The São Vincente apartment was clean and comfortable. It provided a spacious living and dining room area, and a narrow but adequate kitchen area. There were two separate bedrooms each with its own bathroom. The bedroom upstairs was very spacious whereas the downstairs bedroom had limited space. The bed in this room was comfortable but took up most of the space with little room for walking around. There was also a third bedroom that offered additional storage space.
The living room decor did not quite match up with the online pictures. A little updating would be helpful.
As for our check-in, there was a mixup with our train arrival time and we ended up waiting outside the apartment in the dark for over a half hour. We tried to contact the property manager and called the number provided but were not familiar with the European plus sign. Eventually she came, let us in and welcomed us with a bottle of wine.
A first aid kit was missing and the toaster and hair dryer were not working properly. However when notified, she was able to bring the 2 appliances in question, the next day.
Since the stairs from the street outside up to the apartment were very steep, the absence of a railing at the bottom half of the stairs was a security hazard. It made climbing difficult especially at night in the dark.
We loved our stay in Lisbon and found a few local restaurants in the area that we enjoyed. We were a good half hour walk from the downtown area but only a short taxi ride home.

Welcoming, the host was very accommodating, and helpful with questions that we had throughout our stay.

Apartent good for 6 people. Ac excellant. Location hilly but great neighborhood. Food market below. Lots of restaurants close.
As some have mentioned, stairs are steep. But once bags in it is okay

We very much enjoyed the courtyard space, the large living/dining room, watching the trams go by, and all the restaurants only a few steps away.
We wanted to stay in an authentic Lisbon neighbourhood and live with the locals. This condo fit the bill.
Some things to be aware of are that the stairs leading up to the condo are narrow and steep and walking around the area does require focus.
We used Ubers (very reasonably priced) quite often to cut down on the up and down walking of the hills. However, if we returned to Lisbon, this condo would be our first choice.

We have just got back from staying here for a long weekend as a group of friends in their 20s for a hen party. We loved the apartment it was perfect for us, there's a shop and a couple of cafes a few doors down from the apartment. The apartment was clean, lots of space for us and well equipped and we were allowed to check in early. The only downside is the stairs to the apartment are very steep however this didn't bother us, but probably not ideal if you are older/have big suitcases with you. Thank you so much for a great stay :)

This apartment was a bit of a disappointment in a couple of areas for us. Communication between us and the property manager, Carla, was good but we would have appreciated more detail in where we could have had our driver park his vehicle when dropping us off due to the tight quarters with the tram being right outside the apartments door. Mrs. Ohlinda who let us into the apartment was a joy even though she could not speak a work of English was able to make herself understood with regard to instructions concerning the coffee maker, fridge and stove. Upon opening the door from the street to get access to the 2nd floor apartment we discovered a staircase that was almost perpendicular and very narrow. Very difficult to manœuvre with our all our luggage. If you travel lightly the stairs will not pose a problem but if you have more than a carry on it will be a trail to get it up the stairs. While going through the apartment with Mrs. Ohlinda we noticed a very strong musty smell throughout which remained during our stay. The main floor bathroom needs updating due to the mold inside the shower stall and along the bottom outside the stall. The bed in the back bedroom feels like you are sleeping on a box spring rather than a mattress. Many of the dishes and mugs were chipped and are in need of replacement. The chairs and couches in the sitting area in the living room were not comfortable. Overall we would not stay in this apartment again.

Checking in was very easy and fast. We arrived around 10PM and Mrs Olinda greeted us and gave a complete and fast round of the apartment. Situated in the heart of the old town. Tram stop 1 min away and lot of restaurants nearby.

Communication with Carla was great. She responded quickly to any questions I had. Sorry that we didn't actually get to meet in person. She did have a lady there to greet us when we arrived who took us through the apartment and explained where everything was and how things worked, showed us maps, etc. Very delightful. And gave us all a big hug when she left. Apartment was perfect for the four of us. Loved having both a living room inside, and a patio area outside where we could relax. Opened the front doors and could watch people walking on the street below from our balcony, as well as the street cars (tramS - #28) going by in both directions. Place was very comfortably decorated and spacious. (my wife and I got to use the upstairs bedroom, which was great). Area in which the apartment was located, in Alfama, was great as well. Really gave us a feal for living in the old town area. Only drawback for some might be the steep stairs going from the street level up to the apartment. But this was noted in previous reviews, so we were prepared (was great exerisize as well). Only other thing to note was that the sliding glass doors to the patio area self locked - so one could have locked themselves out. Otherwise, we LOVED this place. Missed hearing the trolleys go by after we left (but must say that the doors were very well insulated and once closed, it was very quiet inside.

Girls Short Break
We all had a great time. Carla was very accommodating and the apartment had a lot of character in a lovely area of Lisbon.
As previous reviews state, the stairs are a bit tricky with or without suitcases.

This was a great neighborhood. As easy as it gets walking in Lisbon. The tram 28 stop is very close as well as markets, restaurants and viewpoints. I highly recommend breakfast at "Magnolia" , across the street and up hill about 4 doors. Barbara, the owner was very helpful in explaining things to see as well as serving delicious food. We also had a good dinner at "O Carvoeiro". (reservations recommended). We enjoyed the balcony looking down on the street and seeing the activity and Tram. The communication with Carla was always good.
The downside has been mentioned in other comments. As wonderful as Ms Olinda was (incredible gal) she really doesn't speak any English, so communication wasn't the best, but we got by.
The steps from the street to the apartment are no joke. I had only carry on backpack for luggage, so made it up without problem, but others in our group had larger bags on wheels that almost didn't fit on the narrow steep stairs.
The biggest complaint would be the double bed at the end of the hall. It appears to be just a box spring without a mattress. After one night we had to move to the twin beds at the bottom of the stairs to the upstairs bedroom.
The bed upstairs was very comfortable.
Overall excellent value.

We spent 3 nights in Lisbon and the apartment was perfect for our needs. In the heart of the Alfama area the location is perfect and the place itself is very nice. The stairs up to the front door are a little daunting with a big bag but once inside it was spacious, clean and had everything we needed. Would certainly recommend staying here and Carla (Host) is very easy to deal with and responded quickly when we had any questions.

This apartment was great for our family of four and our father in law. It has a bedroom and bathroom in the back, a small bedroom with two twin beds in the middle and a full bed upstairs with a bathroom and plenty of closet space. It is well decorated and a nice place to hang out and watch the street below. Overall a great location and good stay!

Wonderful neighborhood, great little apartment.
I loved staying here! Mrs. Olinda was delightful, but have a Portuguese translator app with you. The apartment is nicely furnished, tv and wifi worked well. Right near the 28 trolley stop at Largo de Sao Vicente. Great little Bodega next door and lots of restaurants nearby. I have a few minor gripes: the patio door locks on its own and it's easy to get locked out there. The first floor queen bed is lumpy and a bit painful to sleep on. It would also be nice to have some instructions for the washing machine and coffee maker. I would stay there again in a heartbeat.

Alfama Comfort
Comfortable stay. Mrs. Olinda who greeted us is lovely. Location is great and very walkable. Restaurant next door was great- good food at reasonable price.

Wonderful Old town experience
Perfect old town location on No.28 trolley line. Helpful neighborhood with market next door. Loved eating on the very private deck and the luxurious towels were appreciated.
Be sure and have breakfast at The Vicinte (small café to the right) and walk down to the river for Portuguese wine. We now understand why Portugal is the gateway to Europe; wonderful experience!!

Wonderful Alfama experience!
The location is grest if you want to experience the neighbourhood of Alfama. Property is clean, well supplied with all you need. Lots of stairs to climb so some may find it difficult, but you will be doing lots of up and downhill walking. We felt we were getting the true Portugal experience so would recommend it. Grocer next door very helpful and friendly....as we found all the people we met.

Great Location
We had a great time staying in your apartment. Close proximity to some great restaurants (would highly recommend Restaurante Refugio do Ciclista), and major attractions. Only down side was the back bedroom bed needs to be upgraded. Would definitely stay again!

An oasis of calm in the bustling Alfama district of Lisbon
A well equipped apartment over two floors; we felt very comfortable there during our stay. There was air conditioning in two of the three bedrooms as well as in the main living area; vital when we were there, as temperatures were in the mid-30s centigrade (mid 90s Fahrenheit) when we were there in the high of summer. The kitchen was well equipped and the outdoor dining area was ideal (though we could have eaten meals inside had the need arisen). The steps to the (second storey) flat are very steep - possibly an issue for some. The front door opens onto the narrow pavement and the trams race up and down vary close to the flat - something to bear in mid if you're trying to manage small children. We had a hire car and found free parking nearby, at the Campo Santa Clara (some restrictions on market days). The Alfama is a great central location for exploring the heart of Lisbon, but expect to get lost at some point - it's a real maze.

Very nice apartment
We enjoyed our visit to Lisbon and were happy with our choice in apartments. The apartment was very well appointed and a great value. There was construction underway in the neighboring apartment which was loud but certainly not Carla's fault. Also, we were visiting during a cold, rainy spell and the apartment was quite cold. There were extra blankets there to keep us warm but I think stone houses are not made to hold in the heat.
Overall, we enjoyed the apartment and found Carla to be professional and helpful. Our flight got into Lisbon very early in the morning and Carla arranged for a neighbor to meet us at the apartment so that we didn't have to walk around with our bags. We were very grateful. We would absolutely recommend the apartment.

Fantastic apartment in a good location
We stayed in this spacious apartment for 4 nights at the beginning of the month. There were three of us and so separate bedrooms were all clean and very comfortable. The apartment was at the top of very steep stairs but we soon got use to that. The Alfama district is also steep but a great base for exploring Lisbon. We had a welcome pack and the kitchen was very well equipped, and although we were a little late arriving we received a warm welcome. There is a lot to see and do in Lisbon, but beware when on the trolley tram which stops outside the apartment as we had money and a phone stolen from a rucksack. We would definitely return to Carla's apartment.

Excellent Apartment
My wife and I stayed at this apartment to celebrate her 60th birthday. The apartment is in the Alfama area of Lisbon on the second floor of an old traditional building and overlooks the famous 28 trolly, which passes by the window. You climb a steep set of stairs, whereupon you enter a three bedroomed apartment, with two bathrooms and living room. The kitchen is galley style, very well equipped with all the necessary facilities. The apartment was very well cleaned and prepared for our arrival.
The apartment was excellent and after a day felt very much like home. We enjoyed the local neighbourhood with its cafes and restaurants which helped to make our experience of Lisbon so enjoyable.
I would like to thank our host for making the booking and email exchanges so straight forward.

Charming apartment in Alfama
We couldn't have been happier with our stay in Afalma. The apartment is absolutely beautiful, sparkling clean, and a nice size. We would definitely rent it again if we ever find ourselves in Lisbon. Those with physical ailments who find it hard to take stairs or walk should note that Afalma is exceedingly hilly and this apartment has very steep, narrow steps that go up to the second floor where it's located. You do a lot of walking but it's a great neighborhood and only a 10 minute walk to the train/metro station. One of our favorite restaurants was right around the corner - Pateo 13. Outside dining, great grilled sardines, sea bass, chorizo, and wine!
Thanks for everything Carla and Mrs. Olinda!

This apartment far exceeded our expectations!!
The pictures don't do this place justice. Although the pictures are beautiful, you have to actually step foot inside and experience all this place has to offer. We had 4 boys ages 9,8,6,3 and 2 adults. We all slept so so comfortably. The beds had the most crisp white ironed sheets I've ever slept on. All the beds were amazingly comfortable. Her attention to decor was top notch. Every room you went in was beautifully decorated. You even have a nice patio with a large 6 person table you could entertain on or relax on the bench. All the showers and tubs were super clean. The kitchen was modern and had all you would ever need. The owners were so kind and very very helpful with any questions about the area. He had fresh bread and milk and fruit ready for our boys because we arrived late that evening. The area is so quaint and in walking distance to everything. The restaurant below and little store was very convenient. I highly recommend this rental to anyone. This was our favorite place ever. A must rent!!
