Simple process but gets pricy due to the added management fees.

We stayed for 5 nights to get out of the Sacramento summer heat. We brought our two retrievers with us. All of us had a wonderful time. The proximity to the beach cannot be beat, nor can the quality. The house was perfect size for us and had every amenity we could have asked for! It even had an outdoor shower to rinse off the sand! We hope to stay here again in the future.

Linda and Cal are the perfect hosts and great communicators. Their home is thoughtfully stocked and impressively organized to help you, your family, and dogs feel at home. The house and yard are pleasant and comfortable, and the neighborhood and beach proximity are excellent. We enjoyed lots of walking and a number of the nearby coffee and eatery options; also wonderful New Leaf Market for fresh local groceries. An ideal unwind!

Great location one block from the beach. Well appointed and quiet neighbor hood. Close to boardwalk and shopping and dining. We live inland where it has been so hot and it was a relief to be cool and pleasant.

We loved staying at the Beach Lovers Retreat. My husband and I and our 4 kids stayed here for a quick surf getaway and it was perfect. The house is very well stocked and lots of really thoughtful touches. We will definitely stay here again!!

This is our 2nd stay here and we loved it again! We plan to rent this house every year. The kids love the fire pit for roasting hotdogs and s’mores! And the beach is so close. The beds are comfy and I love all of the decor. Thanks again Linda!

I truly cannot think of one thing that the owners haven't thought of in preparing this rental, from the completely outfitted kitchen to the comfortable beds to the private fenced rear patio and firepit, this place is perfectly executed. And the location is ideal and close to the beach and hiking trails. Looking forward to our next visit.

This house was very comfortable and well equipped with just about anything we needed. Inside and outdoors, it was a lovely home to stay in, and the owners communicated well. The beach was just a short walk down the street. We loved our stay.

We (2 adults and our German Shepherd) stayed for 4 nights. This house is just as advertised and more. Best equipped kitchen we've ever seen. There were kid and dog supplies galore. No worries if you forget something as it's probably already there. Our dog took every toy out of the basket to play with. Great location to walk the dog and easy to get to the beach and quick drive to groceries and restaurants. Would definitely stay again if we're headed to Santa Cruz area.

The house and location were perfect for our family visit - so many nice little touches made for a wonderful experience for everyone including our dog! Well stocked kitchen as well! These hosts have thought of everything! We’ll be back!

Just a quick trip to visit our grandson at UCSC - we were not there long enough to do justice to all that is available in Santa Cruz. The house's location was good, the parking was as promised and the house met our needs.

This is the second time I have stayed at this property. Absolutely an excellent place to relax. This time I didn't bring my pets, I just embraced the quiet and had a lot of "Me Time!" Location is super convienent! The place has everything your could ever need, including dog beds, toys and treats for our 4 legged family members! I already booked another week in June. Calendar is filling up, don't miss out! You won't regret it!

Very nice beach cottage. Well-apportioned, with everything we needed to cook meals, etc. Cozy, but easily accommodated my family of 4. Easy walk to beach and to East Cliff.

The beach lovers retreat was incredible! Clean, updated, fully stocked. There were toys for boys, toys for the dogs, everything we needed, sound of the ocean waves at night. The backyard was beautiful. The beach is half a walk from the house. Simply incredible. We will be back!

The home was beautifully decorated, very comfortable, and contained all the necessities for a fun and relaxing vacation, including dog beds, dog treats and toys. We especially loved the beach decor, so tastefully done! The weather was perfect, and we enjoyed sunset at the beach, which was only a five-minute walk. My husband, daughter and I stayed at this beach house for a week with our 3 year old Golden Retriever. What a great place. The kitchen was beautiful and we loved the décor. It was very spacious and comfortable. We did not need for anything as the house was fully stocked. There was a nice sized back yard for our pooch to run around too. Honestly, we didn't want to leave.

We have stayed at the Beach Lover's Retreat four different times, and the experience is always wonderful. The thoughtfulness of owners Linda & Cal always shows through in the comfort and amenities provided. From the beach towels to the beach chairs and umbrellas, the BBQ with plenty of backup propane, the comfortable furniture, wonderful selection of books, games, DVD's, bedding, and more everything is done extremely well. The beach is wonderfully close and there are tons of excellent places nearby for food. We really cannot recommend this property highly enough!

My daughter, my two teenage grandkids, and myself recently stayed at Beach Lover's Retreat. We are planning to return sometime. The house was beautiful, very clean, and comfortable. The two bathrooms were very clean. The kitchen had every appliance that we could wish for. We used the washer and dryer several times. The sofa bed is comfortable. The owners do everything possible to make the stay a memorable one. The beach was one block away and very accessible. The house contains games and toys for all ages and toys and treats for four-legged family members. All interesting places in the area to visit are within a short drive. several beaches are within walking distance. And, the beaches are clean! We did visit Kong's Market one block away for sandwiches and soda, and also Cole's BBQ several blocks away (but within walking distance). The kids thought the BBQ was their favorite food of the trip. The neighborhood was quiet with only light auto and walking traffic. Linda and Cal do a great job. They are also easy to correspond with before, during, and after the visit.

From the moment we arrived at Beach Lover's Retreat, we knew we were in for a real treat. Just taking a tour of the yard and home elicited so many 'wows' and 'look at this' from my whole family (meanwhile our dog's tail was wagging in delight as she found a basket of dog toys to enjoy). The decorations and special touches throughout the house are so well thought out, and the organization makes settling in just a breeze. We did not have much down time during our trip, but when we did, I truly enjoyed being in such a relaxing environment. We also loved the assortment of board games provided! The location of the property is great- beach is just up the street, and you are otherwise quite central to whatever activities you may plan around the Santa Cruz area. Finally, Cal and Linda really excel as owners. They are thoughtful, respectful, and genuinely want you to have the best stay ever. I booked the Beach Lover's Retreat 9 months in advance based on its great reviews. I am so glad we did and would now recommend it to anyone!!

My husband and I have rented many VRBO's before, but rarely have we seen the attention to detail of every home comfort as this property exudes! Cal and Linda's communication was stellar and frequent from the moment we booked and throughout our stay. The home has everything you need for the beach (chairs, towels, shovels, Frisbees), as well as anything you'd need for a stay at vacation home. A nice bottle of wine & biscotti were waiting on the table to welcome us. The house is located about a 3 minute walk from the beach and our lab could be off-leash much of the time. We shopped for groceries at Whole Foods (about 5 minutes away)...you can also find Macy's/Target/Kohl's, Sears, etc. nearby. Inside the house, the linens/furnishings and every detail was considered. Every time I turned around, I saw a new beach momento/special item for my eyes! Heaven! There was plenty of room for us all to have space to ourselves and to gather. Outside, the BBQ and firepit were ready for action...and it was great to have complete privacy from the adjoining homes (they are all single level). We had most meals at the outdoor table & chairs...very relaxing! And we watched many of the DVD's available in the family room. Having a washer/dryer gave us a chance to bring fewer items as well...which was great. Cal & Linda also took great care to make sure our lab was welcomed! Several pet beds, blankets, dog biscuits and bowls awaited her! I think I even saw a pet first aid kit! Being gluten free, I found so many good options for me! We ate at Café Limelight (gf panini), Laili (delicious with a beautiful outdoor patio), Walnut Ave Café (great b'fast) and Zameen (Mediterranean). Don't miss the gift shops Outside In and Wisteria. And Gayle's Bakery in Capitola is a must-visit! We also hiked twice at the Forest of the Nisene. BEAUTIFUL and only a 7-8 minute drive. Check out Beer Thirty, too...we brought pizza & you can pick from many beers on tap or in bottles, bring your dog & play ping pong or corn hole! On our last night, Lou Gramm was playing at the Boardwalk (free Friday night concerts)...that was super cool to hear old Foreigner songs! All in all, this is one fabulous rental. You'll want to move to Santa Cruz after being treated to such a nice property and weather! We do!

My humans have been coming here for a gazillion years in a row (six or seven at least I think). I understand that my furry predecessor really loved this place, too. This is personally my second year here and even though I have not been on Earth that long, I can't think of a better place to vacation as a pup! When I came in the front door, there was my very own stuffed camel (I call him "Camu") waiting for me! The house was also stocked with a comfy doggy bed, cute ceramic bowls, plenty of cookies bones, leashes, brushes and even poo bags! Remind me why I bothered to pack a suitcase?! My romps on the nearby dog friendly beach were filled with adventure -- tall waves and leaping dolphins! And I could run freely in the backyard and the house without worrying my humans that I might get loose -- nice fence and doggie gate to keep me safe! I slept really well, too, particularly at night when I could hear the ocean waves. My humans might have done a few fun things without me like visit the Boardwalk and hike the Redwoods and pick strawberries, but they also fired up the grill almost every night so I got to smell and taste some mighty fine chicken! Can't wait to return for our second week later this summer!

My Husband and I and our two dogs had the best week ever at the Beach Lovers Retreat. This house is perfect and everything you could possibly need is provided - even pet beds and bowls and toys. Everything was immaculate and very modern and the fenced yard is perfect for the furkids. A very quiet beach is just 1 block away! We will definitely be back!!!! The owners were very attentive and left us a bottle of wine and biscotti upon arrival and texted us to make sure everything was in order and to see if we needed anything. We absolutely LOVED this house and the location.
