A really unique experience to be sleeping in a jail cell! We absolutely loved it!

If you want to spend a night in jail and want to stay in a place so much history, this is the place to be! Also super clean!

Breakfast a bit expensive for what you get

The prison setting is very cool - they've done an excellent job of making this a very comfortable hotel whilst retaining the historical features. Excellent value for money and location.

The hostel is right in the center of Leeuwarden, in an old prison which makes it special. It has a kitchen which is super clean with everything you need and an area to eat. The room and beds were comfortable and it was quiet.

No private bathroom or toilets. We had to change floor to reach them. Only 2 toilets.

I've stayed here quite a few times, so no surprises. I like the young, friendly staff. They are very informal. The rooms are very basic, which is great because I travel with dogs and there is nothing for them to damage. There is a shared bathroom and shower on the landing, but it just works. They also have a kitchen where you can cook your own food. I'd recommend people stay here in the winter when it is quieter. It has a really nice vibe and you get the place more or less to yourself. Or at least I did.

It's 40 euros for a room. What more do you want. There is nothing to dislike. The choice is to stay in a chain hotel, pay double the price, and leave unhappy or indifferent to the experience.

Inventive use of an old jail! Went out of their way to make sure our bikes were locked up and safe. Very friendly staff!!

It was a prison, so do not expect the ritz level of compfort and sofistication 🤣 shared showers can be accepted. More convieniant plugs for charging things would be nice.

Centrally located in Leeuwarden city, Alibi hostel gives easy access to the town sites. Staying in an ex-prison is something a bit different and makes a good conversation starter, "Have you ever been in prison?" The staff were all very friendly and helpful.

Understanding the prison theme that the hostel is based on I still found the room a bit too sparse. Looking at the museum photos of the prison as it was when it was in use showed more decoration and "comfort" than current. The room consists of a bed, reading light, 1 desk and chair, and a small open cabinet for storing your personal items.

i love the room! it was quiet, clean and overall very nice. the showers are also squeaky clean. i only had trouble finding the toilet because the sign was the same with the sign of rooms hence it was a bit confusing

maybe change the signs of the toilet because it is highly confusing as they are the same colours as the bedrooms. if possible, supply disposable slippers as well

Interesting place to stay, rooms are small and you have to share bathrooms but it is ok, the place is clean and very cool with great location.

Allow to open the windows for fresh air, there is no AC. I recommend to add some shelves in the showers to put the soap etc.

The hotel is situated in an old prison, and everything is done to preserve the building and the prison feel. Rooms are simple, no TV, but the bed was very comfortable. The staff is very friendly. As it is a hostel, there is a kitchen to cook your own food

We had pretty hot weather, but due to the fact that the building is a monument, the windows are the same as they were when it was a prison. Which means that there is only limited option to open them. As there is no airco (it's a monument, and airco is not allowed) it was a bit stuffy. With lower temperatures, that shouldn't be a problem.
