Nothing at all absolute lie it was very dirty dilapidated room holes in the ceiling thick of dust everywhere dirty cups ignorant staff there removed the food menu on arrival 1 hour before cooking should stop as my parter was looking at the menu she put it down they then came across and removed it with no explanation there was no offer of breakfast or smell of breakfast the double bed was terrible so me and my partner had to sleep separately for two nights the double mattress was very cheap and springy this was an upgraded room 1 double bed 1 single I had to fold the quilt and sleep inside it as my partner slept in the small single windows totally rotten chocolate rapper down the side of the bed staind towels dust in wardrobes so had to were creased clothes no iron the beer garden was very dirty dirty ashtrays allover sticky beer and god know what all over evey tables they basically lie with new old photos from a long time ago please stay clear 0 out of 10 I have photos and videos to prove there lies sorry but need addressing absolute nightmare image wide spectrum autisum adhd ocd this ruined my time away with my partner

One of the beds was comfortable
I was only given an email address for contact and no-one answered the phone. The reason was apparent when we arrived as the “bit of work on the bar” turned out to be a whole refurbishment. The only reason we made contact was because of a gentleman staying for one night who heard us and came down to help. A man turned up quickly but our room wasn’t ready, (it’s dark by now), so he put us in a room that was. Took a cash payment, no receipt, and left. The room bore very little resemblance to the pictures. Damaged wallpaper, inadequate furniture, no remote for the tv, very lacklustre furnishings and virtually no coffee making stuff! Because of this, myself, my daughter and granddaughter had no security, no food available but it was quiet after the workmen went home.

Friendly staff willing to help sort out problems. The staff member was willing to move me to another room because of the person in the next room(see below) but it was late and i was tired.
Continuous behaviour of the person in the next room, shouting obsenities, threats, until after midnight and again from 6.30am. Disturbed another overnight stayer at the end of the corridor.

The place was disgusting. The toilets wasn't next to the room. The showers was mucky we didn't even use them. The bed had broken springs. The wallpaper was falling off the walls. The windows was shocking heard every noise going. The landing was full of broken tvs old toys etc. Most of the rooms seem to be filled with unemployed people who sit in the bar. Only reason we ended staying was because it was booked and had no where else to stay.

Location was very central to Scarborough town centre. NCP car park close by and we left the car there for the whole of our stay and took advantage of the cheap bus fares to get to Filey and Whitby. Room comfortable and adequately met our expectations for the money paid.

Never booked breakfast. We're not a fussy people, nevertheless met our needs, and we like a few nightcaps :-)

Everything. It was a rubbish tip and filthy. There was no food although the breakfast had a glowing report on booking.com there wasn't any. It was the worst place I've ever stayed in....

It was Ideally placed for our party to go to the cricket then into the centre afterwards. When we checked we we're told that they had builders and what time they started and they weren't a problem at all

Very clean B&B,it was a pub down stairs,i was on the top floor,all i herd was the seagulls which i didn't mind, saved putting alarm clock on, thankyou to all nice staff at the black lion,i will defo go back again,mr oxley

Arrived at the Black Lion and was greeted with lovely down to earth staff. Was able to leave luggage while my daughter and I went to see a show. Arrived back to be shown room..which was basic but had everything we needed. Was clean and tidy and beds very comfortable. Shared facilities also clean.
Only downside for myself was the noise level..however I'm a light sleeper anyway and forgot ear plugs..will remember them for next time. The landing and stairs could use a freshen up...though under new management now I feel they will soon have that sorted out. Perfect location and sgain friendly and helpful staff. Looking forward to coming back for more visits 😀
