The property is located in the Don Daeng island and the hotel picked us up by boat in Champasak in front of the island. We absolutely loved the rides on that small boat across the Mekong River and the views from the hotel. The swimming pool is beautiful and we were very happy to support a hotel with such sustainability and community support standards.
We loved everything but a small suggestion would be to have some faucet outside each room or at the swimming pool for customers to clean their feet when it’s raining. We happened to visit the hotel during the rainy season and walked in the island wearing flip flops but couldn’t find a place to clean up before entering to the room.
It would also be nice to provide room slippers

Beautiful, peaceful location on the Mekong River. Lovely pool, delicious food, and bikes/ river transportation included in the price!
bikes could use a little maintenance, test the brakes before heading out

The staff was so helpful, the rooms were just lovely, the view was spectacular. We were so relaxed the whole weekend. The beach hot pot was a sensational experience. Learning about how La Folie has helped the islands residents and developed the infrastructure and contributed to economic empowerment and education was fantastic.
The bike ride around Don Daeng was fantastic, but the last part has very bad tracks that made cycling difficult.

Breakfast was very nice and generous options. Dinner was very nice too especially the bbq which we had in our own private space. Staff we exceptional and very friendly and kind. Manager was an absolute delight and went over and above to make sure we had the best time.
nothing - everything was perfect

The Location of La Folie Lodge is breathtaking! The Mekong view, the sunsets, the gardens magical. However, equally wonderful was the fabulous Aum, who greeted us and helped organise our activities in Champasak. Her English was fabulous and she was so proactive, smart and hospitable! She gave us a bicycle torch in the evening, organised our bicycles on the boat to cycle to Wat Phu for the most perfect day of our holiday. If you are planing a Champasak vacation, Aum at La Folie is the lady to make holiday dreams come true!
With Aum on hand, anything which we requested, extra blankets, extra water was quickly sorted and therefore there was nothing to dislike.

Great quality of food.
Great surrondings with a very nice beach and view of the mekong river.
A lot of activities can be organized throught the lodge (bycicle, wat phu temple, cooking classes, etc.)
All was very good!
Just some minor things:
- Some services (e.g. the massages are a bit overpriced).
- Fruitshakes/drinks could be improved.

The weather and the beautiful views of the river and mountains
It was a poor hotel accommodation. We expected better service and richer breakfasts. Located on island with long logistics to cross the river, we expected more options in the hotel for fruits and snacks during the day. Information was difficult to obtain, and was often inaccurate. I wouldn't recommend.

Gorgeous hotel with enormous rooms, well furnished and exceptionally clean. Fantastic views and friendly staff. Extremely well kept property.
Beds were hard, a mattress topper would have done wonders. However, other beds in Laos were hard and uncomfortable so perhaps this is all that is available. Property was very overpriced, not so much for the rooms but food, drinks and airport transfers were 2 of 3 times more than they should be. When we checked out staff were insistent that we hadn't paid the full amount due, this turned out to be a dinner taken by another couple staying at the same time, they insisted my husband pay for this dinner as well, obviously he refused. English is limited, which is to be expected, but it does make paying the bill and organising transport very difficult. Our airport transfer driver turned up at the airport without our name on a board so we had no idea who he was. It's the little things that sometimes make the difference between good and excellent.

A five star experience from beginning to end, a very special place. Somehow, visiting during rainy season, we were their only guests - and we had the most exceptional experience. The island is beautiful, and the hotel has been set up a bit like a social enterprise to encourage investment in the local people. They grow all lots of their own vegetables, including their own rice in their beautiful on site rice paddy! Staff couldn't be more helpful. Highlights were a sunset river trip on the Mekong complete with snacks and wine, swimming in the pool with beautiful views, breakfast on our terrace, and a bike ride around the traffic free island. They also arranged all of our transfers including a trip to Wat Phou on our way down from Pakse - do not miss it! Thanks again to the lovely team, what a special start to our honeymoon!
I couldn't fault it.

On a peaceful island with boat service directly to it, this is a wonderful hotel to spend a few days. The rooms are lovely and most look out onto the Mekong. The staff couldn’t be more helpful. The restaurant serves lovely food at all times with a nice selection of wine. The pool is warm and relaxing. Bikes are free and we highly recommend cycling around the island. The hotel will also organise trips to the temple and also down to four thousand islands. Recommend highly.

The hotel is simply amazing. One could consider it a perfect place, yet the incredibly good service makes that amazing place even better. Hard to top that!
The hotel really does try to make every with work and provide everything a guest might request.
Nothing, it’s amazing

They aranged a scooter for us in Champasak. The boatsman brought us to this shop and helped us. Cycling around the Island is lovely. Very quiet!
