This is an exceptional hotel. We had the most wonderful stay here. The staff were super friendly and attended to our every need. The hotel has beautiful interiors and our room was supremely well furnished with everything that we needed. There were lovely mountain views. The breakfast was delicious with every taste catered for in an excellent buffet. We booked a transfer from Colombo Airport and to Galle. The transport was comfortable and punctual. There were nice touches for Christmas and the entertainment in the evening was most welcome. We would definitely use this hotel for any return to Kandy. Highly recommended. Thank you so much for a memorable stay!

Very opulent hotel, good value for money. It is situated a little out of town but a short tuktuk ride and you’ll be there. Staff are excellent!

It is starting to show signs of wear - wallpaper curling off at the seams in places, light bulb not working in bedside table, if you stay in one of the rooms under the restaurant it’s very noisy!

Everything was wonderful. Good facilities, friendly staff and great place. Wonderful view overlooking Uddawatekele sanctuary and sacred tooth relic.

As the hotel is located on a hill top, and if you don't have any transport, it will be a bit troublesome for you to walk up to the hotel carrying a luggage. The slope from the bottom to the hotel is about 650m high.

It was ok

The atmosphere of the hotel is reminiscent of an old British hotel. The staff is very nice. A small thing very much appreciated: ironing a shirt could be done at costs that were competitive with those back home. Excellent location: you can walk to the main attractions. The supervisor at the restaurant is a very good employee of this hotel and does a fantastic job at making sure that all the employees are doing everything perfect! Great job sir! The value for money is great.

Everything was great, however, I think that the restaurant should be on the ground floor, and perhaps a coffee shop, the jewelry, etc. The lobby feels empty! Obviously that's not a big deal.

Appearance and facilities

There was no electricity for a few hours, so couldn't sleep. Room service was good, but twice they didn't pick up the phone.

Luxury hotel offering very well laid out rooms and great facilities. The breakfast and dinner buffets were outstanding with great choices of selection. The rooftop pool is a great place to relax and enjoy the views of Kandy Hills.

THE ABILITY TO GO OUT AND EXPLORE, EVERYTHING IS FAIRLY CLOSE, I LOVED THAT AND THAT IS WHY I CHOSE IT. THE DOWNFALL WAS THAT WALING DOWN TO GO TO EXPLORE, IT WAS SO HARD TO WALK UP TO THE HOTEL!!! IT'S GREAT BUT THE HEAT DID NOT MAKE IT BETTER. I WOULD HAVE LOVED TO HAVE SCOOTERS TO RENT AND NOT BE WORRIED ABOUT THE WALK GOING UP THE HILL.

A hotel with a difference-An experience not to be missed!! One of the loveliest hotels we’ve ever stayed in! Service was top class. The ambiance of the lobby was remarkable and eye-catching. Our arrival and departure was pleasant; was promptly attended by the concierge and the front desk. We would like to recognise Shehani (Resevation team) for making a real extra mile to offer our check in and check out requests -Thanks kindly! During our stay we patronised two restaurants Lemongrass and tamarind,which was truly an amazing experience. My husband is a vegetarian and he had the extensive selection of dishes available to him. The restaurant teams were outstanding, led by the gracious and charismatic Hillary Smith. The food was perfect - Hats off to the kitchen staffs and the service team for serving the mouth watering porridges ,delicate desserts, spicy curries, warm & crisp naan breads and almost melt-in-your-mouth - and these are just some highlights! Staff were professional, courteous,outgoing and friendly. Housekeeping and laundry services were on point. Spacious rooms, everything you expect in a five star hotel is available. We were treated like VIPs, got all sorts of complement treats, and enjoyed the best views in the Kandy city 10 out of 10 experience! “The grand Kandyan team”-we will return!

The location and the food were very good . The staffs were helpful and kind , they did whatever they could do for us to feel comfortable and happy, especially Miss Shehani the reservation officer.

The hotel and decoration of rooms were old

Centrally located and very close to all the attractions. Easy to find with good signage. Beautiful view from the room and hotel itself was very clean and well presented.

Some areas look like they need a bit of maintenance but otherwise we’ll maintained. For example the air conditioning unit was very loud but didn’t affect our stay.
