For a budget home stay coco house was amazing & beds super comfortable , staff couldn’t be more helpful, location was great right on the river!

Local loud speaker woke us up early (but would have been the same everywhere)

We really liked the proximity to the water and the free use of the stand up paddle boards. The staff were very helpful and helped us to easily rent a scooter and book our bus tickets. The vibe is very chilled and laid back.

Our only complaint was that there could be more an outdoor, shaded chill space to hang out during the day so you don't have to be in your room when it's super hot. Also the owner was super friendly but he forgot we were arriving at 4am so nobody was there to check us in which was a bit frustrating. Otherwise all decent.

Hotel is in nice place next to the river so the view is really cool. You can rent paddle board and swim on a river.

Smell in the room was not nice (it was humid). Room is really dark because window is going out on the covers yard. Area could be renovated. We were expecting more lively hotel but it wasn’t.

Price was reasonable. Staff very helpful.

Breakfast was only suficient to put something in your stomach. Place gets noisy in the early morning.

The bathroom in the first room was a bit dirty.

The location was stunning. We had a river view room and it was idyllic. It was only a short 5 minute walk into the centre of town. The homestay is split between two locations and we had a short walk to have breakfast, but this only took about 30-40 seconds and was quicker than descending in a lift when staying in a high rise hotel. The family are delightful and let us use their washing machine to wash our clothes. The menu for dinner is basic but lovely food, there are also plenty of options nearby. A lot of reviews talk about the hot water. There is a water heater in the bathroom. The hot water can run out if you take long showers. However, we didn’t find this an issue because we knew about it beforehand and showered accordingly. The homestay is rated as 1 star. However, it was far nicer than some 4 star hotels we’ve stayed at in Vietnam; the star system doesn’t appear to be standardised.

There was little we didn’t like about the Homestay. However, we offer some constructive feedback as follows. There’s no shower curtain around the shower, so the whole bathroom gets wet when you shower. A shower curtain would help minimise this and keep the toilet and general floor area dry. They only provide 2 towels; a third to use to dry the bathroom floor or a squeegee would be helpful. They need to inform guests about the hot water system and how long hot water lasts; we only knows about this from the reviews. We booked a car transfer from the train station in Dong Hoi but the driver didn’t turn up. However, we found that negotiating a taxi at the station saved us 150,000 Dong, so I wouldn’t bother booking through the Homestay.

We stayed in the family room with large double bed and bunk beds. It was very comfortable. We were there in the cold season and staff provided us with extra blankets. We also borrowed bicycles from Coco House to explore the town. Breakfast was fantastic. The hosts were super kind and helped us arrange a tour and onward travel. We had an awesome stay in this idealic location.

Neighbours can have some loud karaoke nights, but didn't last too long :)

To wake up with the river and mountains in front of you, well that's a landscape I could see every day. We booked the mountain view rooms and it was the perfect choice with a dedicated terrace. They have a separate terrace with mountain view for the other rooms. The staff is nice, friendly and super helpful. We booked through them rides to/from Dong Hoi airport, tours caves & jungle trekking (totally recommend the jungle trekking), and they even helped with buying a birthday cake for our friend. For breakfast you can choose one food option & one drink - very happy with the omlette and also with the banana pancakes.

Hot water is only available as long as the 15 liters boiler is full... and that runs out quickly. Showers are done in a hury. The rooms aren't sound proof, so you will wake up as soon as things start going in Phong Nha - i think that's an issue for any accomodation. Wouldn't recommend having dinner there. Not so many options, and there are plenty of other very good places in Phong Nha. They have two separate accomodation spaces, at a 50 - 100 meters walking distance, so you'll have to walk to CoCo riverside for breakfast.

Lovely staff, very approachable, helpful and hospitable. Loved being able to borrow a bicycle - best way to see the local area. Comfortable room with fantastic balcony with river and mountain views. Water provided.

everything, it exceeded my expectations and the family that ran this are lovely, helpful and help you whatever your need may be.

The only thing I could have wanted was a kettle in the room for a cuppa whenever I fancied.

The location was very good. Got few french and Indian food as well.

1. Our hosts were so kind, even picking us up from the bus stop at 5am so we didn't have to walk 20 mins with our luggage (the sleeper bus didn't drop us off as centrally as it normally does...), as well as helping us book our onward sleeper bus to Hue, providing us with a good quality motorbike and helmets so we could visit Paradise Cave ourselves and even sharing their umbrella with us! They were also great at answering any questions we had (and we had a lot)! Much appreciated. 2. Gorgeous view from the room / balcony (see image). 3. Cleanliness of the room. 4. Value for money (especially with breakfast included!). 5. Their onsite restaurant was also a good place to get dinner in the evening after a long day of exploring. 6. Good, strong air con (not that we needed it as it was cold / rainy season!). 7. WiFi worked very well. 8. Nice touches in the room, e.g. slippers for wearing indoors, good quality refillable soap and shampoo. 9. Good location, could easily walk to several restaurants nearby and the boat station for Phong Nha Cave tour (must!).

1. The room did have a slight damp smell and occasionally the drain in the bathroom didn't smell very nice - however, this is totally understandable considering the location, and overall the hosts and cleanliness of the room itself outweighed this. 2. The hot water ran out quickly, but minor considering value for money.

the property was very comfortable right on the river. the breakfast was super basic but tasted good anyway. there were two women working there that were beyond kind and even let me jtake a shower there in evening when I came back from a trek even though I had already checked out.

the owner invited me one night for dinner at the homestay restaurant for free but on that night they didn’t have many things i tried to order because they didn’t go to the market. the bathroom sink had loads of ants coming out of the holes which was kind of gross. The staff were very very kind but also it felt like they were always trying to sell me something or get me to book another thing with them. it was a little tiring.

spacious room and the shower was good. great location and lovely staff. they organised a brilliant cave tour for the next day after we arrived late. The tour was excellent and well priced.
