From the property we observed a lot of wildlife, including white-tailed deer, wild turkeys, a bald eagle, osprey and heron. The house was charming, sprawling, light-filled, filled with lovely antiques and a well-supplied kitchen.
It was easy to drive into Arcadia Park from the house. We enjoyed riding 3-bikes on the carriage roads, walking atop Cadillac Mountain, hiking along the Ocean Path trail, and walking next door to Acadia Repertory Theater for a play. The farm market at Beech Hill farm was also worthwhile.
I hope we’re able to return to this great spot.

This house was perfect for our family girls trip with three generations. The kitchen was very well stocked. Five bedrooms gave us plenty of room to sleep comfortably. There are several sitting areas including a nice sun room and deck. The view was amazing and we enjoyed watching the tide come in and out. Best of all was the location.to Acadia. Great house to create lasting memories!

Beautiful old New England home with a million dollar view of an ocean inlet. Comfortably slept six adults and four children. We saw deer, blue heron, loons and one bald eagle. We had coffee in the Sun room overlooking the water in the mornings and in the evenings we sat on the deck listening to the wildlife. We heard a pack of coyotes, across the inlet, one evening. Short drive to Acadia National park and Bar Harbor. The owner suggested many things to do and great restaurants. Would love to come back and stay longer. Great place.

I chose this property due to the central location relative to Acadia National Park and being on the water. The kids loved fishing off the dock and we enjoyed coffee and drinks on the deck watching the tide changes. The house is so cute but updated. The rooms were perfect for two families of boys and girls as everyone had a nice space for themselves. We used the kitchen to its fullest cooking bacon and eggs as well as baked donuts. Candy was responsive to our questions and very helpful. I would recommend this house to anyone who wants to have an authentic Maine experience!

We had a wonderful stay at Heron Pool. Our family gathering was an opportunity to visit Acadia National Park and this property was a perfect fit. We were so comfortable in this lovely home, so spacious, clean, and well stocked, and the outside shower and use of the dock were icing on the cake. Entrance to Acadia is a breeze, and a trip into Bar Harbor is a hop, skip and jump as well. We all loved the stay! Thank you Robert and Robin for sharing your beautiful home.

As advertised - I would even say that the pictures don’t do it justice. A perfect place for a large group to stay.

Our party of 8 adults thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The location was perfect for our group…close to several towns but secluded and private. The house was quaint, clean and well stocked. The homeowner and caretaker were quick to respond to any questions. We are so glad we chose Heron Pool!

We really enjoyed our stay! The sunroom is the best! We stayed there a lot. I wish the upstairs queen bed had steps to get into the bed. The bed is really high. I also wish the path to the dock was easier to walk on. The property manager was the best and the owner was easy to text. We really loved it! We saw deer and an eagle from the deck.

Excellent location for visiting various MDI activities. Beautiful house with lovely furnishings. The kitchen was stocked with every kind of cooking tool imaginable. The dishes and flatware were fabulous. Very comfortable beds, great bed linens. Had numerous places to hang out with large family so you could have some private time when needed. The dock provided a wonderful place to swim. The outdoor table and chairs were wonderful for outdoor dining. Each bedroom had beautiful views. As did the other living areas. I do not usually write this effusively, but this place was fabulous!

Property is ideally located literally at the center of Acadia. Short drive to all the hikes and local attractions on Mt Desert Island.
Very peaceful watching the tides roll in and out from the deck. Plenty of room in the house, which is well-maintained.

Our extended family of 10 had an amazing vacation at Heron Pool. The house is so charming, with lots of little areas to hangout and also a big dining table where we could all sit together. The view of the trees and the inlet from the house is so beautiful. We rented kayaks delivered to the property and we enjoyed kayaking off the dock every day - we saw bald eagles, porpoises, and seals. On the warmest days, some of us went swimming when the tide was in. We walked to the nearby theater one evening to watch a play. We really liked the location - easy to adventure on both sides of the island. The hosts were so responsive to our questions and little things that came up.

My family gathered from around the country for my birthday celebration at Heron Pool. The photos of this house do not do it justice. This is a well loved family home with several comfortable rooms to spread out or gather together as you please. My sister enjoyed the separate guesthouse with a view of the water. Kitchen is quirky but totally user friendly with tons of everything you could need to cook, serve, eat and drink with. We enjoyed many meals in the large dining room and mornings in the sun room.
Location was so close to the park and in a quaint historic town.
Beds were comfortable and bathrooms were nice and updated(not many pics of those on the site).
Private and quiet with a lovely dock by the water. I would have loved any kayak or canoe available but Long lake was right around the corner and super simple to rent craft there.
We came away rested and refreshed after our stay at this property!

Lovely few days
We had a wonderful few days with family and friends at this intriguing home. The books alone kept me entertained..the quiet location was relaxing and the rolling aspects of the house interesting. Candy..the caretaker, was very attentive and helpful. We travel this way often and will be back! Thank you!!

Excellent
We loved everything about the house and the location. Most of the time just two of us there, but it was fun having the whole house to roam in. We planned loads of activities so our time went quickly. The home is large and well appointed and charming. We appreciated Candy's help whenever we had a question and were lucky enough to meet the owner and his mother. It was great.

Classic New England Home on the Water
Like stepping into timeless old New England, this home is filled with nostalgia from memories of family life on Mount Desert Island. It is located on the quiet side but still convenient to Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor. We were attending the Acadia Birding Festival and this house was convenient to the activities. The rambling house has abundant rooms to enjoy the peace and quiet that surrounds you with views of the water in Somes Sound through the multiple windows which overlook flower filled meadows. The extensive library is well stocked with books including numerous nature guides. We didn’t turn on the TV once so can’t respond to any questions about the signal. The internet was fast which made it easy to check emails. There were plenty of dishes, glasses, and pots and pans including cast iron frying pans which brought back many memories. There is a Mr. Coffee type coffee maker and plenty of spices available to use. The nice front loading washer and dryer were convenient. Before heading to MDI, we stopped at the Hannaford in Ellsworth to buy groceries where they also sell wine and liquor in the grocery store. The downstairs bathroom has a nice walk-in shower. We used the downstairs bedroom with a queen bed but there are two steps to get up to the bedroom. The other bedrooms are up a flight of stairs so anyone with mobility issues should take note of this. The bed was comfortable with nice Egyptian cotton sheets. The controllers for the heater/air conditioner are on the side of the unit in each of the rooms. The owner was very responsive and helpful with recommendations about local activities. Wonderful stay and hope to visit again.

Perfect property for Acadia vacation
The property is located at a perfect location, which is about 15 minutes drive to any of the major attractions in the area. It is very private, well stocked. The property is well remodeled to accommodate multiple families to provide private spaces for each family. The view to the back yard is amazing! Couldn’t wait to go back in the coming years. Highly recommend this property.

Fabulous place
Our group of 7 retired/nearly retired women had a wonderful, relaxing stay. There are a few in the group that intend to come back with their families. There is so much to do in Acadia (very short drive away), but an afternoon sitting in the sunroom or curled up on one of the sofas can’t be beat.
The owner sends out a VERY informative and helpful email prior to arrival. Highly, highly recommend a stay at this welcoming home.

Dreamy family vacation
We had an absolutely wonderful stay at Heron Pool with our 3 young children. The house itself was very comfortable & bright with nicely updated bathrooms. The location of the house is a dream - we hardly needed to leave as our kids loved exploring the shoreline at low tide and swimming to the little island at high tide right off the dock in front of the house. It was a dream, and we hope to return in the future. Candy, the caretaker, was also very helpful throughout our stay.

Wonderful week in Maine
We loved staying at Heron Pool. The house had plenty of space for all of us to be together or on our own. Also lots of ways to bring the outdoors into the space with a sunroom and patio. The kitchen was especially well stocked with everything we needed and we all like to cook, so it was well used.
We especially loved being right on Sommes Sound so that we got to watch the tide come in and go out each day - very dramatically!

Fantastic Vacation Home!!!
Our trip to Mt. Desert could not have been any better! The home was awesome - Great location - just minutes away from both Acadia and Bar Harbor. The house was located on a beautiful property which was well maintained. We enjoyed our mornings and early evenings on the deck overlooking the water. We spent time on the dock - soaking in the sunshine and taking a brief dip in the water. The beds were very comfortable. The outdoor shower was a nice surprise and several of us enjoyed the experience. One of our favorite rooms in the home was the dining room. We would have dinner overlooking the water and after dinner play games into the night. It was roomy and comfortable. So that we could fully enjoy our outdoor adventures without time constraints, we chose to cooked dinner at home every night with the exception of one. I have to say that the kitchen is better stocked with utensils, dishes, pots, pans, knives, serving bowls, wine and drinking glasses than my kitchen at home.
Additionally, Candy the property manager was extremely responsive and helpful in many ways. We were even lucky enough to have her bring us live lobsters that were caught that day for dinner. She gave us her secret to cooking a perfect lobster and everyone thoroughly enjoyed them. Candy's recommendation for dinner at a restaurant in Bar Harbor was great - Seafood Ketch.
We would highly recommend staying at this home - "Hidden Pond"

Heron Pool is the Best!
The house was awesome! It was spacious, clean, and fully stocked with all necessities. We absolutely loved the sunroom and outdoor porch. We didn’t mind being outside of Bar Harbor proper. We actually preferred it because it was quiet and very comfortable for our family: nine adults and a newborn baby. The caretaker, Candy, was helpful and offered us tidy and clean accommodations. She and the owner answered all our questions in a timely manner. The location is perfect for Acadia access points, restaurants and stores. We highly recommend this home for your Bar Harbor, Maine adventure. Can’t wait to tell our family and friends and hopefully we will return!
