I had a wonderful time at this beautiful house!
The host was really gracious, friendly, and helpful, and the amenities of the accommodations are just great!
The view of the coast and surrounding area is stunning from this location. The staff and host do a wonderful job of keeping everything clean and beautiful, in working order, shipshape, and they certainly made sure I had everything I needed.
Thank you very much for your hospitality! If I have the pleasure of returning to Manzanillo, I will certainly book your house again.

Very comfortable and well equipped. Beautiful views with outside furniture protected with a beautiful palapa.

Super friendly accommodating hosts. the hotel is very nice and clean. we were booked to stay there but had our flights cancelled. Ayelet and Linda offered us different nights. We did go and check the place out ( glad we did ) but we ended up going back to Melaque where we had another hotel booked. Would love to stay here for a few months but you definitely need a car.

We had a very comfortable and enjoyable stay at the casita. Ayelet was an amazing host, so accommodating and very quick to reply to every request. But, hands down, the best part of the rental was Linda. She lives on the property but you would never know it until you needed something. She was so helpful with suggestions on where to visit, where to eat and helping with transportation. We will definitely be back.

Little oasis in the hill
The hostess was very great and always attentive to all our need and more the place was amazing so much room to wonder around and great view of the ocean just like in the pictures but way better when you where there I can go on about it over all great experience I really recommend staying here if your planning to visit Manzanillo a must!

Perfect Once More
Please see my review for this same location from February, 2018. All those comments continue to apply and Linda is still the perfect hostess. We are already booked to spend four months here next winter. We now consider ourselves "veterans" of Manzanillo (I know, a stretch after only two years) and I think we have a pretty good "feel" for what is available in the City and surrounding area and, in our view, this is absolutely the best location and the best value on the market. If you are planning a visit to this delightful area of Mexico, this is the place to stay.

The "Loft" was everything we'd hoped for. The accommodation was wonderful with a beautiful pool, beautiful views, and beautiful weather. We did find climbing the hill a bit daunting but taxis are plentiful and cheap. Linda was very helpful and introduced us to Jorge, a local English-speaking cabbie, who took us on a day trip to various towns and tourist attractions. A couple of small items would make the Loft even more perfect: binoculars to enjoy the view, more kitchen cooking utensils (pots & pans), and a VCR for the VHS collection. All in all a fine vacation!

A Wonderful Experience!
We just returned from a 3 month stay at Casitas de Santiago. We loved every minute of it, so much so that we have already booked for the same period next year. The most important benefit of this location is the presence of the live-on-site owner/manager Hermelinda; her kindness, generosity and resourcefulness never ceased to amaze us. While never intrusive, she was always right there to quickly and efficiently deal with any (few) issues, maintenance or otherwise, that might arise. Thank you linda, for all you did for us!
The loft unit is every bit as beautiful as depicted in the pictures. Bright, airy, constant cooling breezes, spectacular views of Santiago Bay. Unit is very well equipped and maintained; most comfortable bed we have ever slept in! The palapa and pool are delightful and with only two other rental units in the complex we really had the common areas completely to ourselves 90% of the time as other guests would be off most of the day golfing or just exploring beaches etc.
We loved Manzanillo! Beaches to walk for miles, many great places to eat and drink (most at very modest prices) modern fully stocked super markets and other shopping and, of course, the large, funky and eclectic Santiago market on Saturdays...if they don't have it, you don't need it! We used buses and taxis for all our transportation needs, cheap and easy! But most attractive to us was the people of Manzanillo...almost without exception they were warm, friendly, and eager to be helpful. It helps to have at least a few basic Spanish phrases...you don't have to be fluent at all, just try! Oh, and the weather...we were there 95 days, cloudless blue skies for 92 days, some overcast for 3 days with one hour of showers. Temperatures warm (ie hot in the sun) days and delightfully cool evenings for sleeping.
Now you know why we are going back!

Scenic, Relaxing Place to Chill Out
Condo located up on a hill so it's a nice view of the ocean and surrounding hillside. The condo inside is nicely decorated, and the bed is very comfortable. There are many windows and ceiling fans in the unit, so air conditioning is not necessary - there is always a nice ocean breeze coming into the unit. And yes, there is internet.
Linda, the owner's mother, lives in the condo below and was very helpful about local information, and for a small fee picked us up and drove us back to the Playa del Oro airport. We found this very convenient.
We would recommend this place for families and people who just want to chill out. It has an adequate kitchen for home cooked meals, and a nice pool and lounge area outside where children can play.
We found the location a bit remote because it was on a fairly steep hill which made it difficult to walk to anywhere, and the small town wasn't really within walking distance. You need a car.
Linda was nice enough to rent us her car, and we used it a couple of days for excursions, but because we had some heavy rainy days, we were not comfortable driving it up the steep road to the condo. Consequently, we did not go out for dinner because driving back at night in those rain storms was out of our comfort zone.

Very Relaxing Spot With Great View
Fantastic place to hang out in the pool, palapa or hammocks, great view of the harbor. Special thanks to property manager, Hermelinda (Linda), for her dedication to make sure we had everything we needed, fix what was broken and provide information on places to go and things to do. We did a day trip with her to Colima and area, excellent. Our unit was comfortable, nice breeze flowing thru with very basic but adequate dishes, utensils, pots and pans.
Sombra, her dog, was a constant companion every day, hanging out on the deck, in our unit or taking her for walks. Caretaker, Benito, was always around, cleaning the pool, cleaning the deck area, painting and helping as required. Having the Housekeeper twice a week was a nice luxury.
The long and steep hill leading up to our unit was challenging but easier with each descent and climb back up. the back trail on the left side was easier but tricky with dirt and rocky section and ample supply of barking dogs. Using the stairs thru the lower unit was easiest. Of course, using very reasonable taxis was always preferred.
The beach below is very easy to walk as long as you care, walked many times to Oasis for refreshments and meals. Check out their happy hour times and entertainment.
Great eating places, favorites include Pacifica Del Mar, La Forgon, Jack's, Oasis, and for basic cheap food and drinks, hostel at the bottom the the hill. A unique experience was Bar Social, by Soriano, you pay for drinks and food is free.
Local Saturday market is intriguing for finding Mexican crafts, cloths, jewelry or fresh vegetables and fruit. Major grocery stores in Manzanillo include La Comer, Walmart and Sorieno, very reasonably priced and cheap booze too.
Highly recommend day trip or two to Maleque and area as well as Colima to see the active volcano.
Pleasant surprise was the need for a dentist to make a night guard, Dr. Guillermo Brambila Meda in Santiago was very accommodating, funny and cheap, 1/10 the cost compared to home.. Highly recommended if needed.

Priceless view and amazing vacations
When we arrived at this Manzanillo rental, we were blown away by the view and the location. Located at the top of the hill, this location has an amazing terrace with a view of a million bucks, where you can BBQ or simply lounge during the sunset. If you go with small children like we did, you will have a hard time getting your kids our of the pool.
The apartment is very cozy with lots of natural light during the day. At night you can see the ships in the ocean and you can still hear the ocean waves crashing – simply amazing.
Food and hospitality in Manzanillo has no match. Everyone is extremely nice and helpful.
If I could give more than 5 stars, I would. We will definitely come back. Hopefully soon!

Perfect
Lovely location, offering a breathtaking view. The bungalow, pool and patio were well maintained and cleaned everyday. The loft we stayed in was absolutely perfect, we loved every minute of our stay. The hostess was so kind and thoughtful. We can not wait to return. We met so many wonderful local people enjoyed meals on the beach and in town. We shopped the markets and local grocery stores.

Ideal Casita For Two
Casita de Santiago is a superb vacation accommodation for a couple, located atop a nice residential area in the Santiago Hills, a suburb west of the primary tourist, commercial and industrial areas of Manzanillo. As advertised, it has outstanding views of Bahia de Santiago and cooling ocean breezes. Our Hostess, Linda, lives on the property and was gracious in attending to our every request. The pool is literally a few steps from the casita entry, and while small, is perfect for cooling off in the afternoon. The casita has its own private terrace when seclusion is desired, but our favorite place was relaxing in a hammock under the palapa on the expansive terrace shared by the guests of the three-unit complex, chatting with new friends, enjoying adult beverages while watching the sunset. The casita has its own gated parking space for your rental car, which is recommended unless you are avid hill climbers. We always drove into town for shopping and for walks on the beautiful Playa de Santiago, especially its western end. We felt perfectly comfortable driving in Manzanillo.

Wonderful Hospitality
We just returned from a wonderful two weeks at this lovely property, which is just as shown, clean, comfortable and all the necessities to have a great vacation. It also boasts luxuries like a refreshing pool, fantastic outdoor space in the palapa which offers amazing views of the bay and surrounding areas. The beach is nearby and the swimming is great, you can walk for miles or stop at the beach club for a cold one and a great lunch under an umbrella to watch the ships come and go.
The public transportation by bus, cab or motor coach for longer distances are close, safe, affordable. Go to Barra Navidad or Melaque for the day, you won't regret it. There are lots of great places to eat and shop. The best thing about the loft is the lady who lives beneath it, Linda. She was a gem, so helpful and generous. We were also fortunate to be able to spend time with Ayelet, Sean and their family, who made us feel so welcome.
Our time spent here will be very fondly remembered and we recommend it to anyone who wants to get away from the resorts and enjoy the beautiful country of Mexico.

Lugar Increible / Amazing Place
At the beginning when I saw the pictures in the webpage I did not have the confidence that the place was real.
In other occasions I had bad experiences seeing other beautiful properties on line, but when you arrive to the place, it does not meet the expectations created by the pictures.
When we arrived to this property it was exactly the opposed, the real place exceed my expectations.
The place is amazing, the swimming pool, the chalet, the ocean view is unbelievable, everything is clean and in good shape.
Great place to get disconnected from the normal life.
The attention of Mrs. Linda was great.
My family is looking for the next vacation here.
I recommend it wisely.

Beautiful
It was a relaxing, inviting, and comfortable apartment. I felt reinvigorated by the end of my stay. The host was generous with her time and available when we needed her. The booking and reservations went smoothly and Ayelet was very responsive to any questions we had. We loved it and will be back again soon.

Fabulous!
Dear Hermalinda and Ayleta, Thank you so much for making our vacation exceptional in Manzanillo. The accommodations were fabulous and for all other readers this a a must experience place. First off, Hermalinda picked us up at the bus station and was all smiles. She waited patiently while we shopped for groceries and answered all our questions. Thank you for the cooking lesson Hermalinda and for the fabulous meal! The view made me smile first thing every morning, the pool and palapa was clean and our daily hang out before and after walking down the hill and exploring the beach etc. We met some wonderful people while staying at this villa and the staff always so pleasant! I could live here. We will be back!

Comfortable, clean property with stunning views of Santiago Bay
From the moment we arrived for our 3 week January 2016 stay at Casita Santiago Hills we felt at home. From the airport arrival pickup by Hermolinda - the property manager - to the end of our trip and drop off at the airport, we felt spoiled by her attentive and accommodating manner. She helped us book tickets for an event, took us to the Saturday Market (fabulous fresh fruit and vegetables!) and the local meat and fish shops, and when needed, called us cabs. We as well had her prepare, for us and 4 friends, an authentic Mexican meal that was a highlight of our stay! The price was very reasonable and the quality of the food as good as meals we had at some of Manzanillo's best restaurants.
The suite/loft itself was spotless, comfortable and even without air-conditioning was cool in the evenings with the ocean breeze. At times it sounded like the surf/beach was right outside our door as we could hear the waves crashing, even though the location is a considerable way up the hill. The bed was comfortable and the couches perfect for stretching out and watching some T.V. off the satellite dish.
We enjoyed the space but at times when we were cooking up a storm at dinner we found the counter space somewhat limiting in the loft. But then when we were able to have that same dinner sitting under the spacious and well appointed Palapas (internet access, sink, sound system, couches, tables, chairs) with a fantastic sunset view of the bay it did not seem so bad. :) Most meal times found us sitting on the private balcony right off the kitchen, enjoying the fresh air and the view.
One should be aware as noted in other reviews that the property is at the very top of the hills overlooking Santiago bay and therefore walking out the door to the beach/market/town square and back does not lend itself to being a routine excursion. Though we made the trip down the hill often, we typically then caught a cab for the trip back up - especially if we had groceries or the heat of the day was on. Part of the time we rented a car for some trips out of Manzanillo (Colima, La Manzanilla, Barra Navidad) and that certainly made the hillside location much more accessible. Yes one also needs to know that occasionally there is an evening/early morning contest between the area dogs and roosters to see which can cause the most noise.
Overall our stay at Casita Santiago Hills was excellent value and we are sure to consider it when planning our next visit to Manzanillo.

Our Borrowed Home in Paradise
Well, we had an amazing month in Santiago. The apartment is exactly what you see in the photos. The king bed overlooks the ocean view with a series of windows that slide into one at each end. We never closed them. The kitchen is small, but quite manageable for the two of us. The fridge was ample for our needs. We never used the living room as we lived outside, but it is well equipped with TV, videos, etc. Wifi is very good and can be used out at the far end of the palapa. The pool is well maintained and literally 7 steps from the back door! We used it every day numerous times!
We also fell in love with the dogs, "LaLa" and "Sombre". We took them on their walk every day, which they eagerly anticipated. They spent the day with us at the pool and are two loyal dogs!
We went shopping in the small village almost everyday for our fresh veges, fruit, and breakfast tacos! We got to know the shop keepers and they us, even though our Spanish is almost non-existent. They would teach us the names of items we were buying and how to pronounce them correctly.
We fell in love with Hermelinda, the manager. She made us feel like royalty and would do anything for us. We had her cook our 31st Anniversary Dinner, and it was delicious! She also taught us to cook a few Mexican favorites!
We would highly recommend staying here, rather than Manzanillo. This is the real Mexico, and you will get to know and love the delightful people of this area! Very safe....NEVER felt threatened, on the contrary, WELCOMED by everyone!

Excellent!
we stayed during the Christmas and New Year period and we enjoyed every minute of our stay in our loft.
The pictures on the site is exactly what you get and the hospitality is terrific with Linda whom takes care of her guests just like family.
I truly recommend this place and the view is out of this world.

I just spent Thanksgiving at this beautiful location with my children. Our unit was beautiful and features all the amenities to make our stay truly unforgettable. The location is very convenient - easy access to beaches and private clubs and it's very safe as well. We spent our mornings and evenings at their beautiful deck and "palapa" where we enjoyed the beautiful views of the Santiago peninsula and my kids enjoyed the beautiful pool.
The highlight of my trip was Linda, the owner. She is friendly, speaks both English and Spanish, and she is an amazing cook. She invited us to her Thanksgiving dinner celebration which was delicious and special for all of us. Manzanillo overall is the best kept secret. The beaches are beautiful, there are great trips you can take if you have small kids that offer a wide variety of activities for the entire family. The prices are sooo reasonable too compared to Puerto Vallarta. We will come back again very soon and will bring my friends! Thanks for a wonderful stay.

We spent 15 wonderful days in "The Loft". I won't repeat the description of views from this hillside villa overlooking Santiago Bay. Our days were spent walking and exploring the village and beaches laying at our feet; the nights were spent on the pool deck overlooking the lights of the Santiago peninsula with the port of Manzanillo in the background.
We particularly enjoyed wandering the village and experiencing Mexican lifestyle. We ate out a few times but most enjoyed shopping for the ingredients to use in our home cooked dinners from the many shops and street vendors. Everyone is so helpful there.
The pool and palapa with comfy hammocks were just a few steps away from the door. I spent many an afternoon in my favorite hammock with a book in hand.
Not to go unmentioned was the genuine hospitality shown by Hermalinda, and later by her daughter Aylete, son-in-law Sean and grand kids who came to visit while we were there. Meeting the family was an extra bonus. Hermalinda lives there year round and knows the answer to everything - even the questions we didn't know to ask! From the moment we arrived we felt like family. Thank you so much for being the difference and making this such a great vacation stay.

Volveremos!

As others have mentioned this is THE place to book for those looking to stay in the Manzanillo area. And the loft is THE unit to book at Casitas Santiago Hills, if available. The view from here is spectacular and has no equivalent in the entire area. This tidy complex sits on top of the Santiago Hills and is where you want to be. There are three towns that have now grown together and internationally known as Manzanillo, but Santiago is by far the best [in our opinion]. It has a large bay and walkable beach that runs about 5 miles with umbrellas and restaurants dotting the landscape. In early March we watched some whales frolic in the bay for a few days. And the deck and loft from this Casista overlook the entire bay, as well as a good part of all three towns. You see sunrises and most of the sunsets, depending on the time of year you visit. We were there from the beginning of January until mid April and we never tired of the views.
Hermelinda is indispensable. She is the property manager, the owners Mother, the advisor of all things Manzanillo and the state of Colima, chauffeur, chef, and most of all a super lovely lady who is just amazing! She is a knowledgeable business person who speaks both Spanish and English, and who understands the importance of delivering outstanding service and making each guest feel special and cared for.
From the kitchen door of the loft, the pool is exactly seven steps! And we took full advantage! Get too hot cooking? Seven steps to relief! The loft always stayed a reasonable temperature, helped by the powerful overhead fans and one floor fan that we also used at night. Who wants to vacation within air conditioning? And the breezes coming off the ocean during the day, AND off the mountains at night kept us very comfortable. And the crashing waves!
There are lovely homes on the street that climbs up, and up, to get to this complex. And, let's be honest, it is not a smooth ride (mostly cobblestones), and it is very steep in places. There are also two trails down the hills from the casitas - one takes you toward the beach, the other takes you right into town and a few short blocks further is the Market. This is one of the outstanding sections of Santiago. It is several blocks square and where you [and locals] shop for FRESH fruits, vegetables, meat, seafood all at very very reasonable prices and totally safe and fun.
We drove all over and never saw anything that came close to what you'll have at Casitas Santiago Hills!!!

This place is a hidden treasure. The location, the accommodation, the privacy, the scenery, cleanliness and the best landlord ever.."mom". My husband and I stayed here for 8 days and it was the best 8 days ever. The scenery itself, was spectacular, and having our own private pool was exceptional. The beautiful beach is about 7 minutes walk away. Most important to me was the owner's mom who lived downstairs... she made us traditional meals when we needed them and had quite the impact on us. This is now my new destination... I/we will be back very soon.

2 weeks of pure delight.
This loft has everything, the view, the location, the settings ...everything.
To top it Linda the owner's mother and property manager, helpful, available at all times,
not invasive,such a wonderful inspiration !
Car recommended?: we did'nt have one and never missed it. Very good bus services, cheap. One should know though that there is some climbing to get back but we loved it.

My stay here was just amazing. The view from the condo was outstanding. The pool area and palapa couldn't have been any better. If you are looking for a comfortable place to stay in the hills above Manzanillo this is the place for you. The owners were kind and very considerate of our space, plus you can have an amazing meal cooked for you when ever you want it. I can't wait to go back!!!!

My husband and I just got back from three weeks in the White Villa at Santiago Hills... We would definitely return and stay there again if our destination were to be Manzanillo. Having Hermalinda, the owners mother, there, was a Godsend as she was able to fix, most willingly, any little problems that arose. I would not recommend staying here if you did not rent a car however as walking up the hill in the heat might cause you to have a cardiac arrest! We always had a car and it was perfect! At the bottom of the hill and a short distance to the north is a wonderful beach where we went almost every other day. Hermalinda cooked us a couple of wonderful meals which we thoroughly enjoyed and drove us to the airport which was greatly appreciated. The villa is situated in a residential area and there are at least 50 thousand dogs which bark in the night so earplugs or consuming vast quantities of wine is highly recommended prior going to bed at night! It didn't take long before we didn't notice the dogs though and we just really enjoyed our stay! Thank you so much to Ayelet, Hermalinda and Feliz....!
