Beautiful lodge, went on an ice fishing trip with 6 friends, everyone had a comfortable bedroom, kitchen was stocked, and we all admired the beauty of the lodge when we were off the lake! Great accommodations, book it, you won’t regret it!

The pictures don’t do this property justice. The accommodations were excellent and the owners were very easy to work with. Had an awesome time with the family in the northwoods!

We often gather as a family, but this was a first for fishing in Wisc. Some family members live in the area and we have not seen in years so they visited for a few hours one day. It was great for our 2 1/2 yr old to catch first fish. Weather was great and lodge was perfect for our group. Have fished in the area 60 yrs ago, so was a homecoming and the fish caught were very healthy, no grubs.

Amandy's communication was like none other! Kept us up to date with things to do in the area, places to get wood and a boat as we got closer to our dates. She was very responsive with all my questions. Owners responded immediately when there were issues with the toilets. House was comfortable and fit our family of 20 easily. The lake was amazing! Would recommend and would stay again!

3 generations of family getting together for a weeks vacation. Rented 2 boats and did a lot of water sports. House was plenty big enough to handle all 20 of us. Would recommend this property for family get together.

This home is big and beautiful.. If you have older kids the lakefront is awesome. If you have younger children it gets a lot of the wind and waves on this side of Lac View Dessert lake, and there is no beach.. Just a rocky bottom. Though rocky it is a great place to fish. We were able to land a few small mouth bass and other small fish. The fire pit outside is nice but if the wind blows just right it blows into the house. Make sure to close all doors and windows. The home has a nice screened in porch for morning devotions and coffee and a place to escape the Wisconsin state bird the mosquito. The home has many amenities and a large enough kitchen to cook for a large group. The home is dark so if you like light, bring your own.. it was fine for us but hard to read at night The cleaning crew did a great job of providing us a clean place to come to but the wood beams and fans were very dusty and there were many cob webs. We were even met with two bats which we promptly took care of. No fault of anyone's.. it is the north woods. Two of the bathroom doors didn't lock so I hope they fix that for the next group. The beds were comfortable and they supplied swimming towels which was a nice convenience. The hosts were quick to respond with any questions or concerns we had. We are hosts as well ... we would highly recommend this place. Just wanted you to know the few things we encountered. We would definitely rent this again!

The property was nice for our group of 11 family members. The house is spacious and well built, but the appliances are showing some age. Renters do not control the thermostat so prepare accordingly - we stayed in early summer and it was cool in the house. We recommend you make sure to bring bug spray/bracelets, bath and shower soap, toilet paper, napkins and paper towels, paper plates, garbage bags, dish soap and dishwasher pods (must use pods because as the owner pointed out to us, the dispenser in the dishwasher doesn’t work). We enjoyed the lake and fires in the fire pit at night. The dock was very nice. We had a great boat rental from Rob, recommended by the owner. Rob also provided firewood and went out of his way to provide us excellent customer service.

We had 8 guys up for a weekend of snowmobiling and ice fishing. The place was awesome for some much needed recovery after we beat our bodies up on the trails. The water pressure was amazing and the hot water seemed endless, I'm pretty sure they have a tankless water heater. The driveway is long and could be difficult if you have a trailer. We had a 28' trailer behind a f250 (roughly 60') and did have a heck of a time turning it around near the house. We had a blast and plan to use this rental as our Northwoods guys trip destination for years to come

Our stay was wonderful! The pictures of the house do not do it justice. It is beautiful and the views even more so. We found the kitchen to be excellent for cooking, a dinner for 10, as well as a brunch. As we were there for a wedding we did not get as much time as we would have liked at this house. Would highly recommend staying here if you are headed to northern Wisconsin.

The property was clean and the location was peaceful. We rented a pontoon boat for the extremely large lake. We enjoyed watching the eagles on their nest from the property. The property was furnished with canoes, and kayaks. We made smores at the firepit. Amandy and Phil informed us of where to rent a boat and the best restaurants. The weather was good and our reunion was a huge success. Thank you Amandy & Phil for opening up your beautiful log home.

We had 12 adults and 8 kids of varying ages, converging from 4 states across the country. It was perfect for us - plenty of bedrooms and beds, all spread out enough to give privacy as needed, but also beautiful family/dining/kitchen and outside areas to gather together when we wanted. Everything was really clean, and the housekeeper let us in, showed us around and was super friendly. Getting a pontoon for the week was also easy, and we loved fishing and swimming off it. Anchored off the public beach across the lake (Lac Vieux Desert Campground) and we all spent the day there grilling and swimming. Saw and heard the bald eagles just beside the dock all week, and enjoyed the loon visit every evening. Great communication with hosts. Thanks!

Our family decided to recreate family vacations from the past by revisiting Lac Vieux Desert. Cast Iron Lodge was a perfect location for 14 people. Phil and Amandy were very responsive from booking questions through the visit. The house is beautiful and has many extra amenities too. The pier , outside fire pit and multiple decks and sun room really added to our enjoyment!They made a great referral for a boat rental and for a local chef/restaurant that was superb! Highly recommend this property and owners!

Property is beautiful...would have been wonderful to have been able to have a fire in the indoor fireplaces. We spent a day skiing in MI which was wonderful & a day on the lake fishing which was productive. The outdoor firepit provided for a great nighttime opportunity to recall the days events. The kitchen was set up very well & the large dining table was great for game playing after meals. Wish we could have stayed longer!

Beautiful Expansive Property on the lake. Unfortunately that's it. What should have been a warm Thanksgiving weekend with family turned into a nightmare almost immediately as we got there. Having driven 6 hours, we arrived at the snowed in property where the temperature was 58*F with no running water for 3 hours past check in. Immediately upon arrival we received a phone call from property owner who claimed I would have to pay him $250 if I tried to raise the temperature again past 67*F that he felt should be comfortable for us and our kids, including a 6 month old. The owner then kept on remotely resetting the temperature through a Nest thermostat until we contacted VRBO. Had it not been for the fact that it was very late, and we were 6 hours away with small kids and an infant, we would have left immediately. While there are certain comforts one might forego, heat should not be one of them, not when you're paying several thousand dollars for a weekend, and the temperatures are to drop to 10*F. Great Property. Horrible Experience. Would definitely not recommend.

The property is everything advertised and more. Beautiful property with all the features that made our getaway carefree. Had a secluded in the woods feel despite other close by homes while grocery pickups were just minutes away. Eagle's nest on the property was a treat as our family watched the eaglets take flight. Kids had a great time with lake activities along with the adults and plenty to do inside on the rainy cool days. To top it off, Phil and Amandy were wonderful hosts and were sincerely interested in our family enjoying their property. Definitely recommend! Thanks again Phil and Amandy for your hospitality!

The house was amazing. There was plenty of room for our blended family! The views were amazing and seeing bald Eagles 🦅 was breathtaking. The owners were quick to respond for any questions. I will be renting this property again! Robby from Hillside Resorts was phenomenal with his customer service and fishing maps! I can’t say enough positive things about this rental! Would highly recommend over and over again!

This cabin was super quirky but so so fun at the same time. The property owner was available for questions at all hours of the day. The lake was never busy which was a bonus.

We had a fantastic family vacation. The house and property were wonderful and the lake is amazing. Eagle nest on the property, fantastic water, lots of open space in the the house, fantastic log cabin.

This property was fantastic, and better than descried. It’s a beautiful log home on a great lake with log architecture throughout that brings you into the woods. We spent our time on the lake, jet skiing, swimming, tubing and fishing. Kids loved watching the eagles while having evening campfires as the sunset. Thank you Matt

A family of mergansers spent a fair amount of the week sunning on the dock, hummingbirds were frequently visitors to the feeders above the deck, and it was entertaining to hear the chatter from the bald eagle nest near the dock. Staying here is as relaxing as anyone could wish and the lakeside is suitable for swimming and boating/kayaking. We were a relatively small party of 6 but the scale of the house would easily accommodate a much larger group, e.g., an extended family for a reunion or other get-together, without feeling crowded. The house offers a variety of different gathering spaces (huge living room, patio, deck, screen porch, family/TV room, fire ring, dock chairs) that would work well for multi-generations who want to spread out. Truly a beautiful place to visit!

Beautiful cabin! Lots of space! House is fully stocked with all the supplies you need. The lake is beautiful! Our kids fished off the boat dock, went tubing and water skiing. Lots of sunset cruises. It was the perfect vacation! Matt is awesome to work with! Can’t wait to go back!

A beautiful log home on an amazing lake. You can tell by the detail and thought put into this home that it is not just another rental property. This is a special place to share with family and friends.

This property was fantastic, and exactly as advertised. We have a large group (12 of us!) and we have stayed at many VRBO properties over the years. This was the nicest by far. Matt was very helpful in recommending restaurants and nearby attractions and we LOVED our stay.

Matt’s home is simply amazing. The log architecture throughout brings you to the north woods in grand style. Pictures actually do not do the home justice. The home is very spacious. It says it sleeps 16, but it can sleep more easily. We were a party of 14 and were more than comfortable. Our entire party congregated in the ample kitchen and great room very comfortably for dinner, a roaring fire and conversation. The resident (20 yards away) eagles are just so cool. Matt was as gracious a host as you could want. There are multiple great restaurants within 20 min, including Hillside resort on the lake for a great Sunday broasted chicken dinner or Friday fish fry. Matt introduced me to Rob at Hillside who hooked us up with a great fishing boat. Thank you for a great vacation.

The home has plenty of room for a large group. At one time we had 9 adults and 6 children (ages 1 month - 10) and no one was feeling cramped. The bedrooms are very large and with only 2 on each floor there is spaciousness and privacy for all. There is an additional apartment over the garage which we didn't need but could have easily overflowed to that area. An open kitchen for cooking with all of the amenities you will need and plenty of room both inside and out for all to find seating to eat or just relax. Morning coffee was had on the large deck overlooking the lake. Much time was spent on the lake soaking up the sun, jet skiing, pontooning, swimming, tubing and fishing. We found a large sandbar north of the property where we could anchor with the pontoon. We saw 3 bald eagle nests, one of which what just to the east of the property, each with young ones that we witnessed being fed and practice their newfound flying skills. Mornings were spent listening to the loons calling as we sat on the deck. The owner Matt or his agent David were easily accessible either by phone or email. Thank you Matt for allowing us to use your home for our family vacation!!

One of the best experiences of my life! The home itself is a masterpiece of design on a beautiful lake with nothing around you but snow, trees and always groomed snow trails. 3 floors of non-adjoining bedrooms with multiple gathering spaces and a massive upper and lower deck in the rear. The main living room has an open floor plan with soaring, 25 ft ceilings and a massive chef's kitchen. Worth the trip to get away from the hustle and bustle of daily life and reset, relax and enjoy the beauty of nature in it's perfect form. HIGHLY recommend this magnificent property for your next vacation!

We had the most incredible week here! Our four families gathered together for a week of relaxation, boating, fishing and enjoying a much-needed break this summer. This home is truly something very special and unique. Beautifully decorated, comfortable, spacious and well-appointed - the owner had everything we could have possibly needed and then some. We split our time between relaxing on the beautiful decks, watching eagles soar from the pier, late nights by the firepit and plenty of time out on the water - while the kids also loved exploring the woods and playing in the awesome bunk bed room. We could not have asked for more in a vacation getaway and are so thankful to the owner for sharing his one-of-a-kind lake home with us. We would love to return one day!

The house is incredible! Beautiful views and very spacious. We had a magical holiday as a family up here and can't wait to go back. Snowmobile trails are easily accessible from the driveway as well as the lake. We also cross country skied on property as well as the nearby trails.
