Brilliant place to stay

Staff and location

The location is strategic with stunning view, security and easily accessible to town. Exceptional breakfast varieties with stunning view. I looked forward to having breakfast and African tea with my friends. Overall, the staff were professional and friendly. I enjoyed my stay at the hotel as I experienced the lovely night band performance, wellness Spa and gorgeous roof top bar. I can't thank the hotel employees enough for their kindness and hospitality from the Operation Manager Davis Mugabi;FoH team- Hajarah, Steven, Patrick and Vianey; Catering and FnB service team- Salim, David, phiona, loyce. My First trip to Uganda was wonderful and can't wait to return.

Location and staff are fantastic at the Protea. Also, the layout of the rooms and the size of the rooms are very nice.

Lack of proper maintenance really shows as in my King Suite there were drains that didn’t drain, flickering lights that turned out to be a short in the wall, and they were all manner of other issues. Also, communications from the hotel through this app of promises made, were not kept upon check-in; and created a huge hassle that ruined my whole first day. I actually ended up moving to another hotel because of it.

The staff here are very friendly and helpful. I had a great stay here. The breakfast was also nice, with a waffle station and egg station, and a buffet of food

Shower pressure is good and lovely hot water.

When I arrive they gave away my room. I booked a club room with a balcony, I was given a standard room. After complaining they said the room described on the website isn’t always the room you get which makes no sense. I demanded a new room but they told me they’re completely full, I said I need my room I booked and miraculously a club room appeared. I believe they gave away my room as i checked in later in the day. The room they gave me had no city view as described, had a shared balcony, and was in another building called Eclipse. We were facing a village town, which was loud like incredibly loud parties until 5am and you’re then woken up by a chicken at 6am. Horrible. As we booked during NYE they failed to tell us they’d be celebrations etc so it was loud until 6am due to parties. Due to this they refused my guests to meet me who came from very far, as they weren’t allowing people in unless they had booked. This was extremely disappointing as when i complained to the manager they said it was a mistake and shouldn’t have happened after my guests had left. Absolutely ridiculous. My bathroom also flooded and when maintenance came they plunged the toilet and poo was flooding my entire bathroom floor. It was a complete disgusting mess. Every single member of staff is useless and rude. They have no customer service whatsoever, this place is genuinely the worst hotel i have ever been to and wouldn’t stay here if they paid me. Please save your money and stay elsewhere.

The cleanliness from inside the rooms, to the spacious common areas. They do a good job tidying up the entire hotel. The workers are mostly friendly and show dedication to their jobs. They have a wonderful breakfast with a wide selection of food items.
