Beautiful views and gardens, wonderful breakfast in dining room overlooking the views. Excellent location, in the heart of Ella, walking distance to centre and yet feels secluded , quiet and peaceful in hotel.

The location is great, tranquil beside the river, and close to Kandy. The design is superb with the open air encouraging the breeze. But it is the staff who really make it excellent. It is the second time we have stsyed at the Citadel, and we cannot fault it. If you are visiting Kandy, this is the place to stay.

The hotel itself is a perfect getaway from the hustle of Kandy! It’s location is a little out of the city, but the trade off is complete tranquility! The staff are so kind and helpful, we really enjoyed our stay!

Beautiful well-maintained property. An absolute hidden gem with super friendly staff. Everything was fabulous including the restaurant. Just a few bugs here and there but with all that greenery, very natural. Highly recommended Kandy stop!

I stayed here with my fiance for 2 nights and it was amazing. This hotel is pretty luxury without the several hundred dollar price tag, and really convenient for so many reasons. Our flight arrived in the middle of the night and we went straight to this hotel, so we arrived at 6:30am when the normal check-in time is 2pm. They were booked solid so they couldnt check us in right away, but they were SO nice about it, even though its not their responsibility to allow us such an early check-in. They even let us have the complimentary breakfast that morning, which we werent entitled to. By the time we finished eating and spending some time in the beautiful lobby, some guests left and they were able to get us in a room by 8:30am. During our stay, we didnt spend much time in the hotel because we were out in the town or Dambulla/Sigirya area, but the time we did spend there was so nice. The rooms were always clean and the staff bent over backwards to make sure we were happy and comfortable. The pool is clean and beautiful and views of the river are really cool too. Would 1000% recommend this hotel. P.S. - they also had driver accommodations, which was very helpful for us

Cinnamon Citadel Kandy is a nice hotel just along the river outside of Kandy. Nice pool (not huge), food is good, service is friendly. Rooms are funky 1970s style. Overall we enjoyed our stay. Note: despite what the description says, this is not walking distance to town.

I have booked the hotel for my mom’s birthday and arranged a room plus breakfast for two days. Later I changed it as my sister was able to go as well. There were initial issues when they go as booking was for two people however the food and beverage manager, Mohan, stepped in and sort everything and my parents had the most fantastic time. Great food, location and wonderful staff. Highly recommend

The overall experience was excellent. Our only disappointment was the lack of Sri Lankan food in the la a carte menu. Other than that, a beautiful location, delightful service and a relaxing few days.

Needs updating. No lift in upgraded room wing. Poor water pressure.
