This is a slice of paradise. The rooms are so well designed giving both privacy and a communal space. It is all kept very clean and tidy. The plunge pool is perfect for hot afternoons. WiFi was good too. Thalane is very remote and quiet. Everything closes by about 9pm.

The beach is not great. It might be just ok for paddling with kids but it's part of a mangrove coastline so it's muddy after a bit. If you want a proper beach then drive out or take a boat trip.

We felt like royalities. The staff were absolut amazing. The villa is big and comfy, and the pool is great and cool. Food is top notch. The sunset at the beach is breathtaking.

The staff at Villa Thalanena were absolutely superb. Very helpful, very friendly and always on hand to assist us with any queries. The villa is away from the main towns and very quiet but the facilities offer the hiring of mopeds and taxis if the guests fancy a trip to the neighbouring towns and beaches

The villa is very close to the beach but the beach is very flat and you need to walk in the sea for miles before being able to have the water deeper than knee high. This is obviously nothing to do with Villa Thalanena but it's good to bear in mind.

The room with the pool was AMAZING. The food was incredible and reasonably priced. We booked two excusrions through the hotel, and while pricier than we could have gotten in Aonang, they were both exceptional. The staff was careful in making sure we had a good experience (including providing amazing food!) with private guides. We were extremely impressed with the staff, it was clear they were invested in our experience. It's a quiet area, and we loved how peaceful everything was.

Because it's a very quiet, remote area, it was more expensive to get around. We found that it was more difficult to find a taxi. This was compensated by the staff who helped us get to the Elephant Sanctuary one day. Just know when you go here, you are not going to a particularly touristy area, which is both amazing, but also lacks some ease of getting around.
