Delightful secluded house in beautiful setting. Paul the owner could not have been more helpful: outstanding attention to detail without being intrusive. And the breakfast was superb.

This is an excellent location for hikers and cyclists or anyone who just wants to have a ramble. Breakfasts are first class.

Natural site, room is in high standard. The host is friendly and his cooking for breakfast is appreciated. Though it takes 15 minutes walk from bus stop, the way around is full of natural feeling. You may breathe a natural smell or listen to sheep voice. It's an excellent experience and will highly recommend my friends to visit and myself is highly and likely to revisit again.

We have just come back from a Wonderfull two night break at Foxghyll country hotel. paul was a great host, Nothing was to much trouble for him. the location is perfect to access the lakes weather you fancy low walks or high ones . perfect spot for Amleside and Grasmere. you can leave the car at the hotel and walk to both destinations. the accommodation was warm and roomy, the hotel has a old english feel. views are superb from our room and breakfast was spot on, what was quirky was a small puzzle on every table at breakfast, it was entertaining whilst waiting for you home made breakfast (and you don't need to finish it before leaving the table LOL). There was a wonderful choice of cereals and, fresh fruit every morning. Its a friendly welcoming place especially being run by Paul and his family and there history. Hope to visit again. thank you Paul for a warm welcome.

A fantastic B&B set in the former home of Thomas De Quincey. The owners were very accommodating and the location was close enough to Ambleside to walk into town but remote enough to feel like you're cut off from civilisation.

Location is very good. 10 minutes walk to the beach and town center. Room is quiet and clean. Breakfast is ok. There is a small box of chocolate as gift. We book a small double room which means the bed is a bit small for two people. May recommend to friends.

the house is so full of characture,from the wonderful stain glass windows, to the four poster bed in our room,and the view from our room was so in keeping with the house,

Our room was spotless, warm and welcoming. The service was fantastic, they had good amenities and a good location.

We got a very warm welcome and shown to our spacious room. In between Ambleside and Grasmere, we visited both. We could walk out onto Loughrigg Fell from the back garden so had a good walk without having to use the car. There are many restaurants close by and the cinema at Ambleside is a must.

We had a very comfortable stay in this grand old home, beautifully furnished with a lovely garden where deer wander through. Breakfast was good and plentiful and our host Paul was friendly and helpful. It was an easy walk into Ambleside for restaurants, cinema, etc.
