Hummingbird Cottage was lovely. We also loved the treehouse in the yard. Ventura was our last stop before catching a flight out of LAX. I would definitely stay here again. Sandra was easy to communicate with. The bed was comfortable. The cottage was decorated in an eclectic vintage style. The backyard and gardens were beautiful.

This cottage was perfect for us. It was just what we needed for our stay in Ventura. We really loved it, and next time we come here, we would stay again. The garden and mountains were beautiful. There is never a moment when you won't have a hummingbird around you.

The cottage was perfect for my wife and I, it was close to both Main Street with the shops and restaurants, as well as it is within walking distance to the beach. Wonderful time, and Sandra was very helpful in responding to our questions and needs.

Loved the place. Easy five minute walking distance to downtown Ventura. Very clean place and the host was great.

Quaint indoor spaces and ample outdoor spaces. Sandra was easy to reach for questions and requests. We didn’t use the bikes or sauna but they were nice perks! Hummingbirds, butterflies fountain and mountains in the distance were quite wonderful. Walkable to downtown restaurants and shops.

We were amazed! Everything from watching the birds bathe in the fountain, to the comfy beds and the fabulous fire pit area! We walked down the steps to a coffee shop every morning. The location is fabulous!

This was a perfect place to stay for a quick overnight stay. Small kitchenette with all amenities you wanted to make small meals. Spacious bathroom with complimentary toiletries. I bring everything I need but if you forgot something Sandra had you covered. Will definitely stay here again if traveling to Ventura in the future.

“The Hummingbird” is adorable and stocked with all sorts of goodies. Sandra adds so many extras, she really goes above and beyond. We arrived late to such a lovely presentation, with the lights dimmed and flickering like candles, cookies on the counter. Our dog had some health issues and Sandra went out of her way to help, calling her vet and getting us in ASAP. It’s rare in todays world to find someone who is so dedicated to making sure guests are well taken care of. Our stay was too short, can’t wait to return!

I have spent my entire career traveling , sometimes 3 weeks out of a month. So, I have very high standards of where I spend my time away from home . This was the most charming, perfect place to spend time . Everything was on point from home made cookies , a fridge with fresh fruit, eggs for Breakfast and creme for my morning coffee to a rubber duck greeting me. I wish I could say “….. but…..” however there is no “but “ for this hideaway. The host was a call away but I had no reason to call her. Truly, I could live there and when I am back visiting in Ventura I will live there. If I could give it more than 5 stars I would. This is a perfect getaway from the world. There was not one thing I would change ❤️❤️ I hope to get back soon

Our stay in the Hummingbird cottage was delightful! The place is tiny but very well appointed and has everything you need. The garden is amazing and gives you ample space to spread out of you need. We had a great time with great restaurants and parks within walking distance. We will definitely come back.

Loved the quiet cottage within walking distance of downtown Ventura. Easy to access all that Ventura has and a nice escape from hectic pace of life.

This was a beautiful spot, conveniently located, and overlooking the hills of Ventura. Sandra was a gracious host. She has a beautiful backyard with chairs and a fire pit which she opens to guests. There is also a treehouse you can stay in if the mood strikes. I highly reccomend this wonderful property.

Really neat little gem. Small but quite comfortable. There is some traffic noise (must be a lot of Harley’s in the area!) but not a big deal. Garden smelled great and awesome having bbq and fire pit. Bonus !

The cottage is situated behind the main house and surrounded by garden. A fountain trickles outside. It is a quiet, private spot yet within walking distance of downtown. Delightful place!

This tiny cottage is a lovely sanctuary to enjoy a glass of wine and watch the sun set behind the Ventura River Ridge. Peaceful and tidy, comfortable and safe. A lovely and kind host. I recommend the Hummingbird cottage highly.

I arrived one hour after check-in and the place wasn’t clean/ready. The door was open with a cell phone and used toilet paper roll on the table, beds unmade, used towels and linen, dirty kitchen. I had to look for the owner. I found her at the main house and let her know I had arrived and ask her to clean the place. She started cleaning while I waited. I felt uncomfortable because we couldn’t socially distance as the place is small so I went to the market to give her time to clean. I was trying to be accommodating but she still wasn’t done when I returned. At that point it was over two hours past check-in time. Unacceptable for her to do the cleaning so long past check in especially when she was charging a substantial cleaning fee! And when she finished there were still used blankets and a used face mask from the previous guests. It was sickening and unacceptable. I told her I couldn’t stay there under these conditions so she agreed to cancel my reservation and issue me a full refund. But two days later she sent me an email saying that a refund wasn’t warranted. What changed? So I had to pay for her place in addition to another hotel room I had to rent at the last minute that night. I spoke with a VRBO representative and they said I needed proof of the unacceptable conditions. They needed pictures. It never occurred to me to take any. I assumed Sandra would be honorable, take responsibility for her unacceptable rental and keep her word to cancel my reservation. She wasn’t truthful with me or VRBO. She told them that she was finishing the cleaning early, right after 3pm. That wasn’t true!! But it was my word against hers and I had no proof. I’m very disappointed with VRBO and disgusted with Sandra. This taught me a valuable lesson, take pictures of any rental in case there’s a discrepancy or problem. So let this be a cautionary tale for anyone who wants to stay at Sandra’s Hummingbird Cottage in Ventura. Beware!

We had such a relaxing little getaway here. The cottage is in a great location. Just a quick walk to all the restaurants, shops and the beach. Would totally recommend!

The cottage, tucked inside a converted garage, is cozy and nicely appointed with the basics. An electric two burner cooktop, a mini fridge, pots and pans, and a small sink make for an adequate kitchen, and a basic offering of spices and herbs can be found in cabinets. Cookies, bagels, cream cheese, eggs, and butter were provisioned, and were much appreciated. There's a sitting room with a love seat that flattens into a bed, a small dining table, a TV with Roku (not working when we were there), DVDs, local magazines, and a bottled water dispenser. The bedroom sports a tall, comfy bed, a wall-mounted TV with a built-in DVD player, and a small desk with fun books and other resources. Outside, the truly gorgeous yard was bursting with all kinds of flowers, and lots of birds, including hummingbirds. There's a staircase that leads down to a second level with lounge chairs, a fire pit (wood was provided), and a charcoal smoker/grill. You have to provide your own supplies for the grill. The property is atop a hill that overlooks the town, and one can enjoy early morning and evening views of mist rolling through the distant hills. The sounds of trains and traffic are masked by a cheerful burbling fountain just outside the cottage door. Sandy, the host, was responsive and gracious, offering lots of useful tips about local parks and resources. We really had a lovely experience and would gladly stay there again.

A charming find, close to everything yet tucked into a private little oasis. The pictures are accurate and so is the name, I was delighted to be visited by many hummingbirds.-something we don’t have in Hawai’i. If you want a host that you can communicate with you’ve found the right property. She even had local suggestions to make my sister’s birthday weekend more special!

The cottage was setup really nicely, but it was the backyard with the firepit that made the trip!

Very nice experience. Very small but we did not spend a lot of time inside. Beach equipment could use a little updating...stuff pretty worn. Could use a small dresser in bedroom for clothes instead of desk... no real space to put stuff .Loved the fire pit and all the beautiful flowers!!! Only complaint would be the traffic noise...finally just closed the windows and turned on fan. Grandson loved treehouse. Would return for sure. Thank you for a lovely experience.!!

Sandra was a wonderful communicator and lovely with her generosity by providing fruit and other edibles when we arrived. The place was small but just right for our needs as we were barely there. And when we were, we enjoyed sitting outside to read and drink coffee in the morning.

We had a fantastic time in this beautiful cottage. Used the kitchen, sat outside, walked to downtown Ventura, and had a guest use the treehouse.

We had an amazing stay at this property and found everything to be extremely comfortable, clean, and charming! Sandra was a very kind and responsive host- incredibly hospitable. We will definitely be coming back!
