Great location. Friendly and knowledgable staff. The hotel is a beautifully restored heritage building. Excellent attention to detail in design and fixtures throughout.

The staircase in the loft room was fine for us but would be unsuitable for young children or anyone with any mobility issues.

staying at this hotel was a wonderful experience , I felt that I traveled back on time around 1900s , the room was exceptionally clean ! Breakfast was super good and staff were the kindness persons on town.

Staff were extremely helpful in booking trains and info. Breakfast was very good with nice mix of western and Asian food. It's an unique place full of character and books, unlike anything I have stayed in before. The attached cafe sold very welcome smoothies after a hot outing.

Too unusual a hotel to dislike anything!

The location is perfect to get around the centre of Georgetown by foot. The building is very interesting, with a lot of character. Beds are very comfortable and room set up is well planned. Nice shower. Staff is extremely friendly and helpful (our flight to Penang was massively delayed and one person of the staff stayed up to welcome us when we finally arrived at 1am, which was greatly appreciated). Would stay here again for sure.

Everything. Within the Little India area, walking distance to various tourist attractions. It is a "museum" with plenty of history and story. A vintage Inn mixed with traditional shophouse architecture, modern facilities and some nice art pieces. Clean and comfy room with Netflix. Extraordinary hospitality, friendly staff who pay attention to the needs of guests. Ground floor is a restaurant & bar, free breakfast and paid dishes are all delicious. Thank you for providing a wonderful experience.

My stay was exceptional, the location is excellent to know Georgetown, the building is perfect renewed and preserve the original architecture. The staff are great, kind and help you with everything you need. I also recommend the food, is great!

Staff really kind and helpful. The hotel is probably better suited to couples etc than families with young kids but the staff couldn’t have been more helpful or kind to us and our 3-year-old daughter and there were other guests staying with kids who all seemed happy. Overall atmosphere and environment of the hotel are 10/10 an oasis of calm in the middle of a very lively area. Great authentic options from hawker stalls and cafes for breakfast open at 7am in immediate vicinity so we left at 7am every day to have breakfast and went out for a walk and then back for a second breakfast at the hotel at 10am (served 8:30-10:30). Breakfast was fairly basic but nice.

the room is clean. but not worth at all for the money paid rm356. It is not suitable for the local people who going for holiday. it looks like a Chinese ancient room. cement floor ( bathroom) no parking area since the hotel located in middle of little India. very crowded and noisy. worst breakfast. it seems buffet but very limited food and small size of kuih ( a kuih cut into 4 ) very disappointed.

The location is in the George Town near by Little India area. There is secure and prosperity!! Kind staff and cozy room. They provided many kind of breakfast such as fruit, bread and typical food of Malaysian. We have a nice vacation in there! Super recommended!

A beautiful hotel in a unique heritage building. The breakfast was lovely and all the staff were helpful. The location was perfect, close to everything we wanted to visit. Particularly liked the sustainability minded features, e.g. refill station for water bottles rather than having to use plastic.

Nothing - loved everything

This place turned out to be a real highlight on our trip, even though we just had one night. The hosts were so incredibly warm and welcoming and helped us with all our fuss like it was nothing at all. And the house itself is such a beautiful and special piece of architecture they managed to refurbish with an impeccable eye for the details while keeping up the historic integrity of the building. And still - it felt more like visiting family or friends in their beautiful home than staying at some anonymous hotel. We will be coming back to Georgetown, and if just for this place. Thank you so much!

That we had to leave so soon..

Everything about this hotel is unique. From the pulley system to raise you bags to your floor, the wooden bathtub, the sweet and savory local breakfast treats, to the history and decor of the building. Most importantly, the staff was incredibly friendly. It was like staying with old friends

It didn’t bother me, but if you have mobility issues, the stairs are very steep and shallow.

Beautiful, old building with a nice, peaceful vibe. The room was quite spacious and clean. Breakfast was simple but good with freshly made eggs on offer.

Ren I Tang is a gem of a hotel. Perfectly placed in the old quarter of George Town, on Little India's doorstep and within easy walking distance of all the wonderful Chinese eateries and mansions, the place is steeped in a magical history. The staff are so friendly and amenable - showcasing the very best of Malaysian hospitality. They were very helpful and made my stay as easy and as comfortable as possible. They offered great recommendations on which sites to visit and how, and where best to eat. The breakfast was exceptional and the bistro dishes mouth-watering. The Laksa was the standout! The bar also has a superb selection of gins which was perfectly refreshing during those very humid evenings. I also enjoyed a foot and shoulder massage which were well needed after a long flight. What I loved most about this place was that everything seemed special - you felt like you were staying somewhere Agatha Christie might have stayed in the 1920s. Very romantic, nostalgic and worldly. My stay was flawless, I will definitely be coming back!

We travelled for four weeks and this was our favourite hotel. It was clean, our rooms were quiet (rooms 7 and 8), had everything we needed, staff were super friendly and helpful, location was great - could walk to many locations, the breakfast was varied and in quantity, the hotel itself was decorated creatively, we felt safe.
