The house was everything and then some. The spaciousness and close proximity downtown made this a must have. If we come back next year for the marathon we are definitely staying here!

We loved out stay at this house. Great location to the Main Street. Enough space for a large group. Great outdoor area.

This house is the best house we have stayed in Lake Placid. We had three families of four and there was more than enough room for everyone. The location is walking distance to town and 20 minutes to White Face. Excellent VRBO!

Perfect house for long weekend ski trip with friends and family.

I can't recommend the Acorn Cottage enough! It is a beautiful house and just a short walk into town. The owners were very accommodating as well. We will be back!

I traveled with a large group of friends for a winter getaway weekend. The VRBO listing for this house does not do it justice. The was plenty of room for our group of 12: comfortable sleeping accommodations, plenty of bathrooms, lots of different sitting rooms for relaxation and socializing. The house would be also be great if traveling with a family. We had a yoga session in the house and there was plenty of space for everyone to practice comfortably. The hot tub was wonderful, especially after exploring Lake Placid in the winter. There’s room for 3 cars in the driveway and any additional cars are able to park in the public overnight parking in town. We were especially excited that town was a short walking distance. Chris was very easy to work with and gave lots of information and recommendations. He is very easily reachable to answer any questions. The instructions for the house were very clear and easy to follow. If I travel back to Lake Placid in the future, I hope to have the opportunity to stay again! Highly recommend!

Fun time

Six of us enjoyed a long weekend in Lake Placid. The house was clean, comfy and full of everything we needed. The location was great; we could walk downtown. Three parking spaces was an excellent addition to the property. We hit the fall foliage just perfectly and had a blast at the various Olympic sites. The owner was great, very communicative. We all would highly recommend this property!

This house was everything we could have asked for and more! The Acorn Cottage accommodated a girls trip of 12! It was the perfect size, spacious and has an amazing basement, with a pub! This location is a complete prime spot. Walking distance from downtown, once we got there everything was walking distance. There is a food store down the street as well. The owner Chris was so helpful, gave great recommendations and was great to work with. If we ever come back to Lake Placid, we would absolutely stay here again!

Wonderful host! Very transparent about property, and great location. Able to walk to shops in town, and did not drive far for hiking and other attractions.

Was a great property and location for a family get together. Everyone loved the residence which had ample rooms for our family of 9 adults and 2 children. Convenient and within walking distance of town. Would definitely rent Acorn Cottage again.

Can’t say enough about this property! So many places to visit and enjoy conversations! We were a party of 14, ages 7-79, who thoroughly enjoyed everything from the well-equipped kitchen, enormous dining table, porch w adorable lights, fire pit w real Adirondack chairs another porch w hot tub, and the kids were hanging out in the awesomely cool basemen the whole time! We will be returning for more terrific memories!

This place has it all. A large kitchen with all needed amenities, comfortable entertainment rooms throughout, private bedrooms with plenty of space, ample parking, and an easy walk to Main street. The spaces are definitely larger than the photos appear. We were impressed and very happy with our stay.

We stayed at Hillcrest over the New Year's holiday. Its a great location for skiing at Whiteface and walkable to downtown Lake Placid. The house was perfect for a large group and is big enough so that there is plenty of space for everyone. The house has everything you need and the owner was great at communicating with us and answering any questions we had. We would definitely stay here again and would recommend for anyone wanting to stay in Lake Placid.

we had a wonderful stay with our children, their spouses and our granddaughter. the house was really well appointed and had everything we would have wanted. the location is fantastic. could not have asked for anything more!

Our family stayed at Acorn Cottage for a long weekend and celebrated Thanksgiving! The owner was always available and checked in to make sure we had everything we needed. The house was clean, plenty of space for all of us and had everything you would need. The kids enjoyed the bunk rooms and liked having their own space. The living room and dinning area was large and comfortable. The location is perfect as it is within walking distance to the park and Main Street. I would highly recommend this property and we can’t wait to rent Acorn Cottage again on our next trip to Lake Placid.

Very far below expectations. We wanted to leave immediately but do the cost we felt trapped. The house was clearly not as pictured on the web site. The interior really needed to be painted everywhere. When opening the front door the house vas very musty and felt like no one had been there in a long time.There were visible stains on every piece of upholstered furniture. No one wanted to sit down. The upstairs bath had rust around the faucets. The tub was full of mold and mildew and stained. There was no bar soap in the bathrooms and some of the pump soaps did not work. There was a large spider in the basement shower. There were bugs on my daughter’s bed resembling fleas. The couch in the den was covered in pet hair and disgusting. When the towels were used they smelled stale and like they hadn’t been washed in months. The towels were old, mismatched and rough. The sheets on the beds were all wrinkled and loose. This morning when I removed the pillowcase on my pillow was so stained and dirty I wanted to vomit. There were lights missing in the very dark living room sconces. One 3 light sconce had 2 bulbs missing. There was a light out in the dining room light fixture which was also covered with cobwebs. The molding around the kitchen sink was not in good repair. The carpet on the stairs was old and dirty. The chairs in the dining room didn’t match. The hardwood floors were very warn out throughout the main floor and needed to be refinished. We had a very, very upsetting stay. We couldn’t wait to leave.

I rented Acorn Cottage for a surprise 75th birthday party for my mother. We had 12 family members gathering and the entire 4 day stay was everything we had hoped for, and more! Communication with Christopher was easy and he was as friendly and welcoming as could be! The process couldn’t have been easier! The home was perfect for our family. Definitely something for everyone! The location was wonderful and an easy walk right into town. Even the neighbors were friendly and we found ourselves talking with them often. I would highly recommend Acorn Cottage for your gathering!!

This property is in a perfect location for local stays in and around Lake Placid - walkable to Main St. Chris was a great communicator and made it super easy to check in. Listing is even better than described and in pictures! Highly recommend this place and will hopefully be lucky enough to stay again!

We had a wonderful long weekend at Acorn Cottage. The house itself was perfect for our group. There was plenty of space to congregate, comfortable beds, the outdoor space was enjoyed in the early evening, the kitchen made making at-home meals a total breeze and we all enjoyed the downstairs bar! Chris is an attentive host who was incredibly knowledgeable about the area in addition to making himself available when we had questions. I would highly recommend staying at Acorn Cottage, it’s perfect for a large group or family reunion while being in close proximity to downtown.

Really great place to stay while visiting lake placid

The layout nicely accommodates multiple families! Our teenagers loved the bunk rooms on the lower level. The property is very close to Main Street so we never had to worry about driving and finding parking.

Christopher was a great host. We were able to check in early which was great! House absolutely has everything you need except for clothes!!! We absolutely would recommend Christopher’s place to anyone traveling to Lake Placid!
