We weren’t informed before arrival that there was on-going maintenance in the reception area. A temporary reception was located in the building next door & if it wasn’t for a note on the entrance door then we wouldn’t have known. Booked a ‘comfortable double room’ & it clearly stated 1x double bed; I got 2x single beds (see photos for more). I wasn’t impressed with the bathroom door, it was translucent, anybody the other side of the door could clearly see in. There was no privacy- no lock on the door either. The hotels positioning also meant that the curtains/voile needed to be closed unless you wanted the public to see in to your room! The ‘free’ facilities for hot water (tea or coffee) should be out on display & the added ‘tuck’ snacks should be in a different location (cupboard) with a clear message to say that these are additional & further payments will need to be made on check-out. The prices were extortionate for the snacks too! £2.50 for a can of pop!!!!!! If there are 2 people staying, then the room should allocate for that many people. We only received 1 key card. There was 1x face cloth, 1x hand towel & it was only through searching in the cupboard that there was an extra body towel or there would have only been 1 of those too. Service for breakfast on the 5th floor was okay.

Stay was lovely however the TV was shocking remote didn’t work and we got a second remote and that didn’t work either and could only get 3 random channels

I really rate abode and they are a brand I will go to when available. Not a terrible stay but the breakfast service was terrible. Loads of staff but zero awareness of their environment. The body language of others was confirming we were not the only ones. Shame really as the hotel was nice.

Good location great breakfast(prepaid) staff very pleasant. Room was good and clean except for a couple of large stains on the carpet which could have been cleaned. Nevertheless it was good value for money and would go again

Unfortunately the breakfast service let it down, had to wait around 30 minutes over all and the cocktails were below standard.

I stayed just for 1 night I checked in with minimum fuss the staff are friendly and polite good location and great views from the 5th floor The bed was super comfortable

Nice & clean, bed was a bit soft for my liking But each to their own. Well situated for Chester , big car parking spaces. Excellent breakfast as well.

Really great stay and loved the proximity to the race course and town in general. Didn’t have breakfast but service from reception was good.

Overall my stay was very good. The staff were excellent and responded in an excellent manner to an issue with the room Tv. Excellent location next to the racecourse. Would definitely stay again

Absolutely fantastic, lovely warm and welcoming. Staff both at the reception desk and in the dining room, were friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast was delicious, waiter service, which meant the food was freshly cooked to order, with a superb menu which gave lots of options. The best hotel we’ve ever stayed in, we will definitely be back. It was a much needed, break and certainly met our needs. Thank you

Loved it here, room was so nice, we did pay for an upgrade to a super king and it was worth it. Very clean. We went to the restaurant and had a lovely meal with a view. Breakfast was very good and plenty to choose from, the staff were very helpful and friendly. We would stay here again.

This is the best hotel we have stayed in for some time. We were visiting Chester for the races so wanted somewhere near. We were not disappointed as it was less than 10 minutes walk to the race course gates, in fact our room overlooked a small part of the racecourse. We were able to check in slightly early and our room was great. Very light, spacious and clean. The bed was massive. It was super comfy and the air conditioning worked well. We had breakfast included and again what a lovely experience. We had a table by the window overlooking the racecourse. We were served at the table rather than it being the usual free for all buffet and there was a good choice. Would highly recommend this hotel and will definitely stay again next time we visit Chester. The only slight niggle was when we arrived it was quite tricky finding the entrance to the car park as it wasn’t very well sign posted but it was a small thing and we soon forgot about it once we got in to the hotel.

The icing on the top was the incredible staff, I hope they are very much appreciated. Friendly, helpful and approachable. Without them it would be just another nice hotel 👍👍👌👌

We had a lovely first anniversary stay! The staff went above and beyond to make sure we had the best celebration! Thank you team abode for making it memorable for us.

There was clearly a problem with staffing when we arrived for our 1 nights stay with breakfast. Reception staff was excellent. However, breakfast was chaos. We were a party of 6 staying one night B&B for ladies day at the races. Breakfast was booked for 9.45am however, nobody came to our table for at least 20min. We had to ask for extra place settings as it was set for 4. We were served croissants and toast before any order was taken for tea and coffee. Our breakfast order arrived at 10.45am and wasn’t hot. We were due to check out at 11am but hadn’t finished eating until gone 11. Other tables were complaining and the staff were looking worried and visibly shaking! I can only assume something had gone terribly wrong and that this must have been a one off experience. We do plan to stay there again as I am confident this is not the norm.

The room was incredible. The view was everything. But honestly the staff was the highlight. They went above and beyond. Best service I’ve had at any hotel. So much so I went back to leave thank yous. The bed was amazing. The decor was great. Very clean. No complaints. Will 100% return.

Great one night stay for business lovely hotel in heart of Chester

I needed a centrally located hotel with parking. This was perfect for me. I was impressed with the room and the facilities. Clean, tidy and comfortable. Staff were great too.

My overnight stay was very comfortable. The room and cleanliness was as good as any hotel i have stayed in. The let down was the dining room which was void of people The Menu cards old and grubby and service by inexperienced staff. A magnificent view of the Racecourse wasted.

We have stayed at the Abode Chester and have never been disappointed. It is conveniently located for the city centre and the staff friendly and efficient. We will certainly stay again.

Arrived early at the hotel and a room was immediately available. The room was a decent size with a good view. Excellent breakfast. Would I stay again- yes.

Really smart hotel with the great added benefit of parking and a small gym. Gym was mostly cardio machines, 1 bench and dumbbells. Bed comfy and everywhere was clean and tidy. Badly placed full length mirror, but other than that 10 out 10 and we will be back!

First time staying here. The staff were excellent! Unfortunately we had a really awful meal at Havana in Chester when we got back to hotel we were hungry as not really eaten. They don’t do food room service but they sent some sweet potato fries up for us and they did not even charge a room service bill. We will be back.

Racecourse view. Pity no armchair

We’ve stayed here lots of times and in different room types . Love the place . The only thing I would change is the size of the tv’s . They are small especially when you stay in the bigger rooms .
