FernHaven is a lovely, warm and inviting home. The owners have it stocked with all the necessary amenities plus lots of extras. The location is a great jumping off spot for activities in the area. The owners are very attentive and easy to reach.

A gorgeous dog friendly property in the woods just north of Sommes Sound. Very private and quiet. Easy commute to either Bar Harbor or Southwest Harbor. Nicely equipped, great kitchen and very comfortable master bedroom with a comfortable king bed. Meeting Kirk was special... very accomodating owners. Would be large enough for a family; for the two of us and our shy golden retriever it was perfect.

My wife and I and our two dogs had a great stay. We were lucky to find Fernhaven. It's a short drive to Acadia, cafes, restaurants, etc., and the property is a nice place to relax, private, set back from main roads. Kirk was very accommodating and responded quickly to any questions.

This house is amazing. Probably the best place we have stayed. Clean, comfy, plenty to do, great kitchen, and perfect location. I would 100% stay again.

The home was perfect! Super clean and well cared for! We would stay again for sure! The garden was full of herbs and end of season veggies making amazing meals! The communication with the owner was perfect! Our first time renting VRBO and will do again! The property it situated perfectly on the Island! The owners have a welcome book to help with the best eateries and places to visit, helped perfectly! Be sure to check out the parks reservations schedule for Cadillac Mountain, we saw several vehicles turned away as they did NOT have reservations! This is the best, most beautiful National Park we have visited yet!

A wonderful home close to Acadia and BH but so nice and quiet spent time just relaxing in the woods; had one problem with the water pressure but the host fixed it that day, very responsive, folks loved the garden, and the hot tub was used!

We enjoyed our stay in Bar Harbor, the house withstood the winds and ran of hurricane Lee. The home owners provided everything we needed for our trip.

We throughly enjoyed our stay at FernHaven - the property was just amazing. The home was one of the best outfitted we have seen - plus a Hot tub for sore muscles after hiking, badminton in the evening, a fresh garden to supplement dinner, a firepit with smore fixins, and it’s own little trail to explore. The home was 15 min outside of Bar Harbor with easy access to both the east and west sides of Acadia. Hosts were easy to communicate with and quick to respond. Thanks so much for an amazing trip!

Beautiful home close to everything we wanted to experience! Great communication with owners from the start. The house had everything we needed. Loved spending our evenings around the fire and using the hot tub. This home is exactly as listed. Grateful for our week at Fernhaven.

This was our first visit to Maine and the perfect location for Acadia National Forest activities. We live in a large city and wanted to stay in a quieter/peaceful location but with option of accessing Bar Harbor. House is ~15 min drive. From booking to checkout, there was clear communication with Kirk. We had 5 family members which included our two teens (13 & 17) and a senior (83 years old). We were able to easily access Acadia National park and the Carriage Roads system throughout MDI. There are carriage roads that are easy walks around a lake and accessible to all in our family. The house is comfortable, clean and safe. The Lurvey’s have ensured that pretty much anything you need for your stay is available. Check in first, then get groceries. Chances are the kitchen pantry has what you need. One of the most well appointed VRBO’s we’ve rented. Beds are comfortable and house is spacious. The finished basement was great retreat. Our kids opted to share the “fun room,” which is the yellow upstairs bedroom with access to a nook in the attic. There’s a light and even a fan and little window up there to make it more comfortable for reading on a cushioned mat. We played badminton a lot. We stargazed while jacuzzing. Travelin Lobster hot roll was best we had. Sweet Pea Farm was great for lunch. Jordan Pond lunch also nice, but weak mojitos. Leary’s Pub downtown has good drinks/food. Everything about this home made for a memorable stay during our Bar Harbor visit. Thank you!

This home is lovely, and the host (Kirk) is so friendly & helpful! I stayed for the days with my mother, my brother & his wife, and my two nieces (both 5 & under), and we each loved it. The house is spacious, very clean, and has lovely bonus features like the garden, hot tub, plenty of kids' toys, and a small attic reading nook with a mural of a squid & a dragon! The downstairs is basically a movie theater, and was great to play ad hang out in, since it was rainy for most of our stay. When we did get sun, we drive about 15-20 minutes to downtown Bar Harbor, and about the same distance when we visited various hikes & the Park Loop Road in Acadia. I highly recommend staying here, particularly if you have two families, many friends or multiple generations staying together!

The house really feels like a home. We cooked all our meals in the well-stocked kitchen, and enjoyed hanging out in the hot tub at night and relaxing in the living room each morning. The proximity to Acadia was perfect for our hiking excursions and exploring the park.

We greatly enjoyed our stay. The house is well equipped, very comfortable, and in a great location for visiting Bar Harbor, Acadia NP, and surrounding areas. The owners were great and very communicative.

My wife, kids (6 and 8), and I loved staying in Kirk and Claudine's house. It's centrally located, has everything we needed, and the owners were helpful during and after our visit (we left something behind). We especially loved the vegetable garden, and as a longtime fan and supporter of Acadia, I appreciated Kirk's full commitment to the park with all of the prints, books, and other memorabilia. We hope to stay here again next year when we return.

Lovely property and surroundings. Kitchen is well-supplied and spacious. Great yard with volley ball net and hot tub were fun! Owner was very responsive and helpful. We would love to return to Acadia National Park and stay here again.

The property was even better than expected! We loved our “cabin in the woods.” The location was very convenient to Bar Harbor and Acadia but wonderfully quiet and private.

The perfect house for our first family getaway to Maine. The house exceeded our expectations. The location was perfect and the hot tub was a great way to end a day of hiking. Would definitely book again!

Way exceeded our expectations! Loved the proximity to the park and Bar Harbor, yet still felt like a quiet world away. Our kids absolutely loved the dragon lair, bunny trail, and all the legos!! Highly recommend for those with kids. Kirk was a great host and we will definitely recommend!!

The house is well situated on Mt. Desert Island to afford easy driving access to the sites in Acadia National Park as well as Bar Harbor and other towns. It is very quiet and peaceful with a lovely vegetable garden. I highly recommend it!

Our group of 7 (Teenagers through Grandparents) really enjoyed staying at the house. It is on a very private large lot where we could play badminton, go in the hot tub, gather blueberries, and enjoy looking at the stars by the fire pit. The kitchen was the most stocked of any VRBO I have stayed in for the past 10 years. The location was fantastic - 15 minutes to Bar Harbor, the top of Cadillac Mtn, Northeast Harbor, and really anywhere on the island. All was exactly as described and made for a great week in MDI. I can't say enough wonderful things about this property and the hosts. The pictures don't even do the house justice - I promise it is more wonderful in person.
