This hotel is at a great location. Easy walk to downtown and Fishermen’s Wharf. Lots of restaurants and shops nearby.

Perfect location. So close to many dining places, trader joes and simply perfect. Will be staying at this hotel in the near future. The breakfast is simple so don't expect a continental breakfast :)

A quiet place within walking distance of everything. The staff was awesome and very helpful. The room was large, clean and quiet. I would definitely stay there again.

Overall pretty good, but no AC so had to wait until after sunset to start trying to get room cooled down.

I got my room last minute for Labor Day weekend (don’t do what I did) so it was a little pricey at $384/night. Although it was pricey, it was the cheapest one in the area. The staff and check in admins were very helpful and nice. The room comes with one onsite parking. There’s plenty of safer street parking for additional vehicles. The rooms were a little outdated but very clean.my room included two bedroom queen with a microwave, min fridge, ceiling fan, and TV. The AC did not work. The bathroom was well stocked with clean towels, shampoo, and other small toiletries. The Colton Inn is the best bang for your buck. They also serve free breakfast for those earlier risers.

very nice experience. We were greeted warmly by the reception desk lady, who was also very helpful with our questions. The room was spacious and the bed was very cozy and comfortable. The free breakfast was excellent! Overall, my daughter and I were quite happy with our stay.

Farmers market was fun

The hotel is very clean and convenient location but was disappointed that there was no pool or jacuzzi. The breakfast was OK, not what I expected for the price we paid.

We had a wonderful experience at the Colton Inn for our first time staying in Monterey! Communication with the property was excellent, as our flight was delayed and we arrived much later than anticipated. Our room on the second floor was wonderful, clean, and quiet. You can't beat the location - a quick walk to the main street area with tons of restaurants. Parking was a little tight at the property, but there was always a spot and it was nice knowing on-street parking was also an option. After looking at many accommodation options, I'm so glad we went with Colton Inn!

This is a surprisingly nice older hotel that has been very well kept up. Our room was very quiet and comfortable, even had a fireplace! The complimentary breakfast was more than expected. The hotel staff members were helpful, friendly and efficient. They obviously have a lot of repeat international customers. The location is a lot closer than expected to what we wanted to see. Our stay was great!

This place surprised me. Super friendly checkin staff late at night. Bed was super comfy - cloud-like. Nice fireplace for those cooler days, and a patio overlooking a beautiful wooded creek.

Stayed 2 nights in July in a king, first floor room. Room was clean and spacious. Bed was comfortable. The couch had a major sag in the middle and was almost unusable. The bathroom was large and the tub and shower were clean and operating well with good water flow and hot water supply. The continental breakfast was marginal. Check in was very slow, with a slow-moving lineup. It really shouldn’t take that long since everyone has probably provided all the relevant info other than vehicle online. Location was very good, with a reasonable walk to Fisherman’s Wharf. Other than check in, my only significant complaint was the noise level from the room above. It seemed we could hear every footstep above us. There seemed to be a family with at least two active children who were running around. The noise disturbed both me and my wife. Fortunately, the children did not settle too late, but that was purely luck of the draw. If you stay here my advice is to request a room on the upper floor. Overall, I would rate this hotel 7 out of 10, downgraded mainly because of the room noise.

Nice clean basic hotel

Stayed for one night. It is motel, so you get what you expect. Old room. Bathroom and shower is especially bad, but everything was clean and location is in walking distance to pier.

Everything great

Perfect location! It was just a short walk to everything we needed, including dining, Trader Joe’s, and the trolley that took us to the aquarium, beach and Cannery Row. Monterey was beautiful and we loved our comfy stay.

Colton Inn was a positive surprise. It was good condition, clean and employees very positive and helpful. One issue discussed with staff the newly installed bathroom vent fans come any time the door is moved and turning off the fan manually only works for a couple minutes because the fan comes on automatically.

The hotel locates in a residential area. It is very quiet and interesting to take a walk around. Only one thing needs to pay attention, which parking lot is not enough, first arrive first service, however you can park in the street nearby.

The in was good/ fine but I noticed the front desk clerk wasn’t in tune to her customers, I heard her tell a young man, “it is what it is”, I didn’t think that was helpful for a young man asking a question, needing help!

We were looking for a comfortable clean and safe place to stay in Monterey that we could walk to most everything and not spend over $200 a night. This was perfect! clean, comfortable bed, decent pillows, good location, safe and most everything walking distance (we walked to fishermans warf and cannery row each day) enjoyed seeing...geraniums in window flower boxes and colton logo on floor decent sized room and king bed friendly staff - no a/c but there was a fan and we opened windows so not bad - tight parking for larger vehicles

Super bummed and upset to write this review. Our stay was mostly fine. Continental breakfast with somewhat limited options. No options for water without flavoring. We stayed in room 223 which the smoke detector was set off every single time we used the shower. Even bathing our children so the water wasn’t overly hot or warm to cause this. Bathroom fan useless to non-existent to mitigate this. The main reason for my review is lack of customer service. We drove in 2.5 miles for a wedding. I accidentally left a pair of shorts behind and the hotel confirmed they were there but refused to ship them or hold them for more than 30 days. Very flimsy excuse about lack of packing materials to ship them and something about UPS being unkind to them? No idea what that has to do with it but lack of customer service or trying to find a solution outside of me having to drive 5 hours to retrieve them sucks especially when we spent several hundred dollars to stay. Will not return.

For the price it was very good.
