Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: How was as advertised and a very short drive from Shlitterbahn. The kitchen was better stocked than expected. The management did a very nice and prompt job of resolving two minor issues. They were much better at issue resolution than most renters. The layout of the upstairs bed rooms worked well for kids - lots of beds but in separate rooms. A few other notes:1. A few of the rooms really are ready for a coat of paint.2. Like many places, many of the light fixtures had very low voltage bulbs. 3. Like many older houses, there are bumps in the floor in the doorways. It would not be a good house for someone using a walker or who had balance issues. Also, the stairs were steeper than most - no big deal for most people but it would be problematic for a few.

Home was perfect for our group! We had our two grown children and their families which Included our 4 grand sons! There was plenty of space and beds for everyone! The boys loved the bunk beds. Porches were perfect to enjoy the evenings, there were deer that came into the yard every evening. The boys loved it! Kitchen was well stocked, dining room had large table and we shared family meals every night! It was a great family trip, perfect home for what we needed.

Great location and spacious property. Furniture was run down and uncomfortable. Pillows were lumpy and sheets scratchy. It’s a super cute house though.

Nice home and great kitchen for a family gathering of 11 people. I e had a nice time. Close to tube rental. Very convenient.

Didn't have to get back in our cars until we left. Walking distance to the tubing outfit, walking distance to the river, and walking distance to the bar/restaurant. Really enjoyed our stay!

The couch bed upstairs is abysmal though... don't plan on using it. It's 150 years old so the house is a little quirky (some doors don't close all the way, etc) but if you go in understanding that it's wonderful.

I would suggest replacing living room furniture. Hard and low to ground. Someone had broken lazy boy and taken off the lever leaving a hole. Need better toilet paper. Otherwise great property.

No doors close or lock properly including the front door which has heat coming through it all day. Kids kept getting stuck inside the half bath. The back door knob kept falling off also. All of the doors and hardware are the originals from 1919 and do not work. The long metal dining table has a sharp corner that was duck-taped to hide the sharp edge sliced up several of us. The house is 100 years old, so I expected some issues. Many floor boards creak throughout the house as well. The refrigerator water is undrinkable and the ice smelled - needs filer replacement. There are only 2 TVs in the whole house. One in the living room where there is a couch that you can’t even sit on. It’s the sleeper sofa and can’t even sit comfortably on it. Recliner doesn’t work either. Upstairs is a futon that no one could possibly sleep on as we could barely sit on it in front of the only other TV in the house. The location is good but there may be a bar nearby because you hear cars start up and blare loud music every night between 11 and 2 am.

Working with a rental company was certainly not my favorite thing. I was asked to email my drivers license and credit card to the rental company in order to avoid having to go to the rental office. This made me very uncomfortable..
Then I found out that I would have to go by the office anyway to pick up parking passes.
The day after returning I got a call from the rental company saying that I did not return the parking passes to the office (I did). Fortunately they found the passes during the phone call. Not cool.

So to sum it up, the house was great, but the rental experience was not.

We did have to call maintenance a couple times but they fixed it within an hour each time. The beds down stairs were comfortable. The beds upstairs were not very comfy. Overall the stay was good and we had a great time.

The location was the best part of this house. With the private river access and one block walk to the tube rentals and a few blocks to downtown you are set up for everything you need. Met the owners of the Beaver Bend park and they were very nice and accommodating. All in all, great trip and great host.

This house definitely has a lot of charm. The location is great! As we pulled up there were deer roaming around on the streets. The people in the area were very friendly. Access to tubing was very very close (which was great). The house is definitely big enough for everyone to feel like they have space and are not bunched on top of each other. There were a few hiccups but the management took care of any issues immediately. I do still have a few recommendations. Obviously the house is older and it does have an older smell. Plug-ins or scentsy would probably be quite effective. The couches really need to be replaced. The big couch sinks in so bad, that it was very hard to get situated without leaning onto the person beside you. The king bed upstairs is terribly squeaky. You really can't move any part of your body without it making a lot of noise. We weren't sure how because we are very adamant about closing the doors but the flies still manage to come in so we did kill a lot of flies. A nice set of kitchen would be wonderful as we did cook our entire stay. If you require things such as the bbq pit to be cleaned or face a fine, please verify the previous guests cleaned it as well. We came in to a pit full of old charcoal etc but was not emptied. Which we did of course. I will say again how impressed I was with the management's communication. They were extremely helpful and quick to respond.
