Kiek and Joost’s houseboat is a true jewel for visiting Amsterdam. Location is great, accommodations are very clean and comfortable, and the hosts are damn cool! The hammock was the perfect way to indulge and reflect on a day’s experiences. Thanks for the rich hospitality and I look forward to bringing my children for our next visit.

We had the most amazing stay on Joost, Kiek and Nika’s beautiful house boat. Every part of our experience from booking, communication prior arrival, check in and out stay was simply perfect. The boat is in prime position in the city, close enough to everything, but far enough away to leave the crowds behind and enjoy the peaceful surroundings. The boat has everything you could possibly need and more, including the most comfortable hammock. Joost and Kiek could not do enough to assist us. We will be back... if you will have us? X

This is a lovely houseboat located in a great area. We found it convenient for walking to areas of interest. There are lovely restaurants in the area as well as shopping. Our hosts were great at offering suggestions. When in Amsterdam stay on a houseboat

We stayed there for a week as 4 adults. Joost is very friendly and welcoming. He advised us well on the surroundings and where to find the different conveniences. The barge is very well located (close to the centre, even on foot - about 25min walk), in a quiet street with little traffic. The subway is close by. It is also well arranged and functional, with a small "terrace" outside in front of the entrance. Thank you very much Joost for these few days in a quiet place in this beautiful city!

Highly recommend this boat house! It’s in a great location (close to tram/metro and grocery store) and perfect with kids. Joost was easy to work with and provided a ton of helpful tips.

This place is special. It’s not often available to rent. But if you do, it’s got the one thing I’ve always wanted to find in a rental. A guitar! Sure we’ve had pianos but never a guitar, two little organs, three drums and a ukulele. There’s also plenty of space, all the mod cons, a fab host Joost (his name rhymes with host), a super quiet but convenient location and a great little restaurant, Aguada, around the corner The supermarket is a 4min walk, Metro only six but we walked everywhere. Oh yeah and it’s a boat- a boat folks. How cool do you need your stay in Amsterdam to be?

We loved our stay in this houseboat! It is very homey and comfortable. Having the washer and dryer was great plus. It was wonderful to have a cozy place to come home to after a day of exploring. Location was quiet, close to many things and a short walk to public transportation. The hosts are fantastic- responsive, gave great suggestions on things to do and just overall lovely people. We hope to come back to stay in the houseboat again!

Comfortable boat suitable for a couple or couple and one child. Once in a lifetime experience. Very convenient location, three metro stops from Central Station. Joost is a wonderful host. He was very responsive to every question. Would have given 5 stars but the dryer did not work. Joost was not aware of the problem and offered to repair but I had already finished my laundry.

I had been to Amsterdam twice and knew I had to come back and stay in a houseboat. This was a dream come true, this was just as the photos show. A lovely quit area, easy to get to by public transportation.

We loved our stay on the houseboat. Joost met us when we arrived and explained everything we needed to know about our 5 days on his houseboat. He had provided us with fruit and a bottle of wine, which was a nice touch. The boat was about 85 feet long and provided us everything we needed for our stay in Amsterdam. The neighborhood was quiet and we noticed many boats passing by with happy people. The Metro was a block away and many other sites and activities were within short walking distance. We visited Haarlem, Zaanse Schan, Keukenhof, Clara Maria cheese farm, and sites around Amsterdam while we were there. Definitely stay here if you can when you visit Amsterdam.

We have stayed at riads in Morocco, a tent in the Sahara, a water bungalow in the tropics... so it was just fitting to stay in a houseboat in Amsterdam! And Joost's houseboat provided that most unique and memorable experience! This houseboat was bright but warm and cozy, simple but modern, and absolutely comfortable and well maintained! It is close to public transportation and parking is available. Joost is a gracious and responsible host and responds to inquiries readily. If you stay in this houseboat, you do not need a view, because you are the view! Thank you, Joost, for sharing your home with us!

We enjoyed our stay here. We visited 4 countries and by far this houseboat was the only place that felt like home for me and my family. The house boat was warm and had all the ammenities we needed. Our 3 year old enjoyed the toys and fruit. My husband and I were welcomed with fruit, beer and wine. We felt very loved. We actually enjoyed spending more time on the boat than sight seeing. We had the opportunity to play instruments, listen to an amazing vinyl collection and cook meals. We were centrally located to everything and we always had our host available for help. Everything from the plants to the disco ball made us feel right at home We can't wait to return. Thank you for everything.

All went as well as expected from the reviews. Comfortable houseboat and easy to find. Thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere rather than a hotel room. Had a very enjoyable time!

Recently stayed for 3 nights and couldn't have been more pleased. The boat has a surprisingly spacious kitchen/dining/living area, very comfortable and neat. Host Joost was extremely helpful in orienting us to the boat, even though it really wasn't that much different from staying in an apartment. He also gave us good tips on activities in Amsterdam. Great choice for those wanting their own space.

This would be our 15th visit to Amsterdam and this will stand out as the best trip yet! This is largely due to being so warmly welcomed into Joost's superb boat home and instantly feeling at home. Both Joost and Kiek are extremely friendly and approachable. The communication prior to our arrival was top service and really helpful regarding our needs. Being on the boat was so relaxing, perfect after visiting the city. It really felt like we were part of the city, right in amongst the daily life of Amsterdam, yet really quite and calming. It's a very unique experience staying on such a cool house boat, the decor and design is a fun style. The location is super convenient, really easy access by foot to explore the center and you have all daily shopping needs on your doorstep. The metro is close, quick and easy to use if you need it. I know my friends and I will visit again, we simply fell in love with it. Thank you Joost and Kiek, see you again in the future.

We were welcomed by Joost to their bright and cheery houseboat on a safe and lovely canal in Amsterdam. Close enough to everything yet quaint and comfortable. We were made to feel right at home and enjoyed our stay immensely. Would love to return!

We enjoyed our stay on this houseboat in Amsterdam. Our teen girls loved the experience and thought it was cool. The houseboat is very comfortable, clean and cozy. It does not rock at all (something my one daughter was worried about). The location is great - there are few restaurants that seemed family friendly in the neighbourhood but the tram was a half block away and easily took us where we needed. The tram also gave great access to the museums and attractions. We bought a two day pass to use. There is a great bakery near the tram stop for breakfast. It was also a quiet neighbourhood. Joost was a great host. Thanks for some fun memories.
