Lovely place to stay
Breakfast was very poor
Hot water with coffee sachets
Really bad hot food
3.5
Room was very basic but comfortable enough as I was only really looking for somewhere to sleep. TV was very small, if I was spending any time in the room.
Breakfast was poor, not much selection and the hot food which was there was becoming unpalatable based on the length of time being kept warm. Pastries, bread, yoghurt (continental) selection was extremely limited so the only option really was hot breakfast.

Very stylish hotel, brings you back in the 1920th where elegance was still present. Such a diference to the modern boaring uniform hotels.
I wish there would be more such hotels in the country.
Will definately come back.
Stilish ambience, nice bar, super comfitable beds.

The location is fantastic & cleanliness of our stay along with the food in the morning.
Didn't realise until late in the night we couldn't have the window open as there is a warehouse over the rd from main gate to hotel, we Hurd a forklift stacking pallets.

Location ideal for my needs. Accommodation very pleasant. Staff helpful. Breakfast enormous!
Fixed head shower over the bath.

Clean and comfortable room. Welcome from Jo was good, and generally quite happy with the hotel room and facilities. Good parking and easy check-in and out. Breakfast was good if you like a full English. No Earl Grey tea was a bit of a disappointment, but otherwise the room facilities were as expected.
Availability of restaurant tables was poor. Service in restaurant slow and generally the whole bar and restaurant area is a bit tired and could be cleaner. Attitude of staff variable. Rather inflexible if you wanted to do/have anything that wasn't standard. For example, Sunday lunch was fixed 2 or 3 course price - if you only want a main, you have to pay for 2 courses. So four guests at lunch, all only wanting a main, was expensive. Also, on arrival after long drive, no tables available on Saturday for lunch - we were offered a packet of crisps at the bar. No mention of the Pilots Mess where we finally got a welcoming sandwich and cup of tea.

Everything! A lovely hotel, wonderful Art Deco vibe. good food, excellent staff!
Nothing!

Great breakfast, Quirky place, Interesting museum on site
Rooms are a little dated but fine for the price.

Loved the whole nostalgia feel. While you sit in the bar sipping your gin and tonic you are transported back to a bygone era and expect to see WW2 flight crew heading off in the direction of their planes.
I loved all the Art Deco touches in the hotel , resturant and bar areas.
The resturant food was sadly very underwhelming, soggy pastry on the pie and most food items served with chips including the pie.

Breakfast and dinner good quality, reasonably priced. Staff efficient. Room and public areas spotless.
TV in room was about the size of a PC monitor. No comfortable chair in room.

The room was excellent and well heated .The facilities in the room were good. The evening meal for 13 people was excellent and a credit to the chef and kitchen staff. All food was served hot and at the same time. Breakfast menu was comprehensive and freshly cooked.
The superior rooms all on the second floor were not served with a lift which problematic for anyone with breathing difficulties. The outlook overlooking the busy road was not the best. The duvet was so heavy it disturbed our sleep. Lack of toiletries was disappointing.

Room was warm and comfortable. Breakfast was excellent.
Arrived at 8.50pm to be told restaurant had closed although advertised open for food until 9pm. Although the breakfast was excellent there was a 30 minute wait for it.

Lovely art deco style throughout the hotel. The bar and restaurant were particularly interesting. The room was spacious, spotlessly clean and comfortable .
The meals were very disappointing. Buffet style breakfasts were marred by tepid water to mash tea ; some of the cooked items had run out and trays were not replenished. There was no attention paid by staff.
On our first night, the evening meal was barely satisfactory. On the second night the food was awful. The braised steak was poorly cooked with no proper sauce, and the accompanying mashed potato looked like badly reconstituted, liquified instant mash. This was accompanied by a meagre bowl of cold undercooked vegetables . The waitress apologised for thus disgusting offering, but did nothing to make the dinner palatable. We have rarely had such poor food, a mockery of dining out.

the Aviator is a gem. A perfect Deco hotel with a real back story that gives a great sense of presence. who knew?
1.5
The hotel has an art-deco style and this works to its advantage. The buildings look nice and the lobby, restaurant and bar area create a nice visual look. The view from the restaurant is of the airfield which is typically used for car meets and driving experience days, which is quite novel and can provide some talking points and interest.
The accommodation itself is sub-par. The room decor doesn't fit with the more front-end parts of the hotel, it just comes across as super-basic. The TV on the wall is about 14" and hard to see. The desk lamp doesn't have an off-switch so if you want to keep the entryway light on overnight you have to remove the bulb from the desk lamp. The shower head is full of limescale and when showering in the stand-up bath there is no way to avoid having the shower curtain cling to you as there isn't enough space. The bed itself isn't uncomfortable though, but again I would only call it basic. The windows open directly onto the car-park.
More importantly though, is how thin the walls in the accommodation block are. Noisy other guests in adjacent rooms kept us up until around 2am, along with other slightly drunken guests that were laying in the corridors talking loudly about how they had lost their room keys. Would have thought the night porter would have noticed such things and interjected rather than expecting other guests to have their night disturbed.
We opted to have our evening meal at the nearby Horseshoe pub which was ok. It's only a 10 minute walk from the hotel through the industrial estate that the hotel is located on. There are footpaths but there is zero street lighting, so be sure to take a torch.
Breakfast in the restaurant was a miss. The room was clean enough save for a couple of flies buzzing round (which I wasn't expecting in October), but it completely lacked atmosphere as there was no background music. A simple layout of croissants, toast, cereals and juices form one half, and then a line of silver serving dishes create the hot food buffet. I use the term 'hot' loosely, as most of the food was only tepid apart from the beans. It could be that the burners under the serving dishes weren't on but this is pretty basic stuff, right? The sausages were quite nice, but everything else was lacking character and finesse.

Comfortable and large bedroom.
Young and enthusiastic staff. Always on hand.
Art deco styling and furniture somewhat unique.
Limited evening meal and breakfast menus.
Bedrooms could be better sound protected - room doors and corridors rather noisy.

The hotel itself is beautiful. Staying there is like being in an episode of Poirot. The decor it stunning, I love Art Deco and if you like planes you’re in for a treat. The little nods to aviation in the design are superb. It’s sophisticated and cool and in a lovely location. A real treat. Breakfast was as brilliant too.
Our room was close to a main road but it’s not very busy. He tap in the bathroom leaked a bit but other than that it was great!

Art Deco was beautifully done, of a high standard and spotlessly clean throughout. Breakfast was very good. The location on the Sywell Airdrome was novel once you went over to the restaurant/bar in the reception block. At the rear of the reception block was the airdrome and views across to the runways, plus access to the flight museum with some interesting features outside too even when its closed. All the staff we came across were wonderful, especially Reception/check in lady and breakfast room staff. Car parking was excellent with reasonable size spaces. Hotel is very well placed for M1/A34/M11/A1 stopovers.
Very disappointed with the room view, we had rather expected we were to be overlooking the airfield from our rooms, but in fact they all overlook either a main road or an industrial estate which was quite noisy in the morning (even though a Sunday). The rooms (their Superior top of range rooms), whilst nicely decorated with art deco trimmings, were quite sparse feeling with just a bed, dressing table and an office chair. The TV was about 19" and looked way too small by todays standards. Tea/coffee facilities were setup for one. The shower, very powerful but could not be selected to issue hot water, just tepid - may have been a complicated knob but we tried every which way for ages. No lift and quite a few stairs with luggage to our floor.
