The pool and breakfast
Customers were rude to others. Banging on my doors during my stay

The size of the room was nice
1. We were there for a ball tournament in 100° heat, and the pool wasn't available for use. This was one of the main amenities that was important to us to book this particular hotel.
2. Dirty dishes in cabinets/ dishwasher full of dishes and not clean
3. Had to sign a form at check-in that if wanted clean towels to leave them at the door and would be supplied with fresh clean ones, well they took the towels and never replaced them. Following the no return of towels went to front desk and they had only 1 available towel remaining.
4. Checked in front desk, and the women were rude, short, and seemed very inconvenienced that they had to even process or help anyone with anything.
5. Asked to speak with the manager several times, only to be told that they wouldn't be in until Monday.
6. Used grilling area outside and grill ran out of gas, turned grill off but continued to smell gas and addressed front desk to turn off gas or replace tank and once more met with fierce attitude.

Was unable to enjoy due to unavailability of room upon arrival.
Upon arrival and check in, we were sent to a room that was in complete disarray. Beds off frames, bathroom tore up. Tried to give me a new room that didn’t fit my family and then wanted to charge me an astronomical rate for the replacement room and second room to fit us. They didn’t want to refund us, and due to booking through third party site, made us leave a $50 deposit on a credit card, then proceeded to charge said credit card over $400.
Had to have third party site step in an advocate for us. Ridiculous.

But, there must have been a dog or cat in the room (specifically the bed) before we stayed at the hotel. Pet allergies galore!!

It was fresh and clean, well maintained. The room smelled fresh upon entry! Parking was convenient also.
The bed did not have the best mattress but for one night, it was doable.

I've stayed in other hotels that call a room with 2 beds and a sitting area space with a pull-out bed a "suite". Homewood gives you an apartment. I wish our stay was longer.

I have noticed hotels in the past and your have curtains open. I like to sleep/take naps during the day and sunlight bothers me. But this is not the first hotel I face this dilemma. What is the purpose of 20% closed dark curtains? Unless I am totally stupid and they close somehow

I had the pleasure of staying at this hotel once before. I was pleasantly surprised at how friendly and helpful the staff was. The breakfast was great, and the hotel was clean and beautifully decorated.
I booked again with this last trip, and because of the good experience here, I've tried to book Homewood Suites for each of my stays along my way.
I have no complaints at all. Traveling alone, I requested a lower floor with an easy access to my car, and the staff made every effort to do so!

Breakfast was subpar. Not much of a variety. Never had eggs cooked like they were cooked. They were not appetizing at all. No choice of meat. No breakfast sweets. All in all it was disappointing for such a nice hotel

Rocky Mount is a hub with a LOT of hotels. Homewood Suites gets the highest scores, and this particular stay MET THEM. Very comfortable and filled with everything we needed.
It is a bit more expensive than I wanted it to be, but it really was a great stay.
