Rating Details: The property manager was very unhelpful. The vacation rental was very dirty. I was happy with the location. I was very dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Thank goodness the outside views made up for the interior view. Checked into this house to find dirty bedding and bare-minimum cleaning. Spent the first night of our family vacation doing laundry (had to buy detergent for all that bedding) and didn’t even get a response from management when I sent a message about it. In addition, rooms were missing smoke detectors and the closets were full of other balled-up bedding and junk. To top it off, we found google reviews from other renters noting the exact same issues! We’ve stayed in many other rentals in the hills and NEVER have encountered issues like this one. A response back would have helped immensely—or better yet an apology and discount.

Reviewer Comments: We have stayed in the Black Hills numerous times and this was our first (and last) time using Black Hills Adventure Lodging.Upon arrival, we found bedding balled up (not folded) in a closet. We contacted the owner, Budi, to see if the bedding was actually clean. She said she confirmed with the cleaners that it was clean, but they ran out of time to fold it. The rest of the cabin was barely cleaned, the main floor was incredibly dusty. The dryer didn't work, and the vent was completely clogged with dust and lint. Most of the rooms had a smoke detector mount, but the smoke detectors were missing/out of batteries. One of our guests left a bag in the basement closet (the same closet that the bedding was balled up in). After numerous attempts (5+ phone calls and texts) to contact the management to see if we could retrieve the bag, we were informed that the cleaners did not find the bag. Which to me means the cleaners did not replace the bedding when they cleaned. The family staying after us did find the bag, and we were informed we could get the bag after they checked out. At this point we took matters into our own hands and decided to visit the house directly to get the bag from those guests, as it contained a work computer. I would not recommend Black Hills Adventure Lodging to anyone.

Everything was great

Family ski trip-totally enjoyed the stay. Positive: The kitchen is amazing-totally stocked with everything we needed!! Negative: The hot tub was old, cloudy and not very hot.

Beds pretty comfortable-a lot of pillows are very flat and stiff. Wifi slow-made it difficult for a couple people who needed to work a few hours. Floor looks nice but is not sealed: spilled a glass of water in the hallway in front of staircase to downstairs and it leaked through the ceiling into the basement. For a home that “sleeps 20” a bigger hottub would be nice that could accommodate more than 4 people at a time. It’s in the woods and one would expect “visitors” so a few more mouse traps would be helpful. Lastly, it could use a deep clean (baseboard, corners of rooms, wash/change bathroom rugs etc).

Location and views were perfect. Very clean and each room had supplies necessary for our 3-night stay. We would book this lodge again. Thank you.

Location was great. Parking was tricky with 5 vehicles. House needs a good cleaning. Basement bathroom was missing vanity bulb, had cobwebs, dirty shower curtain and vent fan, toilet paper holder was broken. The coffee table in living room is broken and has screws sticking out of it. The couch bed in basement is missing mattress and broken. Vent in stairwell to basement and wall beside fridge was very dirty. The light above island in kitchen had a burned out bulb. A couple of stools around island were broken. The vanity lights in upstairs bathroom didn’t work at all and shower curtain was dirty. The dryer took at least 3 cycles to dry which was a hugh problem since there was not near enough towels or wash cloths. We had to go to the store and buy some just so we could all shower. The freezer and fridge had old food that needs to be cleaned out. The bedrooms could use a dresser or table so we don’t have to put all of our things on the floor. We definitely left the house in better condition than when we arrived.

The property was just the right fit for our family getaway! Good location to all the things we wanted to take in. Great communication before and during our stay made things easy and seamless. Only complaint, the couch in the basement is broken. It’s fairly uncomfortable to sit on and impossible to pull out to sleep on.

This is the first time that we have experienced walking into a cabin and finding a mess. The add said that it housed 22 people. We had 15 people and there wasn’t enough room for sleeping that many. We could barely sleep 15. When we got there there were beer cans and junk all over the yard. When we walked in we went to unpack our food and we had a fridge full of alcohol. As we prepared for setting up the sleeping arrangements we went to the sofa bed in the family room to open it and it was broken. When we went to use the hot tub is was cold and there was no chemicals. When we went on line the pictures outdid the real cabin. It was not at all lijke the real cabin, it was nice but it was not what we were seeing it was a bit of a disappointment.. I would hope that we will get our deposit back as the cabin was cleaner when we left then when we came

They are always clean and ready to go when we get there and so close to terry peak ski area! Even when we need something we get a quick response and someone drops it off sometime that day.

Overall the property was nice. We had enough space for everyone and had a good time playing board games. The parking is tricky for such a large cabin and the hot tub had not been cleaned when we arrived but having gone through waiting for a hot tub to warm up on a trip before; so we decided to deal with it. The heating is a bit odd as the basement was usually cold while upstairs was toasty. The vacuum did not work very well but it managed.

The house completely suited our needs and was comfortable for our vacation.

The cabin was beautiful, clean, and spacious. the owner decorated the cabin beautifully with a perfect Christmas tree to place all of our gifts under. The views were lovely. The location is super convenient. We could actually walk to Terry Peak. The owner was very helpful and responsive with any questions we had during our stay. We would definitely come back again!

We replaced the kitchen sponges and paper towels we used for the next renters. All appliances were clean and worked great. The hot tub was dirty so we didn't use it. The vacuum needs to be replaced, I used it during our stay and it wouldn't even pick up trail mix. The beds should have mattress protectors on them. Pillows and bath towels also need to be replaced. In the basement we had no wash cloths in our bathroom and only 2 washcloths in the other bathrooms. A drawer handle was missing in the kitchen and I had to replace 2 lightbulbs in the basement bathroom. I had trouble with the door lock on the main floor patio door. The basement couch could use some throw pillows.
