The space with the futon bed were very good for family with kids.

The toilet and bath were in the same space which is not convenient for our family of 4. It would also be good if room cleaning service was daily.

The hotel is great but they should surely offer daily cleaning service … it’s difficult to be on a holiday and make beds and come back to a dirty room after being out the whole day

bed option are only twin, no double. FO desk is not 24 hrs but was not an issue and instructions for self-service is very straight-forward

I cannot recommend this hotel enough. The concierge—Gabby—spoke incredible English, was super friendly, and bent over backwards to help us with reservations, planning our day, and recommendations. The rest of the staff was great, but Gabby went above and beyond to make us feel like we were at home. The location is perfectly placed to access both ancient and modern Kyoto. Also placed next to a Michelin guide udon restaurant! The back patio was a wonderful view and very peaceful. The bathroom was the best we had seen in Japan. I also loved the washing-dryer combo machine. It was password locked and kept anyone from removing our clothes before we did.

The toilet remote didn’t always work. Its operation was intermittent and I could not figure out why. This was a minor issue for us and probably could have been solved if I told staff about it.

Near kabuki. Next to a main, charming thoroughfare full of restaurants and shops. Room was clean and overlooked a temple. Desk staff very friendly and helpful-> they helped us find a restaurant on a busy weekend night.

The staff was super friendly and polite! They explained everything very carefully and gave us a guide to explore the city. The room was very clean and very peaceful. Next time we visit Kyoto, we're absolutely staying here again!

We booked a deluxe twin room with landmark view but the size of room is quite small for deluxe and the view from 2nd floor is hardly considered landmark.

Amazing location in Gion neighborhood, steps away from famous Hanami -Koji street. Balconies overlook serene neighborhood shrine. So calm and peaceful, one can enjoy chirping of birds. Room has Bose sound system and a collection of CDs personally selected by the owner...great taste. A great collection of table top books on Kyoto, Japan, Geishas, Japanese a gardens, Haiku poems etc. Crockery, cutlery and toiletries are of top-notch quality. Loved the yukatas, there is an option of buying those. Staff is so helpful, courteous, flexible and friendly. Japanese style sitting area adds charm to the room. Very good quality wooden bathing tub in the bathroom with a window, overlooking green trees and the shrine... quaint!

I loved everything about this hotel and wish we had stayed longer. Location was ideal, surrounded by quintessential Gion culture and architecture, you walk through a picturesque neighborhood before coming back to your cozy home base. Impeccably decorated with a designer bathroom, small kitchenette, large closet, and office desk provide you all the comforts you would need. But the special bonus was the outside deck with a view of the neighborhood. Staff was very polite and our stay was incredibly comfortable. It really made our experience in Kyoto that much better.

Comfortable, but not luxurious accommodation, right at the heart of the Gion district. Good value for money however, given that Japan is so expensive. Great for culture vultures.

Check out too early, 11 am would be nicer! A few more pods of coffee and English breakfast tea would be fantastic, as most people enjoy several cups of coffee a day! Otherwise perfect small hotel!
