We had a great stay at this cottage. It was a perfect spot on the quieter side of the island, which we wanted. Still a very easy drive into Bar Harbor. The house was fully stocked and clean. The owners left great notes and tips for enjoying the area. We have been coming up to Bar Harbor for the last 13 years and this was our favorite rental. We will definitely book it again

We shared Echo Pines Cottage the second week of October with our daughter. When we got to the house late at night, the power was out due to a storm that had gone through that evening. Fortunately, there were several conspicuous flashlights inside the front door and power was restored early the next morning. It was clean and well supplied with kitchen utensils and appliances, bedding, bathroom supplies, and several games. The two main bedrooms on the upper floor were above average in size with comfortable beds and large closets. The owners supplied detailed directions for getting in the house and leaving, as well as information about things visitors might need such as groceries stores, places to eat, park maps and suggestions of things to see/do. We all had a great visit to Acadia N. P. and the Cottage was the perfect base location to do our exploring.

Echo Pines was perfect! There’s no hesitation in giving Ellen and Kurt 5 stars across the board. Communication was quick and helpful from possible govt shutdown, to a long list of favorite restaurants and activities. Echo Pines was the cleanest rental we have ever stayed in. It was equipped with anything you might have needed. While we didn’t cook at the house anything you might have needed was there, very well stocked! Nice washer and dryer, plenty of linens/towels, cozy quilts for cool nights, comfy beds, … the list goes on. The house was tucked away in the woods, making for a quiet, peaceful stay. Location was perfect and away from busy Bar Harbor. We were up and out early each day and made it to all major trail heads within 15-20 min. Some of the best restaurants we ate at were on this side of the island as well. Pleased with our choice to stay at Echo Pines is an understatement. We will definitely stay here again if we get the chance to visit MDI and Acadia again!

Excellent property, very clean and well stocked down to the details. Centrally located with easy access to Acadia, Bar Harbor and Southwest Harbor, etc. Gracious hosts who do everything they can to make your stay as comfortable as possible. It was everything we wanted out of a vacation rental. Would highly recommend and we hope to be back!

Close to all Acadia Park entrances, carriage roads, Eagle Lake, Jordan Pond, Cadillac Mountain, Bar Harbor and more. Jordan pond popovers should not be missed. Delicious! Well stocked kitchen, great appliances, comfy beds and high end linens. Perfect for two couples celebrating a big birthday!

Echo Pines cottage was in the perfect location for our multi-generational family vacation in Acadia. It was clean, well-maintained and had everything we needed for our stay. Hosts Ellen and Curt went above and beyond to help us out when one of our car batteries failed - which would have otherwise left us stranded at the cottage. Thank you!

We had another great stay at this property. The place is clean, well-maintained, and well-furnished for a vacation week at the park. The central location is ideal, providing easy access to Bar Harbor and the park, and also to great hiking and fresh-water swimming, and Southwest Harbor and Bass Harbor on the west side of the island. This is a perfect home-base for enjoying and exploring Acadia.

The cottage is located about as close to the center of MDI as you can get, right on the edge of the park with easy access to everything on "The Quietside" of the island, including plenty of trails, Echo Lake, Long Pond, Southwest Harbor and Somesville and the Sound--all less than 10 minutes away. And the bigger/busier attractions are about 15-30 minutes out: carriage roads, Bar Harbor, Park Loop Road, Ellsworth. The house itself is great. the location is very private, on a nice wooded parcel. We enjoyed lounging on the back deck and morning coffee in the enclosed porch. The kitchen is well-appointed and made for people who love to cook. The only disappointment was that we were there too early for the blueberries in the yard to be ripe. I didn't have much interaction with Ellen, just a text to let her know of our arrival and departure, but she responded quickly both times. I would definitely rent this property again.

We loved our private space so close to Acadia. The home is well appointed with everything you need, the games and puzzles were such a nice touch and a great way to relax after hiking. We spent a wonderful week at Echo Pines Cottage. Ellen and Curt were terrific hosts. The house is very spacious and comfortable with lots of little extras to make you feel right at home. I would definitely stay here again when I'm back in Maine!

We had a wonderful stay at the Echo Pines Cottage last week. The cottage was very clean, well equipped with necessities and beyond. I personally really appreciated the working garden hose outside which allowed me to rinse our muddy hiking boots and our dog. We will deginitelly be back!

Ellen was an excellent host. Quick and accurate responses to my questions. The property has excellent access to Acadia National park due to the fact that there are many ways to get into the park. This location was perfect for Jordan Pond and other hiking locations. The unit was equipped very well. The owner even went out and purchased a day cooler and Ice packs when I just asked if they had one. We really enjoyed our stay. Thank you.

Perfect location on the ‘quiet’ side of the island. Deer in the front yard and loons calling at night! We loved it and will be back.

The location of the house is perfect for hiking or heading in to Bar Harbor. The house sits in a very quiet neighborhood, I could hear the loons on the lake calling each other in the evening and lots of birds chatting in the morning hours. I even saw a lot of young dear walking through the woods surrounding the house.. Pretty views of Echo Lake too. House is cosy and well maintained, the bedrooms are perfect for a great nights rest after a big day of hiking. Ellen and Curt are everything you could want in a vacation rental owner……. helpful, accommodating and very thoughtful. Everything you need for a great vacation!

It was a great stay the owners were responsive to our text the first night to get a pass printed for us and the kids and dogs really loved the location.

This is our second visit to this house and fourth visit to Mount Desert Island and Acadia. The house is immaculate and has everything you need for a great visit to MDI and Acadia. All of the details are there and the hosts are fantastic and sent us all the relevant info well in advance. Our arrival and departure were easy, and we had another great week. This house is a great find if you are looking for a relaxing week in the beautiful forests of Mount Desert Island.

Highly recommended! We couldn’t ask for a more perfect spot on the island. Ellen and Curt provided a wonderful getaway for our family. The location is quiet and tucked away, but yet so close to everything. This was our second visit to Acadia and staying on the “Quiet Side” is the way to go. We were delighted to only be 10 minutes away from our favorite eatery, The Little Notch Bakery. A must visit! The best breads, pastries and pizza! The cottage was super clean and well equipped. Super comfortable beds, plenty of linens and towels. I can’t think of anything we didn’t have. The view of the lake was wonderful and seeing the stars at night from the deck was breathtaking. We hope to be back again soon and Echo Pines Cottage will certainly be our first choice. Thanks again Ellen and Curt!

The cottage was ideal for our vacation planned around Acadia National Park. It's ideally located on the quiet side of MDI, just a short drive to Bar Harbor and the park, itself, as well as restaurants and stores in Southwest Harbor. We had good communication with the owners during the reservation and check-in process, and the property itself was clean, well-furnished, and well-suited for our 1-week national park vacation. Excellent experience. My wife, 4 daughters and dog (Moxie) found this to be a great house for our trip to MDI. The mini path is not to be missed and was a great start to each day with Moxie and coffee. Week of fantastic weather so can’t speak to rainy day activities. High points include Cadillac Mountain, hiking to Bar Island with tasty lunch on deck at Bar Harbor Inn, Bubbles hike. Multiple trips to Sand Beach and swimming at Echo lake. Our hosts were easy to work with and their care was evident in the details they provided at the house.

We had a great time on MDI! Echo Pines Cottage was cozy and welcoming. Nestled in a lovely wooded area, the house was very clean and had all the necessary essentials. The beds were very comfortable. The master bedroom and closet were spacious. Ellen and Curt quickly responded to communication and provided all necessary information for our stay. It’s nice that the location is quiet and removed from the hustle and bustle of Bar Harbor but still very conveniently located to explore the different parts of the island. Some of the activities we enjoyed in the area were: walking along the shore path, eating lobster rolls, touring La Rochelle, taking in the views from the summit of Cadillac mountain, the rocks of Bass Harbor lighthouse, Otter Cliff and Thunder Hole, swimming at Echo Lake Beach and exploring Sand Beach and the tide pools at Wonderland Trail. We walked across the sand bar at Bar Island, and enjoyed a sunset cruise around the island. Highly recommend Echo Pines Cottage for your Maine getaway!

Very nicely appointed property. Clean and safe. Everything we asked for. Stocked kitchen so we could cook and socialize. New propane grill was right off the backdoor and worked great. Will definitely be back. :-)

I had a great stay at Echo Pines! The house is immaculately clean and well kept. The kitchen is well-stocked with items you need for cooking or grilling meals. The living areas (living room, dining area, back room with sliding door and enclosed porch area) are all comfy and give you a great view of the surrounding woods. Sitting on the deck and listening to the birds was very relaxing as well. The master suite upstairs has plenty of room and the bed is very comfy. I was able to have the windows opened and heard the loons on Echo Lake! Ellen and Curt have great attention to details, providing a welcome guide containing things to know when staying at the house as well as some recommendations for area attractions and restaurants. They even labeled the light switches so you know where to turn on each light/outlet and provided details about trash and recycling. I love that they donate the money from refundables to the local SPCA! It’s obvious that they take great pride in the house and have gone out of their way to make sure their visitors have the best experience. I was a little concerned about staying on the “quiet side” of the island and that it would be too far removed from everything, but the house is conveniently located to get to all the main attractions I had no problems getting around. Plus, there’s so much to see and do on the ‘quiet side’ of the island as well. Other than an occasional passing car, it’s quiet and peaceful but you're still close to everything. I even saw some deer walking through the woods along the driveway! I highly recommend this property. You won’t be disappointed. Thank you so much Ellen and Curt for a wonderful stay!

We had a family of four that really enjoyed our stay at this home. The cottage felt so welcoming and cozy….one of the better rentals we have stayed at through VRBO. The hosts were very informative and kind. The cottage was perfectly clean and a peaceful location….we would highly recommend!

My family and I stayed at this house for 5 days in October. It was an absolutely fantastic house: clean, comfortable, and well equipped. Ellen was very welcoming and provided detailed instructions for our stay here. This was my first time booking a house through VRBO so I was a little unsure on what to expect, but after this stay I will definitely book through VRBO again - and when/if I go back to Acadia I will book this house again! This is an impeccably clean and well equipped property, conveniently located for our trip to Bar Harbor, Acadia National Park and surrounding areas. The owners are very attentive, responsive and thoughtful. They have clearly worked hard to make their guests' stay comfortable...the kitchen was awesome and fully equipped, the beds were very comfortable (for layout info both queen beds/bedrooms are upstairs with one upstairs bathroom), upgraded mattresses, the furniture nice, the towels/linens nice as well. There were notes to the smallest detail, like how recycling works in Maine, a place for deposit back bottles which they donate to an animal rescue (love it!) and which light switch went to which light. I definitely recommend these owners and this place. The only caviat I want to mention impacted a rather substantial allergy I have. I want to also note that I did not ask about this in advance, as we were running out of suitable options to book when we booked this. This seems to be an older home that has been beautifully cared for and cleaned...please don't doubt how very clean it is! But as either older or of a very different basement structure than what I'm accustomed to, it has some natural earthy, musty/dusty scents, which wreaked havoc with my allergies the one time I entered the basement to do laundry (super nice washer and dryer!) and play ping pong. Note that it did not bother our non-allergic travelers; it was just a scent that was strong in the basement. I still highly recommend it in general, just be informed if you have those types of allergies like me.
