After searching numerous places to stay in Oaxaca we found this awesome jem. The location was perfect, very quiet and close to a variety of restaurants and parks. The host was most helpful checking in on us daily. He gave us a map and reviewed various points of interest, restaurants, parks and market locations.

Quiet but still in the city center so there's plenty of great food and shopping and places to walk nearby. The owners are awesome. The apartment is clean and comfortable. Highly recommended.

The apartment was perfect for my wife and I. The rooms were clean, cute and comfortable. From bottled water to blender and French Press, the kitchen had all we needed to make breakfast, drinks and snacks. We really took advantage of the upstairs porch. It has comfy seating and great views of the mountains to the north. The neighborhood couldn't have been better. A quiet street in easy walking to great coffee and pastries, La Merced local market, Plaza St. Domingo and the Zocalo. William and Nora were solid hosts, but Bella, their dog was the true star!

We loved our stay at Alma de Mi Tierra B&B! Beautiful location in a stellar neighborhood--Jalatlaca--just a few blocks from Centro and full of stunning murals and places to eat just north of the house. William and Nora, our hosts, were very present and helpful whenever needed. We hired Nora to be our guide 3 times and she is remarkable and so knowledgeable. Our city/centro history tour was a great start to our stay. And our trip to Tlacolula's Sunday Market Day was lots of fun too. Don't miss one of her cooking classes. She is experienced and the meal will be wonderful. We want to come back again and again and we feel so blessed that we chose this place to stay. I can't imagine a better experience.

William and Bella were great hosts and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The rooftop terrace was a wonderful retreat at the end of our daily adventures.

We loved the neighborhood and the tranquil setting of the apartment. It felt so good to leave the heat of the streets and enter the beautiful cool courtyard. We were close enough to walk to the center of Oaxaca, but far enough away to be in a quiet friendly location. The bed was very comfortable (!) and we made use of the kitchen, eating at least one meal a day at home. The roof top terrace was heaven. I suppose I could nitpick about some things, but why bother when the entire experience was so close to perfect. William and Nora were great hosts.

We had a perfect nine day stay here! We loved the location with everything we needed close by which included interesting and varied routes for walks to explore. William was so helpful with advice and suggestions which added ease and comfort during our time. We also took advantage of Nora’s expertise as a tour guide and had a wonderful day visiting other communities. What a wonderful place to stay for visits to Oaxaca!

This property and its owner could not be more charming. Nestled amongst fuschia and coral bouganvillias and lime trees in a golden courtyard, our immaculate apartment was beautifully furnished, spacious, airy and comfortable. William warmly greeted us on our arrival and offered a map and perfect suggestions for late night food and directions to everything we might need. We especially enjoyed the roof terrace with splendid views of the mountains and its abundant specimen succulents. The Casa de Familua Gutierrz Valencia is a bit of heaven in Jalatlaco! Book far in advance!

This was a wonderful, beautiful place. My traveling companion and I felt very comfortable with living and sleeping arrangements. We were able to go to the mercado daily for necessities, and our hosts were more than willing to help with advice, maps, taxis, etc. Especially wonderful was Nora's guide service. She is a superb guide, and we loved our trips outside the city of Oaxaca. Definitely recommend.

We thoroughly enjoyed staying here- location is perfect as it is a lovely old neighborhood, not far from the centre but also close to the market for shopping. The rooftop patio is a fantastic feature, where you can enjoy the view and all of William's plants, especially the bougainvillea which is spectacular.

Our host was an excellent communicator from the time we booked to our departure. The apartment is well stocked, beautifully decorated and very comfortable. The terrace is an added outdoor living area that compliments the spacious apartment.

Excellent area for walking all over. William was a super resource who provided a good reference map too. I especially loved all the plants and the outdoor roof area and his willingness to order taxis when needed. Overall a very pleasant stay I will repeat.

The apartment is small but very comfortable and the Barrio Jalatlaco is charming and just ten minutes walk from the historical center. William is extremely helpful with advice about most anything!

We loved the accommodations. The roof terrace and garden area are beautiful. One of the big advantages we took advantage of: Nora arranging outings for us to Ocotlon, Teotitlan, and Tlacolulu. She is so knowledgable and enthusiastic about the treasures in and near Oaxaca.

I was delighted to find this apartment was located on a quiet street (hard to find in Mexico, especially so near the town center) 15 min walking distance to Santo Domingo church. The neighborhood is also very quiet and clean, though you can find Mercado Merced only 5 min walk away as well as a few local restaurants. Walking home at night always felt safe as there were other people walking around as well. I never took a cab once to or from the zocolo! The hosts William and Nora could not have been more friendly or attentive. William went out of his way to make sure I knew where things were located, and would call me a professional taxi driver when I wanted to venture out of town. I was lucky to get in to Nora's cooking class one day, which was simply awesome and a highlight of my trip. The apartment had nice sheets and towels and a good shower. The bathroom had just been remodeled which is very nice. It did however mostly eliminate the private interior patio. So I took my morning coffee upstairs to the rooftop deck which has a lovely view of surrounding mountains and comfy patio furniture. It proved to be a nice respite from the busy streets and cafes in Centro. I definitely recommend this apartment and would love to stay there again!
