The staff were friendly and polite and the room was well equipped with everything we needed to make for a pleasant stay. The location was superb for transport, shops and restaurants. We were well impressed with everything including the food.

They took my money for a double room and breakfast for two people, but I was just one person. They told me to write to Booking to resolve my situation, Booking wrote me to speak directly with the property. The result is that I paid for a service they didn't offer. Very dishonest! Both of them, Booking and the property.

location in the heart of Ambleside is perfect as a base while in the Lake District.

2nd stay here @the Ambleside inn - 1 year apart. very disappointed with the stay this week. it’s such a lovely pub in a great location but sadly let down by some aspects that now seem a feature. Check in was long and quite unfriendly - the bar food menu choices are limited and in honesty quite bland, especially given the produce on the doorstep! Some of the staff require some training when dealing with paying customers that expect a warm welcome and general politeness.

Breakfast, terrible coffee , overcooked bacon, breakfast only lukewarm .only 1 sliced of toast per person .It did say on the booking website sel service buffet but this was not the case

Beautiful building & beautifully decorated for Christmas and in the perfect location

Our room was slightly small and had a pointless round writing table right next to the dressing table taking up valuable space but everything else was perfect

The staff were fantastic, the hotel was spotless in a great location as well and an excellent breakfast. Dined in one evening and food was restaurant standard.

There was a big fan in the room and for good reason. It was unbearably hot even with the window open and fan on. Couldn't work out why as the radiator was off and there was no underfloor heating.

Could have done with some drawers in the bedroom, only shelves. Also needed a shelf in the bathroom for toiletries.

Nothing! We were a party of three females away for a birthday celebration night away! The family room was great and just what we needed for somewhere to sleep and change. All good.

Big revamp has vastly improved bar/restaurant area Rooms and communal areas smartened up to a slightly lesser degree

Cold restaurant caused by door being open and staff refusing to close it. Cold evening would have benefitted from the wood burning stove being turned on in bar area. Staff stacking up chairs whilst we were eating. Customers having sweets put on table ehilst still eating main courses.
