This is a beautiful house that many of us thought was even nicer than the photos. The number of bedrooms and bathrooms made it ideal for our large group (three families). It is beautifully decorated with an Adirondack theme. Being directly on Mirror Lake was a highlight as we able to take advantage of canoes and kayaks and paddle the lake. There is a well maintained sidewalk that goes completely around the lake, so getting around is easy. It is about a 20 minute walk into town (the house is on the North side of the lake, not on the South side like the map indicates). The owner was fantastic and quick to respond to any questions. We highly recommend this house if you're looking to enjoy Lake Placid and the Adirondacks.

It’s a beautiful lakefront property. Lots of space inside, quiet, close to restaurants, shops. Upon check-in, which was listed at 4 o’clock, we realized that the property including sheets, towels, refrigerator floors, bathrooms had not been cleaned at all. I contacted the property manager who told me that I should leave for a few hours win a cleaning person would come and not to come back until then and to go to a restaurant or shop. This was unhelpful as I had already done that during the day when you arrive at a property you want to unpack and situate yourself and maybe spend time there! The cleaning person arrived at 4:30, there had been a misunderstanding about the day, which is forgivable, however, we were confined to a living room space until 7:30 PM when she left so we could not eat, or cook, unpack, or use the facilities. After contacting VRBO, they said they would contact the host. However, we were unable to use the property until the evening, but we’re paying 500 a night for that. That is not acceptable at all, and no offer of compensation was provided to me the rest of the time in the property was very nice and it was a great house otherwise once we got clean bathrooms and sheets on our bed etc. and could use the refrigerator, kitchen etc.

A great house in a wonderful location. So nice to sit on the dock and enjoy the view of mirror lake. We’ve stayed here a few times and each time it’s been wonderful. Lots of space, and a great hot tub too!

Another fantastic vacation at Birches Lodge! You can’t beat the location right on the lake. The house has so much to offer for our family. This property is so clean too. It is easy to tell that you take pride in keeping the property in top shape. We love coming up to Lake Placid and are so happy with our stay here!

The home was absolutely wonderful! My wife, our five children and I could not have been more pleased with the choice. It was beautiful and comfortable. The location on Mirror Lake was idyllic. We loved it so much that we already booked our week for next summer! We could not imagine staying anywhere else in Lake Placid. Communication with Barb was superb, thank you so much!

This house was absolutely beautiful! It was by far the best VRBO home we have ever rented! From the adirondack decorations within the home, to the fully stocked kitchen, an extra fridge in the garage and the stunning view of the lake, it was an exceptional stay. House is better than the pictures ,bedrooms were great with the attached bath in each room. Had many rides in the canoe, paddleboard and paddle boat - so great to have them for our use. Hot tub was an great extra! Thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and will definitely rent this house again if we are in the Lake Placid area!

We loved the house! Very spacious and clean. Easy walk to restaurants and shops. We had a wonderful stay even though the weather did not cooperate.

Lake Placid is my favorite vacation destination and Birches Lodge was the perfect spot to share this area with friends. Well stocked kitchen, great layout, close to town, can't really think of anything that could be improved. Barb was very responsive to questions we had throughout our stay. Would 100% stay here again!

Barb and Rodney’s lakefront property was absolutely perfect for our stay. The house was ideally set up for families with spacious rooms and lots of common space. The outdoor hot tub was very clean and a great after a day of skiing or walking downtown. We came for a large scale international skating event and this house was ideally located so that we could walk to town if needed all while being out of the busy downtown area. We look forward to our next stay!

We loved the house and location- it’s absolutely beautiful! We entered and it was immediately warm and cozy with the Christmas Tree up and the fireplace in the family room. The space was great for us- we could have fit twice as many. We’d love to come back- this is a new favorite.

What a spectacular house directly on Mirror Lake! The house was warm, inviting and immaculate. The view of the lake was incredible, both on the main floor as well as from the second-floor suite. Loved being able to easily walk into town. It was convenient having 3 bedrooms with ensuites (plus two additional bedrooms and baths). We cooked most of our meals at the house, and the kitchen was well stocked with appliances, pans, and plenty of plates. Great outdoor space with the deck, hot tub and fireplace. Even saw the Milky Way from the backyard! Would highly recommend staying at this beautiful house.

We had another great stay here. Hiked Cobble Hill, walked around town, swam in the lake, read books on the deck, enjoyed a fire and the hot tub.

We absolutely love this house. This is our 2nd time visiting The Birches, and it was just as good this time as the first. A beautiful home in a wonderful location. We are group of 8, and there’s plenty of space inside and out for us all. Waking up each morning to that beautiful view across the lake is certainly priceless.

Our family of 5 adults and 3 children had a wonderful week exploring the area. We enjoyed the lake, outdoor fireplace, hiking and the Olympic Center. The house had everything we needed, and plenty of room for all. Highly recommend staying here!

Our family spent a week this July and we can’t wait to come back again. The home is so beautiful and the location on Mirror Lake was amazing for all things Lake Placid offers. We walked into town for shopping and dinner and walked around the lake each morning taking in the sunrise. Our kids has so much fun paddle boarding on the lake and enjoying evenings out in the deck by the fire. So relaxing for all of us and the constant calm breeze coming off the lake up to the house was heavenly. Amazing time, in a beautiful setting.

It was a joy being in Lake Placid and the house was the perfect place for us. The main floor of the house is spacious with a huge master bedroom and bath plus another bedroom with a double bed and bath. Three bedrooms, a small living room and bathrooms upstairs were perfect for the parents and children. There is a large deck with tables and chairs and lots of Adirondack chairs to relax in and look at lovely Mirror Lake. We especially enjoyed the lake as there is no motor traffic so it was perfect for swimming, kayaking (we brought our own), and we used their canoe and paddleboard. We could walk to town and even a walk around the lake is less than three miles. Would happily stay in this home again!

There isn’t much to say except this was simply amazing. The property was spotless upon arrival and the stay exceeded all our expectations. The location was also just as amazing and our family can’t wait to return next year!

The property itself is amazing- very close to town and as close to Mirror Lake as you can get. The house featured an all out Adirondack/rustic theme and fantastic decor and pictures throughout which we loved. We enjoyed using the canoe, fishing, swimming, the hot tub and the outdoor fireplace during our stay. We prepared some of our meals at the house and found the kitchen to be more than adequate. The bedrooms were all spacious and comfortable and it was a definite plus to have so many bathrooms available. A minor smoke detector battery issue came up and the owners were available right away to help us troubleshoot which was appreciated. Ahead of time- they were very prompt in replying to any questions. We would love to return, and would definitely recommend this property. Thank you for a lovely stay!

The best spot we could have picked for all of our activities! Everyone was able to sleep comfortably and had everything we could have needed on the house. Walking distance from the places he had booked as well as dining options. Excellent stay!

Fabulous location and great property, just needs a little tweaking in the kitchen, but that’s easy once reviewed (better coffee maker, water filter changed in refrigerator, check the DW and add a few more pans… needs larger fry pan and non scratched pans). Clean out duplicate items and replace with better quality in utensil department. Stove top might not heat properly., and hot water to master bath upstairs not abundant… These are just suggestions that some visitors might not notice, but with five kids along and exhausted after day skiing, we enjoy preparing meals in a minimally but well appointed kitchen. Easy to correct! And all in all, the house is lovely and we would certainly look forward to another visit. Thanks so much, happy holidays!

We stayed here during the village stroll with children. The house is beautiful and open. The photographs do not do this house justice. It was an easy 10 minute walk into town. The backyard views are excellent. The bedrooms are nice and spacious and the beds were very comfortable.

This was our second time staying at Barbara’s wonderful home. The location is an easy sidewalk walk into town. The house is very comfortable for our large family with 4 small grandchildren. The view of town is magical. We would love to come back!

We absolutely loved our stay at the house. Such a beautiful home and the best location. The storage room was great for storing all our extra stuff. We cooked each night in the kitchen which was well equipped. We loved the hot tub with the fabulous view of the lake.

Third year at this house & we love it. The house is fantastic and the surrounding area is gorgeous!

The house was perfect for our family. We enjoyed the paddle board, canoe and paddle boat. The hot tub was clean and perfect temperature. The house was clean when we arrived. We did have an issue with the wifi router not working, but it was being replaced after we left. The management company was at the house within 10 minutes to address the wifi issue. Very peaceful area of the lake. Hope to be back again.
