Good food reasonably priced with large choice for all catered. Clean warm room and a super breakfast next day that was very filling for a reasonable price allin for £8.75. Would def stay again

I enjoyed my stay at the Blue Jay. The staff were all very welcoming and helpful. My room was good and the bed was comfortable. Despite the Blue Jay being close to the major roads network I found a useful set of off road paths towards the city centre so could walk around easily to get to where I needed to be. Good size car park. I enjoyed my meals in the Blue Jay especially the apple crumble and custard. I would book to stay in the Blue Jay again when I visit Derby.

Not as good as other Marston's I have stayed at. The bed was uncomfortable and too firm. They also gave us 2 key cards for the doors but only one worked. Would have thought they'd check they work before handing them over to us. I had to wait until other people staying there used their cards before I could get through each door otherwise I'd have had to go back over to the bar to sort new card. Apart from that the staff are friendly and welcoming and room was clean/cosy. Food wise there is the pub restaurant where you check in - I had the hunters chicken which was nice but there is also a carvery. However, I saw people turning up for it while I was there to be told carvery ended at 8pm so something to be aware of. There is also a McDonald's right next to it. Stayed here for 2 nights and was able to keep the same room for both nights, and the building was quiet the whole time.

We stayed one night visiting family nearby. A good clean little hotel. Room was very clean and spacious. Could not fault it. Very handy having the reataurant and bar over the road. We had a nightcap and breakfast the next morning. A great choice. Will return when visiting this area again.

Check-in staff member was very friendly and helpful. Hotel is clown and tidy and despite being next to a major road, very quiet. Pub next door serves ok food and drink, and has a good atmosphere. We had to be off early in the morning, so no idea what breakfast was like, but I liked that we could check out on line and just drop the key.
This hotel does exactly what it says on the tin. It’s not the height of luxury but was a solid, clean hotel with a comfortable bed at a decent price.

We had to be off early in the morning, so no idea what breakfast was like, but I liked that we could check out on line and just drop the key.
This hotel does exactly what it says on the tin. It’s not the height of luxury but was a solid, clean hotel with a comfortable bed at a decent price.

Ideal stop off point on our journey whilst visiting friends. Unfortunately we were put in a room where the door fron the ground floor came uo to 1st floor and it banged very loudly everytime someone came upstairs. Needs some kind of insulation of stopper to prevent this. Otherwise great.

The room door was extremely difficult to open from the inside. It was a struggle for me in 215. Also, why isn't the light for the bathroom next to the bathroom door? Really inconvenient!!

Very nice. Lovely room. The pub is good. Food was great. Really good location for Donnington Park. Mcdonald's for breakfast. All you need for a weekend.

Misunderstanding with blue jays online check in. When u check in it looks like u can get £20 worth of food and drinks credit for £10. However this is not the case. It’s really confusing and needs to be worded better. The member of staff which we was talking about it with was quite rude and made us feel uncomfortable. Tbh I did think the deal was too good to be true anyway but just if the staff member would have been a bit more understanding it would have annoyed us as much. Food was poor quality. Didn’t sleep well as right next to the door for the stairs which didn’t have a soft close. Rest of the staff we encountered were good. And the room was decent enough for what we paid. On the plus side Croissants were really good at breakfast.

The staff at the blue jay pub were absolutely lovely and so helpful ,all i have to say is probably a member of staff needs to be alocated in the hotel to save keep walking to the pub to get extra milk ,sugar and toilet roll ,oh and the doors from the hotel room doors are the most loud and scary ones being slammed for hours and hours on end
and the floor from the room above us we were room 108 is the most loudest floor heard every footstep all around there rokm so came back from weekend stay very very tired but other than a few minor things we will defo be back next year and will tell family about the pub and hotel if ever in derby

we left around 1 am as the bed was that uncomfortably firm we decided to rather continue on with our trip than attempt to sleep in those beds .
found it very weird going into a pub and standing at a little station around a corner near the carvery to go check in , found this to be a total inconvenience .
it was cheap ill give them that , and it was clean but wont recommend for a stay over as the beds are like rocks

Stayed here overnight after visiting family in Derby , check in and out easy, friendly reception staff. Very clean accomodation , tea, coffee etc, bath with overhead shower, good thick towels the room was quiet cheap overnight at £43 pub/restaurant on site for breakfast and meals, mcdonalds 2 mins walk away. Good very clean comfortable good stay.
