Our stay at the Back Cove Gem was perfect. It's a full apartment in a quiet neighborhood. The hosts provided everything we needed for a great stay, including good recommendations for local restaurants within walking distance of the house. Everything was neat as a pin and cozy. We had a great time. The one tiny drawback for us was that the apartment is on the third floor and we are old farts and are no longer used to racing up stairs. But we knew what we were getting into when we made the reservation. Truly, it was a lovely stay.

If you are looking to visit the Portland area and need a place to stay and sleep, this is it. A short ride, 5 minutes, from downtown Portland. It is a perfect place to stay and sleep. Highly recommended if you are looking for a great value. We appreciated all the hospitality.

Fantastic experience and property. The hosts made the rental experience comfortable and welcoming. I would highly recommend to my friends and family. Plenty of parking and a nice source of daily exercise going to the third floor. It was beautiful and well kept with easy access to stores, restaurants, and downtown.

DISCLAIMER: This property is an apartment located in a 3-story building, with a family with a young child directly below. During weekday mornings there tends to be typical noise associated with getting ready in the morning that is audible, so if you are particularly noise sensitive keep that in mind. That said, everything else was great!!! The hosts were super communicative (really cannot emphasize this enough), and the property was a perfect size for us. The kitchen was outfitted with everything we needed. It's not very far from downtown Portland. However, I would recommend bringing a car if you have the option. Overall a great experience, I would highly recommend this property to anyone!

Really enjoyed my stay at the “Back Cove Gem”. Danni was communicative throughout the booking and very welcoming when I was onsite. The location was exactly as I’d hoped - 1 block from Back Cove and a 5min drive or inexpensive Uber to downtown Portland. I’ll be back!

We stayed here for 4 nights and it was perfection. We got in at midnight with no troubles at all!! There was coffee and condiments ready for us in the morning, the place was utterly spotless, the bed was so comfortable, it was just the perfect space. The location was wonderful- could literally walk anywhere we wanted to go including downtown and the port area. Even closer was a great brew pub, pizza place and other awesome places, all within a 7 minute walk. The pictures do not show how bright and clean and perfectly decorated it is. I would give this 10 stars if I could. The host was just awesome. It was indeed a gem!!!

We enjoyed our stay in this downtown apartment. Very comfy beds and a nice kitchen table and living room area. The kitchen is small but had everything we needed to cook a few meals. Very clean apartment and excellent communication from both Sean & Danni.

Danni and Sean were great hosts! They reached out daily and checked in. The apartment was clean, tidy, cozy, and well equipped. Only a 25 minute walk to downtown Portland! The only suggestion or recommendation would be to add a shower in the second/guest bathroom. My girlfriend and I were the only ones staying here, but if we had another couple with us, they would have had to use the shower in the master bedroom, which could be inconvenient for everyone.

The Back Cove Gem truly is a gem. Very spacious with two bedrooms, two baths, kitchen, living room and dining room. Two dedicated off street parking spaces as well. Tastefully decorated and superbly appointed with many pieces of art that greatly enhance the experience. The owners Danni and Sean have also spent a good amount of time creating a guidebook that lists local attractions, dining options and more. It's in a great location with easy access to downtown, the Old Port area, Hwys 95 and 295 and the coast. I wanted to write why we loved this place. This rental was in a quiet neighborhood, was as advertised although the pictures do not do it justice. Danni Higgins sent messages through out the trip to offer any help we might need. Spacious, clean, conveniently located, bathroom in master bedroom and another centrally located with a big beautiful old fashioned Clawfoot bathtub. We will be back again, was just what we had hope for and to find! Thank you Danni :)

Very clean, charming apartment. Owners very thoughtful and put in air conditioners early because of unexpected heat in May. Also, off street parking a treat!

Property was as described and better. Comfortable beds, living spaces and kitchen for an adult family of four. Off street parking a plus with easy access to the apartment. Cozy, quiet neighborhood, close to downtown, local shops and back cove.

The rental is on the third (top) floor of the building with easy free parking. The property is in a great location within minutes of restaurants in Portland. The space is cozy with most of anything you could need for a short stay. Beds are soft. I will mention that sound travels very easily in the building and quiet hours are enforced so be mindful of that since we got a noise complaint when our evening of board games and music went past 10PM.

The apartment was very nice, clean and comfortable. It’s close to downtown and if it had been warmer weather we could have walked. Over all it was a very enjoyable stay.

We really enjoyed renting this property. We’ve never stayed in a older style house and it was really cool. The place was clean, and had everything we needed. The iron came in handy since we were in town for a wedding. The location is great too because it is close to a lot of great restaurants and food places. Mattresses were comfortable as well. Overall it was a very nice stay.

it is perfect for 2-3 people, but nice and clean with adequate bathrooms. Danni was a joy to work with. The third floor presented a challenge with luggage and unloading.

Great hosts and a great location.

When we arrived, entrance to the property was very easy. A key code was provided and that's all it took to check in. I had communicated with Danni through email several times prior to check-in, and she quickly responded with answers to my questions each time. The property was clean, and was exactly what the pictures portrayed. My favorite thing about it was the location. 5 minute uber to Thompson's Point, 5 minutes to Old Port, and about 20 minutes to the beach. There is also a nice little kitchen if you'd like to cook in. My only concern at first was privacy, but once I entered my space it seemed very sound proof. I definitely recommend this VRBO. Thanks Danni!

Danni could not have been more helpful and communicative with us. What a delight. The apartment was just what we needed and was located within 5 minutes of downtown. Easy in/easy out. AC was on for us upon arrival, which the four of us were very grateful for. Apt. was cozy, clean and had all the kitchen items we needed. I would definitely stay here again.
