The only surprises we encountered were of the pleasant variety. The home was very clean, the knives in the kitchen were sharp and the towels were of good quality. Things like this make you feel like you are staying at a home and not just another rental property. The effort put into this home helped make for a relaxing experience.

Interior of house exceeded expectations, very clean, well maintained and nice fixtures. Quant and friendly town. Quick and easy walk to river, park and restaurants.

This home worked well for us and our dogs. The entire property is enclosed with chain-link fencing, so we could let the dogs out anytime. The furnishings were lovely, and the kitchen with dishes, etc. was so helpful. It's a short walk down to the water, and we liked that we could walk to a few restaurants - Lenny's and Hunan Diner are only 2 blocks away. It was a quiet neighborhood and we all slept well. No complaints at all.

House was very clean. Great location to get around town via Golf carts!

Enjoyed our short stay very much. Lots of space to play games, watch tv and hang out. Beds were very comfortable and linens and towels were lush and appeared brand new. The kitchen was very well equipped for all types of cooks.

I was impressed with how "big" the home felt - my expectations were exceeded in the space and how very well decorated it was, with fresh paint and new linens/blankets/towels, new utensils and cookwares. If you're high maintenance and need everything perfect, a river beach may not be for you either way... but we found this to be the best place to bring our 5 and 2.5 year old and extended family for a "beach" vacation closer to home and bigger bang for our buck. It was also a convenient setup with the second larger living room and bathroom having their own "wing" separated by a door. My husband, kids and I slept there with plenty of room and they were never disturbed by us hanging out after their bedtime in the other half of the home. The kitchen was fully stocked; the house had all the amenities you could want. Quiet street. Kid-sized utensils. Town did not have an extensive amount of activities, but it felt like a beach town with gift shops, ice cream huts, boardwalk eateries, tiki bars (Dockside Tiki Bar is highly recommended especially for kids to play there). Weekday crowd was very quiet the week of June 21. In contrast, it was busy on Father's Day which was when there was also a Classic Car Show on their Town Hill. But it was not as busy as say Ocean City MD gets. We could understand the convenience of renting a golf cart, but not necessary. We would go straight down the Lincoln Ave to the natural rock beach if we just wanted to play for a short while... or we would load up a stroller and walk the couple blocks to the main sandy beach for hours of fun. The pull out sofa beds are typical and not the most comfortable; so we pulled the mattresses off the sofas nightly and slept with them on the floor instead and it was fine that way (even being pregnant!). Side note about the river beach - On one cooler day the current brought in some muckier water but it was still fun and swimmable, just had to rinse our bathing suits extra after. Overall the beach felt like a beach and our kids could play and jump around and wade in 10+ feet without needing a floatie or someone right next to them. Much less anxiety than an ocean beach with big waves (but there are still some waves!). Also there were public bathrooms at the main sandy beach which was convenient too. It was our first time at Colonial Beach and I would love to return.
