Staff cannot really speak English, very hard to communicate!

Location is good for If you prefer to stay in Pudong area.

Terrible staff in the new building reception area. Not professionally trained and lack of knowledge with a poker face to their guests.

It’s a nice hotel with comfortable and peaceful rooms. The location is convenient and close to the metro. It is less lively than other areas such as Nanjing Road which may or may not be a positive depending on what guests are looking for - the metro stops at around 11pm for reference.

The hotel itself is a little dated and so did not have the wow factor of some other Shangri La hotels.

Great location, close to shops and restaurants. And very good view.

The facilities are a bit old and the room is a bit damp as the building is close to the river. The hotel actually has two buildings but we didn’t know until check in. The staff who helped with check in asked us to confirm which building we booked in and suggested us to go to the other building for checkin as there was a queue for this building which was a bit confusing.

Breakfast is below par for a 5 stars hotel. Taste of most foods is not as good.

My room had cigarette smell when I firstly entered it in the afternoon, I had to let AC fully blow while visiting other places, by the time I returned back at night, it’s better but could still smell a bit, I was too exhausted to ask for a different room.

City view room in olriginal building was superb, not juat the view l. I am tall so large bath was much appreciated, everything worked well. Breakfast amazing, Jade Lounge bar at t op of new building classy, overall this lived up to the 5 star experience promised!

The pool was a bit on the small side but saun, steam room and hot tub made up for it

Room size & location of the hotel

There seems no staff to help with luggages when I was checking in near midnight, I had to walk with 2suitcases to the lifts and the lobby was on levelled ground with sliding path on the side only; when having buffet breakfast in the morning I tried to ask a chef (who was standing by the food stands) of where’s dumplings but he answered NO straightway without even thinking OR not even bothered to try& help, but I found dumplings literally 5meters behind him later on. Luckily the front desk staffs were polite and helpful still.
