TOA Hotel & Spa Zanzibar is a fairly new, very clean and cozy resort. The beach isn’t great for swimming, but we knew this at the time of the booking. The pool area is nice, but the water is a bit cold. We booked a room with a jacuzzi, but unfortunately there were quite a few problems with the jacuzzi. They tried to clean and fix the jacuzzi a few times, but the water temperature would not hold comfortable (either too hot or cold) and the jacuzzi kept getting debris from the hosing. The room cleaning took ages and wasn’t completed at one time. Housekeeping came there many times a day and didn’t really respect our privacy. The room was always very clean though. The food was good and nice variability through our stay. The only exception were the dessert cakes, which didn’t have any taste (seems to be the case everywhere in Tanzania). The beach dinner was particularly nice! Special thanks go to waitress Saida and pasta chef Abdillah. They were always very friendly to all guests and took pride in their work. The snorkeling tour booked through Funzibar, that works in TOA, was great. However, beware of booking transportation through them or at least make sure you have extra time for the travel. Both times we did that, the driver wasn’t there at the time of departure. No one was expecting us at the airport when we arrived, and the driver wasn’t there either when we were leaving. Overall, we had a really pleasant stay in TOA. Thank you!

The staff saved us a sandwich because their kitchen was closed and our flight was delayed so they thought of us. That was really nice. The staff is friendly and nice. I was a little disappointed because The sea view is not really sea view. We left a message for the hotel through Expedia to see if they had an airport shuttle but no response. You can see the sea through what looks to be a soon to be construction site. The all inclusive was not in my booking. Only breakfast was included but I didn’t have the energy to argue about it even though the lady at the front desk was polite about it and asked me to check with the day staff. The cleaners are always talking infront of your balcony so I was woken up early a few times. The breakfast was good.

The beach was lovely, high tide good for swimming and low tide you can walk out for at least 500 meters. I would rate this as one of my best stays of all my abroud travels. If you see any poor reviews of this place or the staff, that person must be insane or just not down to have a good time.This was my first time in Africa but wont be my last. Thank you Toa

Toa was the most amazing hotel I have ever stayed at. Truly 5 stars. From the amazing rooms, to the food options. I had dinner on the beach twice during my stay and it was soo romantic and ethereal definitely something I will always remember. Got an amazing massage as well during my stay, I highly recommend using their spa facilities. The staff was the most amazing part, so genuine and each and everyone went above and beyond they anticipated anything I needed and was there before I could ask. As a person who works in the service industry here in New York I can honestly say that their service is the best. I can’t wait to come back with friends and family

The staff was very accommodating and professional. The facility infrastructure was ok. They lost power often but only for short periods of time. The concept was luxurious and wonderful. I'll come back for my 5yr anniversary.

The customer service at this Hotel is second to none. I am particularly impressed with the food and Beverages Manager Mr Kalei. He is very hardworking and is on top of everything. He made sure we were very comfortable and happy with the service. He is a great asset to the team. The General Manager Mr Ally was very hospitable and humble. The staff are great. Food is great and a lot of healthy options. Staff are honest. Lost my wallet with a lot of money in it and it was taken to the reception without a penny missing. I rate them 10/10

We enjoyed our stay here. This place is very clean, cool atmosphere and greta staff. My only con was that the food was just okay and there is no food, snacks or any other options available easily outside of the set times for meals. No amenities nearby but a great place to get away and relax by the pool and private beach.

We had an amazing stay for our honeymoon. Excellent service and beautiful facilities that are well maintained. Food was consistently great. Nice massages although the spa area is a bit small. The beach itself was not the greatest due to seaweed but the staff did the best to rake it up during low tide. Beautiful pools and swim up bar. Only one area that might make sense to update a bit: For the price, it was odd that there were no sparkling wine options in the all in inclusive package and that certain common beach drinks made with local alcohol were extra (like pina coladas). Perhaps the all inclusive option should include a premium drink per day, or premium drinks are discounted if you're already paying all inclusive rates? Nevertheless we would strongly recommend this hotel and would definitely choose it again in a heartbeat.

Fabulous high end hotel, modern feel, immaculate throughout with exceptional customer service. Great food and drinks (all inclusive), beautifully designed spacious rooms, lovely pool and bar on the beach. A perfect place to relax after a week's safari, would highly recommend it.

TOA hotel was much better than we were expecting, we stayed for 4 nights for our honeymoon. Loads of great things about the hotel are : really modern, clean, great breeze (minimal mosquitos), right by the beach, private beach with lots of sun beds and umbrellas. They had entertainment on a Saturday and the food was really good each night.
It’s about 1hr drive from stone town so that’s the only con if you want to be in that area but it seemed really busy in stone town when we were there so I preferred the east side with beaches.

From beginning to end the staff was VERY nice and the accommodations was was really clean. They also helped with planning day trips around the island.
