Nice and calm village. Spacy and cozy house, several places for sitting outside in a pleasant surroundings. Fresh eggs every day.

Lovely welcome by Maria & Miguel including food (and wine) to get us started. Beautiful house and grounds - very well kept and secluded. Hens we're a bonus!

Wonderful stay at Casa da Madalena do Mar. Unique house with all comfort, beautiful garden and terrace with sea view! Quiet location. Easy to start exploring Madeira, since not far from expressway. Very kind owners who take much care about their guests!

The house and owners are just amazing! Maria nad Miguel were waiting for us coming from Funchal, even late in the night, we have got a keys with instructions around house and suggestions what to do, tips for trips. They prepared welcoming gift for us - local goods and some bananas and papayas. At this side of the island was sunny all the time and the ocean is really close, so you can go swimming any time. Just around the corner you can find a interesting banana walk and near by there is a wonderful black beach. Julie and family

A beautiful old house and garden renovated with great attention to detail. The friendly owners welcomed us with loads of fruit, wine and other food and responded promtply to the few questions which arose.

We liked everything about the house! It was spacious, comfortable, clean, and beautifully decorated. Also the gardens were fabulous with banana trees and other exotic plants. The location is great for day trips around the island. Our hosts Maria and Miguel were very kind and helpful with local recommendations. We highly recommend their house!

The house is marvelous, 30 meters from the ocean with a beautiful garden. The owners are very hospitable. They really did care about everything. As a greeting we got wine and even some food, and the owner showed us where all the places worth seeing are. They even have some chickens and we could gather eggs for breakfast :). The house is very clean, cool and comfortable and the garden is amazing. And the view on the ocean from the terrace wonderful. In the evening and in the morning you can hear the ocean at the beach. Really unforgettable!

It is a huge house on two floors with several bedrooms in a countryhouse style. I was there with my 81 year old mother and she also loved it (although she said there were to many staircases for her). Big kitchen with everything you need, a very comfortable living room, a garage for the car and even some fresh eggs from the chicken (we didn‘t had to feed them though). It is wonderful to sit in the garden, having a meal there, or sitting on the terrace with a viev at the sea.
As far as I can‘t describe averything in detail here, I only can say, that it is a lovely place where we had a fantastic time. Madalena do Mar is not the centre of Madeira, but you get everywhere easily by car (what seems to be necessary there), and even in this little village there are some places where you can have a drink or a meal. I would stay there anytime again, when I return to Madeira.

Peace, harmony, beauty, lots of space, cozyness and the wonders of nature…all of this, and more, wrapped up together …this is Casa da Madalena do Mar. The beautifully restored country house exudes a wonderful feeling of warmth and relaxation. The hosts of this wonderful property are most gracious and hospitable. An extremely fine feeling for details can be felt in every room.
There are banana trees in the back of the house, majestic mountains, as well as an adjacent chicken coup with the prettiest Lady Chickens (i.e. fresh eggs every day)! A lovely Madeiran “Pleasure Tower” and an adjacent sun terrace overlook the sea. If this is not enough, there is even a hammock to relax in. Everything is immaculately clean.
By car it is only a very short drive to the neighboring villages. And the island is sooo beautiful! We loved our stay so much, that we have decided to return again next year to this amazing country house!
