We were looking for a great place to stay in Durango and did we find it. The location was within minutes of town and also had the view you come to Colorado for. The owners treated us like family and made sure our stay was comfortable. If your looking for quick access to town, a view, wildlife, and a cozy location then look no further!

Awesome place to stay when visiting the San Juans! Bill made us feel at home the moment we arrived. Everything was clean and comfortable. Close enough to town but far enough away to be quiet. The views from the top of the mountain are amazing. Will definitely be booking here again when we come back to Durango!

We felt like in heaven. The property is located on top of a mountain with amazing views. The hosts treated us like family and our 2-year-old enjoyed the children's books, toys and running around outside. We hope to come back soon!

I highly, highly recommend this guesthouse. I debated on whether to stay in town, or to find somewhere out in the country. We made the right decision. It would be hard to find a more beautiful location than Mount Memories. The setting and views are magnificent, the guesthouse is very comfortable and the owners were very gracious and accommodating. Staying there is a unique experience you will not forget. We are seriously considering a return trip to Durango just so we can stay there again.

Really enjoyed our stay. Only negative for me was we spent too much time running all over Durango and almost no time on the property. This place almost begs for you to slow down, stay a bit, read a book, etc. The solitude and stunning views are worth taking an extra day or two to relax and simply enjoy. Everything about the stay was perfect.

This property exceeded our expectations! The hosts were welcoming and made sure we had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Very clean and beds we're comfortable! WiFi, TV and all you need to enjoy an in-house movie was great! But the scenery topped it all. We loved all the seating options outside for our night time viewing of the stars:-) Thank you Bill and Bonnie for being wonderful hosts!!!

Well-equipped property, in a beautiful setting.

The views from this location are beautiful! You have views of Durango in the valley and the opposite mountains. It is a great location to sit outside and take in the view. The checkin process is very easy. The owners will meet you at the top of the mountain and provide you an overview of the property and amenities. It was a well stocked “barndeminium” - very clean with everything you need.

The property is what we needed, it was quiet, the only neighbor was the owners primary residence, which was far enough away. You are in the mountains, basically on what feels like a private mountain range. Only 14 minutes from downtown Durango.

Beautiful and quiet place in the tops of Durango mountains. Super relaxing get-a-way.

This is an excellent place to stay if you're looking for a quite and peaceful vacation with beautiful views. We enjoyed our stay and the hospitality of the owners, Bill and Bonnie. It was exactly what we were looking for. The home is very well kept. Had everything we needed. It is close to town and the surrounding areas you'll want to visit. There are trails that you are able to hike if you are into that or some places to just sit and enjoy the view. Had a great time during our stay!

Beautiful, quiet and peaceful guest house on top of a hill. Very calming with sweeping views. One note, the photos of the guest house don't show that the owner's home is directly above you. You can get great views by sitting outside on the many chairs the owners have set up on all sides of the house, which is great. The actual view in the house from the windows is a bit difficult as most of them are set quite high so if you are short or average height, you have to stand at the window to see the amazing views. Also, the owners have two very large dogs who are friendly when introduced. They do chase your car as you pass the owner's house and nip at your car wheels. We were very nervous that we would run a dog over which we very much did not want to do! The owners told us about the dogs chasing the car but it's still a little unnerving as you drive by to get to the guest house. Lastly, please no political opinions - owner mentioned how they left California due to the "crazies" wrecking it, right after he asked where I was from originally and I said California and my entire family still lives there. Also, we can hear you when you talk on the deck on the phone, I was aware of you discussing that we were from Boulder, "the most liberal college town in the country." The last thing I want to do is talk politics when we just want to have a nice relaxing vacation. Just a friendly reminder that there's no need to bring up any divisive issues, we can just enjoy being guests in your lovely guest house and don't want to feel like we are being judged. We absolutely loved our stay on Mount Memories. The house was clean, well stocked, and had an unbeatable view. Bill was incredibly kind and helpful, and it was obvious that extra care went into making our two children feel at home - there were toys, books, stuffed animals, and horseshoes set out for them to play with. They didn't want to leave! (Some clarity on the driveway since others have mentioned it - we have a FrontWD low clearance minivan that had no problem getting up and down the driveway, though we also live in CO so the pitch wasn't overwhelming for us.)

The host and hostess were excellent. The weather was great… cool and rainy. The accommodations were excellent. The view was exceptionally beautiful!

My husband, daughter (age 9) & I stayed at Mountain Memories Guesthouse for a week and had the best vacation. The house itself was perfectly set up with 2 bedrooms, large bath and user friendly kitchen. Clean and comfortable. The guesthouse is located on top of the horse barn/ garage with a private parking and entry. Bill, the owner, was super friendly and attentive. We were less than 15 minutes from downtown but felt like we were secluded in the mountains. The views from the property were amazing. Will definitely stay there again.

We really enjoyed our stay. The property is in immaculate condition and has fantastic views. It really gives you an idea of what it is like to live in the mountains. It feels remote but is actually a short (12 minute) drive to town. The hosts are lovely and responsive if you need anything. Durango is a very cool, historic town with lots of restaurants, shops and activities. IIRC, it took just about 1 hour to reach the Arches entrance from this house. We definitely recommend this property and would love to return.

We were welcomed by the property owner, he shared much needed information about the property and had great hiking suggestions. The place was clean and comfortable with a fully stocked kitchen for cooking. We would use this VRBO again!

This VRBO has to have the most beautiful views in Durango. The drive up to it is well worth it. This is a beautiful home and is well stocked and has lots of amenities. The mattress in the master is excellent. The folks that own the home are sweet and closely available. Two things to know before you rent Mountain Memories : #1 -The only way to get into the house is a long, steep set of steps. Anyone w disabilities, COPD, obesity. or the elderly will have a difficult time w them . #2 There is no A/C but there is an attic fan. This was no problem for us as the temps got into the 30s at night in May and it was always breezy. We highly recommend this VRBO if you're a good fit for it (and we were). We had a wonderful time on our 37th Anniversary trip to beautiful SW CO at Mountain Memories! ♥️

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Mount Memories. The home itself is clean and comfortable, providing all that you need for a stay. The views are magnificent - truly a beautiful place. The public land near the property is easily accessible and makes for great hiking. Bill is great for information on the town. And Jax and Tig, the homestead dogs, are awesome. The property is a few minutes outside of town but worth the short distance.

Beautiful setting! Enjoyed our stay but didn’t get to take advantage of the outdoor space on site, fire pit, horse shoes, etc. Will try to stay here again if/when we get back to Durango.

This home was perfect for our stay in Durango. Situated above but not far from town, the location is quiet and provides amazing views of the surrounding hillsides and local wildlife. We enjoyed having coffee outside each morning while watching and listening to the many birds. The kitchen is fully prepped for cooking and the bathroom well-stocked. The couches and beds are super comfortable. Just a great space to relax! We appreciated that Bill, the owner, met us upon check-in and gave us all the details about the house as well as tips for local restaurants, hiking and biking. The Colorado Trail is just a few minutes drive! I highly recommend this property as an ideal vacation spot.

We wanted a stand alone home to stay in while visiting with family. We FOUND it! This is a very nice, private home with beautiful views . It was so peaceful and quiet. Owners live nearby and gave us all the information we needed on the home and the area. Bill checked on us frequently to make sure we had everything. Such a nice couple! We thank them for sharing this lovely home. So appreciated having this to come back to after a rowdy day with grandkids! Very comfortable with everything you could possibly need. Loved the wildlife, too.

This is by far the most awesome VRBO/Air B’n B we have ever stayed in. The property owners were the most kind and caring people. The leasing company were also very personable and easy to deal with. So glad my other accommodations fell through because this was far better than what we would have had in Purgatory. The name doesn’t do the views from This property justice. Walking out onto the small balcony or on to the property every morning and evening was a complete stress melter for me. Did I mention the property owners were awesome and exceptionally nice to our two young children. It felt like I was staying at a place owned by family. I truly hope we get to stay here again!

We loved this place! We VRBO often and this is one of our all time favorites. Beautiful views and so peaceful. Owners are very nice, great people. Bonnie made us some 5 star banana bread. I would absolutely stay here again.

Bill and Bonnie were wonderful hosts. Offered ideas on things to do in area, checked in to make sure we had what we needed, explained the details of the house including how to keep it cool in an unexpected heat wave, introduced us to their lovely dogs, even made us some delicious banana bread. If you want a get away near Durango, this is your place.

This is a unique setting meant for those who want to enjoy an exquisitely serene and gorgeous setting but close enough to enjoy all the sights and sounds and activity of Durango. The mile drive up to the house is a steep and twisty gravel road but you get used to it (helpful to have 4WD). The owners are friendly and helpful in any way needed. Comfy beds and relaxing interior. Highly recommend this rental property for those wanting to enjoy all Durango has to offer while beginning and ending your days in a spectacular setting!
