Excellent location and value for money

The Tavern room felt like something out of the 70’s. Very poor shower, room very dated. No breakfast in pub even thought comments on websites seem to show it is offered. ….. and most cafes offer scone and cake rather than breakfast fare. Parking is a real issue in Alnwick so beware.

Great hospitality and great food . Room small and dated but ensuite new.Tea & Coffee facilities. Fine for one night stay at fair price. Pub great- food excellent- Sunday roast unbeatable! Friendly host and staff.

It had a clean bed and towels that’s about the only good thing I could say, wallpaper pealing off you had to sit sideways on the toilet then your right arm rested over the sink. The shower door was difficult to open, anyone of a certain size probably wouldn’t be able to get through the door. Carpet not so clean I left me shoes on when walking on it. The room was very dated, bed only they didn’t do breakfast and it was a walk from the car park we were told to park in. We wouldn’t go back

We stayed here whilst at a wedding in Alnwick. The staff were lovely and helpful and we were able to check in after two. If in Alnwick we would use this hotel again.

Great check in by super friendly staff. The bed was fantastic and the stay overall was good.....however, we stayed in room 1 which according to the reviews was the best room. It had great views and it was comfy but if we were to stay again I feel they should invest in a door lock that didn't stick causing us to leave the door unlocked or find a member of staff to lock or unlock our door. Finally the shower was extremely poor, it had a shower head that's supposed to enhance the power but failed miserably. I feel a low cost investment would give the room a 5 star rating taking into account the age of the property.

Excellent centrally located property with busy Restuarant. Booking highly recommended. Food and service was excellent and a great choice on menu. Room comfortable and well equipped.

The staff were very friendly and welcoming. The room (and Tavern) was very clean and cozy. It was in the perfect location for shopping, restaurants, and attractions. Would absolutely stay again!

Really nice friendly staff - our bikes were locked up in their rear yard and they moved them inside the building when they closed around midnight! Exceptional service. We also ate there and food good. We had booked the room with no window as it was cheaper. It was hot at night but because no one else was around we left door open.

Rooms were a bit tired and needed much better cleaning. Bedding and towels were clean. One room of two had hand soap dispenser and shower toiletries. No servicing of rooms other than replacing water and SOME coffees, tea, and biscuits and got missing soap dispenser. Shabby toilet shower room never cleaned in 4 days. Towels never changed. No facility in shower to hold soap, shampoo, bodywash. At £90 per day per room, not great value. Pursued from the bar restaurant by female staff member on day 2 of 4 day stay for room payment, obviously in case you were to complain and withold any payment due to the inadequacies of servicing the room. Extremely disappointing, and would not recommend staying here longer than 1 day if you really had to! We did eat here one evening and had a lovely meal. But also note that no breakfast is included in the price of the room! Fortunately we managed to enjoy the surroundings of Alnwick anyway, no thanks to the Market Tavern accomodation!

Excellent staff, room and food

I checked in yesterday afternoon and was shown to a room with no window which was boiling hot. I asked if there was a room with a window available (simply due to the heat) and was shown to one. On arrival it was explained that I should not open the window as pigeons regularly enter the room and each time this happens it needs to be fumigated. I checked straight out! No apologies, no offer of a refund, nothing. I had to spend a large sum of money on another hotel room nearby. I contacted Hotels.com who spoke to the property and informed me that apparently I had said it was ok, which is simply untrue! (I showed them my booking receipt for the new hotel). Refund declined. Absolutely appalling service from both the hotel and Hotels.com. This place is disgusting and should not be open for business.

So handy for a visit to the playhouse and for one night stay. Good food

Stayed Here a Couple Of Times In Last 3 Months, Same Room (Room No6) We Know The Bathroom Had Been Recently Updated And Is Very Nice ,But Main Room Is In Need Of A Revamp. The Staff Are Excellent As Is The Food, Would Not Hesitate To Stay Here Again

Very dated rooms , damp smell going up a million steps to the room, shower had no pressure and could barely move in the cubicle even tho the bathroom wasnt to small itself! Bar smelt like a mop bucket. Heard the steak was good but couldn't get a table so had a steak in the more modern adam and eve.

Stayed for one night. Was a little bit snug and the bed wasn't the biggest. Had everything we needed. Towels, Coffee making etc Bed a tad small. Location excellent. Would stay again if in the area. Ate in the restaurant and the food was ok although neither my wife or i thought much of the home made chips which seemed undercooked and very greasy - Perhaps thats just the way they are made in this part of the country. Staff were very friendly
