwise left us to enjoy - which we did! Thanks for the great vacation!

Seneca Lake vacation
This was a wonderful place to stay on Seneca Lake. The views of the lake and the sunsets are simply outstanding. We especially loved all the outside seating areas. So peaceful and relaxing. Loved being able to grill our meals each evening. We really enjoyed wine tastings multiple days. The owner Joe lives next door to the property. He is an awesome guy. We can't wait to return next year!!

Amazing, relaxing lakeside cottage
Very clean, cozy, and comfortable; great covered patio, upper and lower decks, dock...and right into the lake. Beautiful views and sunsets. Rented kayaks and went tubing with Joe. Very close to wineries, breweries, restaurants, and Geneva. Highly recommend 3 Brothers/WarHorse and Belhurst. Extremely relaxing stay. Would love to come back.

Perfect place on Seneca Lake
The water view and access was incredible. The cottage is clean and cozy. The roof over the patio allows for outdoor dining and nature watching even on a rainy day. We loved Joe’s cottage.

Spring Getaway
The cottage is not by the like a lot of others in the are so it is quieter by the lake. The views from the deck and dock are fabulous. For being small, it has all of the amenities that you need for your stay.
