Very friendly and family run hotel

We have just returned from 5 days at the Balmoral Hotel in Torquay and we had a wonderful time The hotel was spotless, our room was described as cosy but there was plenty of room and the beds were very comfortable. The hotels garden was so pretty with plenty of recliners and tables and chairs. All the staff were so friendly and helpful and the food was delicious We are hoping to return for another holiday in the near future. We would highly recommend the Balmoral

Dinner and breakfast was excellent. The bed & bathroom were good. The room only had a very small window and would benefit from modernisation.

Lovely hotel and staff was our third stay here ! However I didn’t much like my room it was a good size but very dated no view except into someone’s bedroom and on the roof We were only there a couple of nights so it wasn’t so bad but I would never book that room it was number 18

Lovely property and a lovely quiet setting very close to meadfoot beach and a 20 min walk to Torquay...lots of hills though. Was given room 20 and very creaky floorboards. Also window opens which must be on the back of the kitchens so very often got a fishy Smell in our room. Also bed wasnt the best comfort wise could feel the springs at times and two singles put together. Full size kettle and tea and coffee provided with one pack of biscuits, and full size mugs which was nice, although one mug did have a chip on it. Didn't eat dinner there as vegetarian choice was limited chilli one night..I don't do hot spicy food. Breakfast was lovely and cooked to order and they do offer a vegetarian option of a cooked breakfast. The pancakes are lovely. Maybe the staff could be a little friendlier at times. A coffee machine would be great. Lovely smoothies too and certainly worth the money for the breakfast provided. Had a drink in the bar one evening paid 7.50 for an eighteen gin and tonic which I thought was a reasonable price. Lovely lawn with tables and chairs and sunloungers too. Maybe some games could be placed in the lounge/packs of cards. Met some lovely people there. Do try the cafe at meadfoot beach also. Thank you for a lovely relaxing weekend.

It was a very friendly, family run and peaceful hotel, close to the beach. Lovely to come back to in the evenings after visiting the Princess Theatre for a show. Breakfast great, efficient service. Room could have done with updating but it was a standard and had everything you needed. That was all that was available at the time but premium rooms are offered.

A really good well run family hotel great staff who are happy with their job, very clean and well decorated throughout loverly garden with lots of quality furniture, excellent breakfast menu we only had dinner once on our last night it was fantastic food and I wish we had used it more. The owners run excellent hotel with real values and keep a very happy environment for both staff and guests keep it up you are doing a great job 😍

A hotel where you could relax and feel at home. A most enjoyable holiday. Felt like one of the family. Enjoyed the company of other guests.

Absolutely loved this hotel, staff were amazing especially the 2 girls doing the bar and waitressing, made us feel so welcome, gorgeous garden to sit and have a drink, will definitely recommend and stay again.

Stayed for 2 nights at the end of a mini tour of the UK. The hotel is very clean, excellent and welcoming staff and breakfast was lovely. Lovely Gardens, plenty of outdoor tables and chairs. Very good location, close to a beach but a short walk to Torquay harbour over a hill. Taxi was only £5 so not a major issue. Would stay again without question

Excellent hotel in a quiet area. Staff very friendly, very good breakfast with plenty of choices. Good on site parking. Large private garden area, with plenty of seating. Hotel bar with good range of drinks available. Some evening noise, with doors banging and other rooms bathroom extraction fans left running all night. This due to inconsiderate guests and not necessarily hotels fault. Could only book small “cosy” room, as described, but would try to book large room if returning.

Nice hotel, good breakfast, however the 'cosy' double bedroom was very small with a tiny shower room

After a small problem with our room which was quickly sorted we had a lovely time the only problem was that the shower /bathroom was too small I would in future book a premium room the breakfast and dinner were very good as were the staff

Staff were friendly and welcoming, however they were not enforcing the compulsory wearing of masks with guests who were not doing so. We were also disappointed with the food, it wasn't bad but it wasn't great either given the reviews we read prior to booking. The rooms were clean, lots of tea/coffee/milk etc but oh my life the beds were not comfy, mattresses were way too hard for us. This has the potential to be a great little hotel, but some of the basics need improving.
