The toilet was clean and the beds were really comfy. Nice window view of the sea of Penang. The location is also near to Chulia Street for the night streets/cafes/bars. Staff were really helpful and friendly as well.
Toilet bath shampoo and body soap smelled a little strange and room service did not replace them.

The staff are great. I lost count of the number of issues I had, but they tried their best to help me and make me feel welcomed / comfortable. Special shoutout to Michael for going above and beyond!
The hotel is very close to lots of major sites, and the room was spacious.
Firstly, if you are staying at the front of the building, be prepared for noise all night. Bring ear-plugs. If it's not the music, it's the birds chirping or cars zooming down! Very very noisy!!
The internet connection in the higher levels didn't work for me (level 6). So I was moved to a lower level, but then this didn't help my noise issue, as I was closer to the street (level 2).
I also had a number of things broken in my room. The staff fixed as many as possible, and as I was only there two nights, I tried to just get on with it.

the location is good near to supermarkets and restaurant also. the staffs are always helpful during our stay in penang we only book in merchant hotel. we love the place

Les femmes du petit déjeuner sont vraiment désagréable , j’étais devant elle pour lui demander des œufs et elle faisait comme si elle m’entendait pas pourtant il n’y avait que nous. Puis c’est sa collègue qui est arrivée pour me demander si j’avais besoin d’aide.
Le petit déjeuner très pauvre , a 9h30 le biffet est déjà plié et quand il n’y a pas beaucoup de client il n’y a pas de buffet du tout.
La chambre est totalement vide, il y a un lit, un miroir, une petite table est une tv sans satellite.

Bilik yang cantik.pemandangan yang cantik.mempunyai kemudahan parking serta Ada pengawal Keselamatan menjaga parking.lokasi di tengah2 Bandar.mempunyai bathtub..sarapan yang disediakan sedap dan Banyak pilihan.
Menu sarapan yang disediakan sama 2 Hari berturut turut.tandas di ruangan tingkat lobby Bawah kurang memuaskan...

The location is excellent in term of travelling to places of interest. There is also a free CAT bus stop just outside the hotel. The hotel rooms are not very sound proof. There is a mosque close by. You will be awakened very early in the morning by the mosque.
In addition there is singing at the Red Garden Food Paradise which is behind the hotel. The singing can be heard in the room till late night.
The Wifi in the hotel is not strong. There is a stream of ants coming into the toilet. I asked the cleaner to spray insecticide and he sprayed deordourizer instead. I had to kill the ants myself every now and then with tissue papers.

The location is great, easy to access to julia street and Chowrasta Market by walk.
The hotel is near the mosque, if you are kindly sensitive to sound or noise, this place is not suitable for you.

near to many eatery and attraction place which is walkable distance, parking is easy
bathtub is old and not really clean, got hollow under the bathtub so not comfortable when step in for shower. pillow got yellow stained and not comfortable.

Good location in the heart of Georgetown, easy to walk many places from here.
The room was quite old and musty (carpet looks like it hadn’t been replaced in years). The linens looked old and worn but at least they smelled clean (like detergent). The bathroom design was also poor so water splashed everywhere during a shower and the floor was soaking wet. The shower also had cold water.

I like that the hotel is nearby to many cafe and bar, which are mainly operating at night.
I have stayed Merchant hotel for work purpose around 4 days 3 nights. The telephone does not work, informed the reception about it but nothing has been done. I had to call the reception using my mobile phone and request for the iron board and iron (took 15 minutes to arrive to my doorstep). I do not like the breakfast on first day, it was a pitiful plate of nasi lemak. The following days the hotel does not provide jam and butter. Only a spoonful of jam and butter were given together with the breakfast set, the breakfast set is nice though. The aircon is blowing directly to my head because aircon is position directly in front of the bed, I had to sleep diagonally to avoid post-sleep dryness and runny nose. The room is overall dark and too "romantic", other than that, due to the carpet floor I strongly believe it's what caused me to have allergy reaction of nose and eyes for 4 days straight, it seriously affects my work trip to meet client.
