Our stay here was great for 4 adults. We had plenty of room and the 3 bathrooms gave everybody there own space. The central outdoor patio was excellent and provided a nice retreat from the mid-day sun. The kitchen had all the basics, but with so many great restaurants around we did not cook at home that much. There is laundry one block down the street (Lavandería de Rosi) that provided excellent service. Overall, the place was perfect for our needs and being on the first floor was cool especially at night--which was nice to get a good night sleep (some apartments higher up in Oaxaca remain hot throughout the night). Great neighbourhood with restaurants nearby. As well there is a Polideportivo complex nearby for nice walks or runs.

The property is in a perfect location, is extremely well maintained and meticulously clean. I stayed for 3 weeks and had no issues. Ricardo is very helpful and easy to contact.

My family of 5 spent 3 weeks in Oaxaca city at Ricardo's apartment. The location couldn't have been better. We walked everywhere and despite being in the center, the street was lovely and quiet. Great restaurants, tortilla stands, coffee shops, lavandaria, and a lovely park were all just a few blocks away at the most. We walked and explored all over the town with this as our home spot. The apartment was exactly as it appears in the pictures. Ricardo was very responsive and even kindly added a bed to one of the rooms to accommodate our family's size. While the upstairs was loud at times, that's to be expected in an apartment but I do recommend if traveling with kids, bring some sort of white noise machine. Overall, I hope we can return at some point and I can't recommend this spot enough!

Staying at the Casa del Barrio was a pleasant experience. It is in a beautiful neighborhood and easy walking distance to downtown. The owner, Ricardo, was super helpful from the moment we made the reservation until we left for the airport to go home after a week. We were in town for a destination wedding and it couldn’t have been a nicer lodging experience.

Ricardo was the perfect host. Communicating with him was a breeze. The apartment was very comfortable with nice personal touches. The real highlight of this property is the neighborhood that surrounds it. The barrio of Jalatlaco is incredible. So colorful and full of life. Also very close to everything that we wanted to visit and experience in Oaxaca. We walked everywhere. It was a truly memorable stay! We’ll done, Ricardo!

My bed was so comfortable and the private courtyard was ideal. All the amenities were perfect. I’d stay here again!

We rented the entire building (all three units) for a family vacation. My 81 year old parents stayed in the ground floor unit with my adult children, my brother's family stayed in the middle unit with his teenager children and my wife and I took the top floor unit. Ricardo, who is very responsive, leant us a larger table which we used for a few dinners and game playing at night. We spent a lot of time on the top floor terrace in the afternoons and evenings. The location and neighborhood couldn't be better.

Casa del Barrio was the perfect location for our group of four first time visitors to Oaxaca. Comfortable, convenient, and charming! The neighborhood was delightful! Everything we needed or wanted to visit was in easy walking distance. We loved our visit ❣

A clean, comfortable, quiet spot to call home while exploring the city of Oaxaca. About a 20 minute walk to the bus stations to go out to Monte Albán and nearby towns, about 15 minutes to the big mercados and zócalo

We truly enjoyed the property. Every bedroom had its own bathroom which provided much privacy. Each bedroom also had access to an outside patio. The kitchen was fully equipped and Ricardo responded quickly to our needs. The property is located in walking distance to the various murals, mercado, restaurants and neighborhood boutiques. Also, transportation is so so reasonable. I will be staying here again in the near future. Thank you Ricardo for maintaining your property in excellent condition. Clean, attractive, comfortable, conveniently located. Well-equipped kitchen. Very gracious host, whom we never actually saw (although his father was often around), but he promptly answered all of our questions and provided us with valuable information.

The property is located in the perfect location in one of the most beautiful neighborhoods in Oaxaca City. The neighborhood has places to eat within a few fee. Loved the Love Cafè for breakfast in the morning, and just around the corner. I needed to do laundry, and found Rosy's laundry services from her house within a few houses on the same street. All is exceptional. Would stay there again.

We enjoyed the stay at Oaxaca Centro. The gardens were lovely and the birds singing were fun to hear in the morning as well as the evening, especially the uh oh bird! We were very comfortable with the accommodations. The only problem we had was the hot water in the showers. My daughter and I both had cold showers the last day which definitely woke us up! A wonderful place to stay as you explore the beautiful city of Oaxaca.

Our stay here was great and we really appreciated the three bedrooms with their own bathrooms, the location and adorable street it's located on, and the outdoor patio (despite the mosquitos but that's what you get in rainy season). I reserved the 3 bedroom but ended up staying there by myself. So had more room than necessary! But it was such a lovely apartment. Very safe. The whole town is safe, but also you enter the building first thru a metal gate into the patio, and then the apartments are set back from there and also lock individually. So even as a woman traveling alone I felt extra secure. The space was happy and beautifully decorated. The Netflix worked great for nights when I was to tired to do anything else. The kitchen seemed to be just fine but I never cooked bc I was lazy and BC there are so many inexpensive and yummy places so close. There are 2 gorgeous coffee shops withinf a block or two that serve from breakfast until late night, a fancy hotel If you want a rooftop cocktail or meal. And many many other options. The colectivos and buses to go to the nearby towns leave from a spot only a 10 minute walk away. And the main tourist center is an easy 12-15 minute walk (if you go very slowly as I often did BC the neighborhoods are so beautiful!!) Ricardo connected me to a fabulous taxi driver, and was super fast to respond. The only thing to be aware of is that hot water for showers is a little tricky - it doesn’t last long, and it’s hard to get it not to be TOO hot when it’s hot. But the climate is so lovely that this was not something I really even tried to solve. Beds and sheets are all comfy and very nice quality. And I had plenty of hot water in the sink to wash some clothes when I wanted to.

Location to get to and from el Zocalo was great and communication was easy with the host. The host was great in giving us the flexibility of check in/out due to flight times. Coming back to oxaca in the future, I would recommend this location over and over again.

We picked this house to be close to Oaxaca Centro but didn’t know much about Jalatlaco. The home is on the most charming and colorful street surrounded by cafes, galleries, and nice shops. The house was spacious and comfortable. We enjoyed the courtyard and hammock.

This is a spacious and well-appointed ground floor apartment in the most desirable location in Oaxaca city. With three bedrooms and three full bathrooms it was a great place for us to stay with our two college-age children. Two very minor suggestions: the kitchen could be a bit better equipped -- it would be nice to have salt/pepper/sugar and at list one serving spoon. Also, the kitchen cupboards and bedroom closets were not as clean as the rest of the apartment. If we come back to Oaxaca, we would definitely consider renting from Ricardo again!

El departamento es muy cómodo. Esta muy bien ubicado, a poca distancia de el centro histórico. El barrio de Jalatlalco es muy tranquilo y pintoresco.

We enjoyed staying in this traditional neighborhood and walking to the historic downtown. Everything was close by easy to get to. Ricardo, our host, arranged for our airport transportation and wonderful guides. The house was clean and comfortable. Good value.
