Staff isn't exactly the smiling type but did help me when asked.

Difficult to contact hotel staff or reservation via on Booking.com chat message. The hotel have missed several of my important information.

Perfect location. All within walking distance.

Proximity to East Nanjing Road

Access and entrance lobby - terrible

The hotel is very conveniently located, right off of East Nanjing Road on a bustling side street that feels like "old Shangha." There is a convenience store directly across the street to pick up quick items, and the E Nanjing metro station is within a five minute walk from the front door. Cheap local restaurants are everywhere, but East Nanjing's shopping corridor brings international flavor to the neighborhood. The rooms are relatively spacious and, in my experience, very clean. The bed was big and comfortable. The bathroom was well-decorated. Each floor has a water station with bottled water, saving guests time and money instead of picking up their own bottles from c-stores nearby. Front desk staff were especially helpful. I do not speak much Mandarin, but (I assume it was) the general manager was friendly and informative. They even held my phone overnight when I lost it! I was extremely grateful for their assistance.

5 minutes to nearest metro stop. 15 minutes walk to the Bund. Comfortable bed. A few nice 1930s interior features. Breakfast OK.

Disposable paper cups in room for complimentary coffee/tea made it a 'cheap experience' therefore the room felt 'over-priced' - couldn't even hold the cup with hot liquid in. Coffee machine pods not replenished for second morning of stay. Gym ill-equipped and tucked away in tiny room, and accessible just by asking staff to get a key and then trapesing behind them - had only a couple of cycle machines and a sit-up bench, a 'token gesture' so very disappointing - hence didn't use. Windows didn't shut completely, so noise from street could be heard. Hard to find as not very visible from main street.

Chic design, central and convenient location. Room much smaller than expected, but the layout was very well thought through and well executed, so it's still nice overall. Bed was comfortable, everything was nice and clean.

The room's window can neither be opened nor closed completely, which means there's no way of shutting out the noise from neighborhood. Local people tend to talk/yell loudly and due to the weird window configuration, you can neither open the window to yell at them to shut up (not that it's going to work) nor shut the window so that you can regain some peace. The air conditioning definitely needs some tuning, it was loud and blowing straight above my head: I was either too hot (because there's no air circulation) or woken up by the machine turning on and having a headache due to cold air blowing straight to my head. It seems like Chinese hotels do not respect "do not disturb" signs left by their guests. We did not want room cleaning service and left the DND sign on, only to find our room completely cleaned and bed made upon our return. I have such experience at another hotel in Beijing, so I think it might be just the way it is for Chinese hotels. So remember to always put your stuff away, because they'll enter your room regardless of your wish.

Location is awesome, just follow Exit 1 of East Nanjing Road Metro Station. When you climbed the last steps of the Exit 1, go right and another 20m turn right again into a small side street. After about 50m, the hotel is on the right side. Via Nanjing East Road Station you can get to all sights quite easily, was there for the F1 race and all was smooth and good. Rooms were clean and good, bed was comfortable and they have awesome bath amenities, everything you need.

As usual in China, English of the staff was bad, but they tried their best and with internet translator it worked out.
