Lovely B&B, beautifully appointed and perfectly located. The owners are really friendly, and the breakfast excellent. The bonus of off-site parking was ideal as parking in Ambleside is understandably difficult.
Highly recommended.

A wonderful bed & breakfast in the heart of Ambleside! We had a fantastic stay; the room was comfortable and a good size, with a lovely modern en-suite. Breakfast was absolutely delicious with lots of choice. Highly recommend, we would definitely stay again!

I thoroughly enjoyed it, the hosts were very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable of the area. Public transport was excellent.. I Would recommend the the guest house to anyone.

Good B&B would stay there again. Minor gripe on my single room with separate bathroom is the dressing gown was small for me, I am tall, the bed squeaked at the slightest moment and the room was too warm for me but I do like to be cool at night so that's a personal preference, as I say minor gripe that wouldn't stop me staying there again.

What a wonderful first stay we had! Lovely greeting and check in to our room which was beautiful and so clean. Breakfast was incredible! I ordered the avocado on toast 3 mornings in a row! Kevin and Tracey were fantastic, always on hand if needed. The area is beautiful and the street was very quiet when we were here. Great walks, even in the rain we had it didn’t spoil a thing. The car park was super handy as we drove, very safe and only a 3 minute walk away. We would most definitely return and recommend Melrose guest house to anyone wishing to visit the lakes.

Perfect location central to all amenities in Ambleside. The room was comfortable and well furnished with quality products. The bathroom was super new with a smart power shower - excellent ! Breakfast was superb with a range of choices of hot/ cold food , would highly recommend

Great location, couple of minutes walk from the restaurants. The breakfast was excellent, clearly using best quality produce. There's an EV charging point just around the corner. The guesthouse parking is about 5 mins walk away by the main carpark.

Fantastic stay! Very clean room, centrally located and great breakfast. Tracy and Kevin were helpful with maps and suggestions for hikes. I did not bring a car and the bus stop was 2 min walk from the guest house. I was able to get to everywhere I needed. Will definitely be back

We stayed for 7 nights B&B. Our accommodation was very clean, complete with absolutely no issues. Our hosts Kevin & Tracey are a lovely couple who, when required, between them seemed always available with very helpful words of guidance on any given aspect of holiday break.
A truly exceptional Guesthouse in the centre of a lovely village. We will certainly be revisiting Tracey & Kevin when we get back to the Lake district.

Absolutely nothing to say negatively about Melrose House. Our room was spacious, updated bathroom, quiet, comfy king-sized bed, and wonderful breakfast options. The location in the middle of town was quite convenient. Parking is a bit away from the guesthouse, but there are options to bring the car closer, if needed.

A weekend stay at the Melrose GH was a great short trip at a lovely place to stay. The welcome was friendly and answered my concerns over parking. The parking is about 250 metres down the road but is gate secured and convenient enough.
Single room very comfortable with a lovely bathroom across the landing.
Breakfast was tasty with a good range of options.
I was allowed to leave my car in the parking after checking out which was much appreciated. Thanks for a great weekend.

A very warm welcome, excellent location for walking in the Lake District. Lovely breakfast to set you up for the day. Then a very comfy bed at the end of the day.

After staying in many bed and breakfasts in Ambleside this is by far the best one. Nothing was ever any trouble and the knowledge of the local area was second to none. Free parking and a wonderful breakfast what more could you want. This is now my go to bed and breakfast in Ambleside. Thank you again for a lovely stay.

Perfect property. Great location in Ambleside so easy walk to restaurants and shops. Ambleside is a great location for hikes in the Lake District - loads of walks within a half hour drive. Jim and Monique are fabulous hosts - suggestions on what to do and parking / bus routes to get there. Breakfast was divine - fresh fruit, full English cooked to perfection. The ordering process is really good , so breakfast is also served really quickly when you arrive. Perfect guesthouse and will definitely go back!

We stayed in a very spacious double room with two chairs in the lovely bay window. The onsuite was small but adequate Very comfortable stay breakfast good choices with plenty to eat.

We had a lovely stay. Our hosts were welcoming and friendly. Impressed with the level of organisation sensitive Covid procedures,and local information. Our room was stylish,comfortable and clean, if a bit on the small side. A superb visit will be back
