really great location and price. they also accommodated my request for a room with windows which I really appreciated.

instructions for check-in weren't made clear as email advising how to check in was never sent when I called to ask for help. The staff member I spoke to was so rude and unhelpful. the next morning when checking out I found a GIANT reddish brown stain on the bed and when I asked the same staff member why there are no mattress protectors on the bed she was rude again and couldn't give me an answer.

The location is excellent, steps from the bus to the airport, close to many shops and the cosmopolitan center.

The room looked nothing like the one in the photo; It didn't have a window and you could hear everything from the next room. In addition, they said that had amenities such as a towel and shampoo (basic things) and they didn't have them. In the kitchen they did not have paper to dry the cutlery or plates, and they were also dirty. The refrigerator was not clean and smelled bad.

After hour service was slow and hard to understand over the phone. The floor and bedroom area smelt like feces. I didn’t get a silver tag for my key after hours and couldn’t get into the after hour entrance. Luckily a group had came in after me and they had a tag and let me in.

Rooms were good temp, beds were comfortable, sheets and pillow cases were clean, the location was great with lots of shops on the same street. TSB Arena, Te Papa and restaurants were only a 5/10 minute walk away. Public parking was close and was just a few minutes walk to hotel (would be good to have a bag with wheels if can, we didn't). Price was reasonable for 5 people.

The light in the bathroom was flickering badly in room J6 and there was hair wrapped up in the towel on the bed. In room J5 the door to the bathroom had to be open to be able to open the shower door, there was hair on the toilet, the pillows inside the pillowcases weren't clean, the wall plug sparked when a charger was plugged in, the fridge plugged in to the same wall plug didn't work, there was plaster on the wall which was still rough and unpainted, and the air conditioning unit was very loud all night. In J3 there were various sized pipes that came out of the ceiling and ran across the room under the ceiling, these were noisy through the night and the walls must be very thin as almost everything that happened in the room next door could be heard. In all three rooms the walls had dirty scuff marks on them in places and the floors seemed like they hadn't been properly vacuumed. There were no windows in any of the three rooms and it was a thought in the night that if there was a fire in the night we would have been stuffed. It felt more like a backpackers than a hotel and I did wonder whether we might have been better off staying at a backpackers in the first place. I do appreciate that it was a cheap night of accommodation in the middle of Wellington and it was good to have a warm comfortable bed to lay your head on for a few hours but we won't be staying here again I'm sorry.

The host on the phone was soooooo rude! Code didn’t work on the lock box to get my key, the fob didn’t work to get in the door, the furniture was poorly put together old and dented and didn’t fit the room. My flight was delayed and the host was at me because I arrived later than the planned time.

Biggest issue was no windows, don’t know what time of day it is, what the weather is etc and it’s dark in the rooms so not somewhere you want to hang out. Got overcharged by receptionist who made no comment that she was even taking payment (she just took my ID out back and must have charged my card then, charged more than what we booked it for). Nobody at reception when we checked out at 9.50am so could not dispute. Had to find the room ourselves, very confusing place shared with other businesses. Dirty, dirt on sheets, floor, shower etc. Extremely loud, do not stay if light sleeper. shower door doesn’t open or close unless the bathroom door is open. Shower blocked and flooded as soon as turned on (gross).

No place to hang damp towels, no towel rails, no hooks or anything. Glasses in cupboard hadn't been washed properly and were still wet and dirty. Reception is advertised as being open from 9am, when in reality these is no one until 2pm and no place to store baggage. Patronizing notices Receptionist is unwelcoming. No smile, no introduction, unfriendly. Plain rude.

It was slightly better than a cold concrete prison cell, All concrete, walls/floor/ceiling, broken bathroom door, no internal bathroom handle, wet and slippery bathroom floor as it's doesn't drain due to very poor installation, broken kitchen tap, internal windows with no curtain than any one in hotel could hop on and look through window, This place should not be called a 'Hotel' it's more a below average concrete dorm room. Worst hotel by far that we have ever stayed.in, Not even value for money and not that much cheaper than the hotel we left it for that was so far above this place. Will not stay here again. People checking out the same time as us where real unhappy and told that to the receptionist.

Arrived at 5am with my baby after a delayed ferry to a disgusting room then tried to get ahold of them on the after hours emergency number with no answer so left to continue my travel messages to try get the issue sorted to then be accused I stayed then took the photos but have proof of delay via email will add photos of the state of the room

I checked in by phone as I was running late, was told I'd be sent an email with the after hours instructions, when I arrived at the hotel, I only had the email confirming check in, so I phoned the after hours line, I think I woke someone up, I told them of my situation, they told me Togo back through my inbox and check again, properly, so I checked my spam etc, but nothing, tried to call customer service again but couldn't get through, we were stranded, with nowhere to stay, if you ask me Aura Hotel owe us a night's stay 36 hours later we received the email with the after hours instructions

Just what we paid for and an apology wouldn't go astray
