Truly wonderful experience. Hotel was in a good location. Breakfast was an excellent spread and the team at hotel are very attentive. It was my wifes birthday and they made the day even more special for her with little extra touches (with no prompt from me!) Housekeeping also deserve a mention as room cleaned promptly and to an excellent standard. Highly recommended as they do go a few extra steps for the guests

The oldest 5 star hotel in Lisbon is beautifully maintained and updated without losing its old time charm and nostalgia. We loved the stained glass ceilings, the beautiful chandeliers and overstuffed couches and chairs. The best part was the location: right in the heart of the old town of Lisbon. Everything is close by…but a seven minute walk is almost always uphill! There is only one entrance to the hotel off a narrow alley opposite Starbucks and the train station. On the plaza side of the hotel there is a tiny little Gelato shop tucked in the corner. Lots of fun places to eat and people watch.

Oh my gosh! Service was phenomenal. I cannot say enough about the service. The hotel itself was comfortable and stylish. Although our room had an odd odor but I think that was related to the age of the building. This hotel is very centrally located, we were able to walk everywhere. Overall, a wonderful place to stay.

Who wrote these 5 Star reviews? This is up there with the worst hotels I've ever stayed at. In fact, I'd put the rooms on par with a motel 8. Checked in to hair all over the bathroom floor, chips taken out in multiple areas of the bathtub and luke warm water with terrible water pressure on the shower (after I fiddled with the many knobs and finally got the water to even come out of the shower head) . The closet barely slides open, the shelves are literally plywood. I requested a steamer and was brought something that looked like it was from the 1800s. The sconces in the hallway of our floor were off at 8:30 pm which I found strange. The bed truly feels like a box spring without a mattress. The turndown service is complete with a dinner napkin on the floor next to your bed. I came here for the last two days of my honeymoon and it really was a huge let down after staying at a true historic hotel 5 star hotel- Reids Palace in Madeira. If your looking for luxury this ain't it. If I were here more than two quick nights I would've forfeited my money for a better experience elsewhere. 12/10 would not recommend and am sorry I made the mistake of staying here. Ended up leaving at 10 pm the night we checked in and going elsewhere.

This is a grand hotel in the old style - I really liked it especially the magnificent sitting area with stain glass ceiling where at cocktail time a pianist plays on a grand piano. Also the panelled breakfast room on the second floor with a great view up the Avenida Liberdade. Breakfast spread was excellent. Bedroom was similarly styled - some might see it as a little old fashioned but I felt it was in keeping with overall style of the hotel. It was very clean and comfortable. But much as the grand style is a very appealing feature of this hotel, what really sets it apart is the standard of service - really excellent in every respect. Very friendly and efficient. It describes itself as a 5 star hotel and delivers 100%. If only there were more hotels like this! Highly, highly recommended.

This hotel is conveniently located . Easy to walk to the main tourist areas as well as varied dining options. The picturesque entrance is quite the welcome. Hallways and common areas are aptly decorated. Although the bathroom was small, the room was fine for our weekend stay. Included breakfasts had everything one could imagine. Very good. During our 3 days we were gifted 3 items. Day 1 we received complimentary Portuguese pastries, day 2 a reusable shopping bag and day 3 a couple of stylus for our Ipads. Would definitely make it my stop on our next visit.

First Review, Wow this hotel is absolutely beautiful and the staff was the most amazing part! Very professional and incredibly attentive to the smallest detail. They recognized it was my birthday upon checking in and later sent chocolates strawberries and champagne to our room. Top breakfast too with every part of the breakfast high quality and super delicious. Best Hotel we've stayed in. Thank You Hotel Avenida Palace for the great stay!

Loved this old time gem of a place. From the moment u step into the hotel u are transported back in time of elegance & beauty. Breakfast was amazing & plentiful & seeing staff in suits with bow ties adds to the ambiance. Would highly recommend this hotel & definitely will be back.
