This is a very nice property, on a mountain road with beautiful views. The area is still under development with only a few homes on the mountain. The house is clean to sleep at but lacks normal courtesies, otherwise I would have accepted the offer to leave/refund despite being 9PM and over an hour from any decent hotel. We've rented nearly a dozen similar homes from VRBO over the years. When you spend to rent a home like this one, it should be with little or no compromise. The unfortunate part is everything you'll read about in the prior reviews and more still exists. I spoke with the manager and she almost immediately took a defensive posture despite the fact that most of the items were possibly prior renter or maintenance items that I figured had not have been communicated. Turns out the manager said the last group to stay were the owners. I got no apology but plenty of excuses. I'll list below what we found but its clear the mentality is that regardless of the price, what they provide is supposed to be...good enough. Bag of open pretzels left in upstairs TV area. McD's trash left in kitchen garbage. Coffee Table glass has multiple cracks (Mgr known) be careful with young children. Frying Pan handles get very hot and can burn! Grill cover was on the ground, brushes laying around (blamed on 70MPH winds) but wind doesn't turn the bottle on too. Did not use grill because its heavily rusted (blamed on SD weather, told to cover with foil and it will work fine) New England weather is no different. Repair it, have renters spray it with PAM but don't make it our problem. Kitchen facet is loose in the sink mounting. 4 light bulbs are out in the house. Ceiling fan in downstairs bedroom is filthy. Dead Flies in some windows but many more in lamp shades that point upward. You'll see the shadows in the dining room light. Very few spoons. Just 3 glasses (different sizes) and one jelly jar! Some Solo and old plastics cups but Wine glasses, goblets and shot glasses galore. Very few plates that are not chipped. (We just ran the dishwasher after each meal) Towels smell after one use, washed them, same issue. They are just old and hold odor so we washed them after each use. Foil is used in the bottom of oven to keep it clean but it isn't replaced regularly. Oven fully smoked up at only 325 degrees when preheating it for warming bread. Fireplace remote doesn't work, even with new batteries. ETC... $600 at Target and a vacuum would fix most of this.

Beautiful property, location and atmosphere

We enjoyed the stay at this beautiful house. It was a 2 car garage, but the one side had a skid loader with snow blower in it so we had to park one vehicle outside, which we survived, nothing tragic. The hot tub was ready when we pulled up. The kids loved the upstairs to call their sleeping spots. The kitchen was great, and yes as I read in one review the pan we used was not a not stick, again we survived. All in all this place was a great place to stay.

I over analyze. This was the right choice. Perfect for 2-8 people. Bring a good nonstick pan, paper towels, laundry detergent, kitchen wash cloths, tissues, zip lock baggies. a bar of soap, and quarters. I own a ranch in the southern hills, this was a nice change of pace. If you are looking for a house in this area, quit looking, book it. Thanks, Clayton

This cabin was everything and MORE than expected. From the cabin itself, the hot tub, the views …. I could go on and on AND ON about this place. The pictures and the info just don’t do it justice. Come and see this gem for yourself! We barely left the cabin our whole stay, there was plenty to do. Very well stocked, don’t worry about needing anything during your stay. We Fell in love with this space for sure. I have told so many about it and we will be back without a doubt!! Thank you for sharing this amazing place with us.

Nice place for group of friends to go riding. Very secluded area, great views! But since we were pulling trailers with UTVs on them it would have been nice to have been warned about the work being done to the main gravel road that leads to the house. We had checked out the location when we were there in June and it was a nice gravel road at that time. They might also want to have housekeeping deal with all the dead flies in all the windowsills and light fixtures. For such a big house kitchen it was very limited on dishes, silverware, bowls, etc. Would consider staying again, especially if the main road ends up getting paved.

Property was very beautiful. The views are great. Everything worked great and as described. One thing to note was there no A/C. Which when i booked never even thought to make sure there was A/C. Not a deal breaker and it does cool down nice in the evening. Overall a 5 star property.

We loved the house, it was beautiful and the view is amazing. We were looking forward to using the hot tub but it wasn't working and that would have been nice to know ahead of time. The layout of the home works great for a large family and we'd definitely stay here again.

We adventured around and truly enjoyed our surroundings of a beautiful view!! The cabin fit all 9 of us very comfortably. It was supplied really well for all our needs. Our only issue was finding out internet connection, which the owners helped out and it was taken care of and the stove was out (but we had a smaller toaster oven and grill to use) . The hot tub we could not use but that was ok with us as there is a beautiful deck to sit on and watch the sunsets. Our family comes to the Black Hills every summer and rents a cabin for our family vacation. We were pleased with this cabin and location. We were unable to use hot tub due to some issues, but other then that it was very accommodating. Plenty of linens and cooking supplies available. It’s located on Terry Peak so the views were wonderful off the wrap around deck. We would recommend to anyone looking for a peaceful getaway. The cabin was very spacious and nicely decorated . the location had a amazing view , however it was a long gravel road to get to the cabin. There were several things that were not working, the oven, clothes dryer, hot tub, the tub/shower drain in the basement drained really slow, the air conditioning wasn't keeping up, it was always 80 degrees when we returned home from sightseeing no matter what it was set at. With it being so warm there were a lot of dead flies by the window areas . Overall the space was great and we had a memorable vacation

Gorgeous home with lots of space. Perfect for multiple or large families. Beautiful views. Peaceful and quiet location. As life often happens, there were a few challenges with our stay that were weather related. (Can’t do anything about that.) The owner was responsive, easy to reach and worked with us to meet our needsand make things right.

We came to ride UTV’s and really enjoyed how close we were to trail access! We enjoyed a trip into deadwood and the drive through spearfish. Plenty of room for the family to spread out. A very clean, and very well appointed property within easy driving distance of Deadwood, Spearfish Canyon, Spearfish, Rushmore, and I90. Budi was very attentive and quick to respond to inquiries before and during our stay. Some constructive feedback: -Please replace outside trashcans. Much easier to put garbage in those instead of leaving bags out for pickup. Was concern that small animals would poke holes in bag over night. -Replace some of the furniture on the deck. You're down to only 3 chairs at the outside table, Family of 4 can't have a meal together out there. -Fix lighting over stove. Undermount lighting was not operational. VERY dark over stove regardless of time of day. Makes it difficult to cook meals. -Check in on cleaning staff from time to time and walk around property. I personally picked up 3 beer cans (2 of them full/unopened) and 4 beer bottles from the area around/below the deck that were clearly visible from the deck. The date on them was from March so they had been there for awhile. Cigarette butts were also visible near the bottom of the stairs on the side of deck. We would definitely rent this property in the future. Absolutely loved this layout and seclusion of this property and the western sky was absolutely beautiful for sunset!
