Great spot, quiet area 10mins walk from town and close to the walks of South Bay. Free street parking. Good breakfast at their sister hotel across the street. Room not huge but fine for us and we’ll fitted out. Friendly welcome and plenty of local info available.

Nice period hotel. Clean, hood sized family room (room 12). Main bed was very comfortable, bunk beds were very squeaky, as was the bathroom door. The room is right at the top of the hotel so a lot of stairs to get there and only a small window which was too high to view. Could do with blackout curtains. Breakfast was at the sister hotel just over the road and was really tasty and plentiful. The hotel is a little out of Scarborough's main area and situated up a hill from the harbour. Really pleasant owner, good info book.

Check in was easy,we were shown to our room. The room was dingy and on the small side. The view was overlooking a back lane and not at all scenic or pretty, it made the room feel dark Linens and towels were good. Toiletry and tea trays average. Bathroom was modern, small again, with a shower (not brilliant)over the bath. Beds were large. I felt that there was too much furniture in the room making it seemed cramped. Internet access and tv channels were average On the very down side. There was an awful stench in the room, which we were told were the drains and that another room had complained too. Breakfast was served in nearby hotel which was light and airy and a pleasure to be in. We were only offered cooked breakfasts , finding out later that fruit, pancakes, pastries and yogurt could have been ordered. This was not given as an option. Apart from cocoa pops, nothing on the breakfast was really geared to children. 5 cereals and 2 fruit juices were on offer with far too thick bread for toast. I was given a refund for my 2 breakfasts which was a decent gesture but would have preferred a decent continental breakfast.

We only had 2 nights unfortunately. We were welcomed and shown to our room . All our options were explained to us . We chose to have the breakfast. I can honestly say I’ve never had better . The service was excellent. Will definitely visit again .

We were at 17 West also owned by the Maynard and were very well looked after in the recently renovated room 3. Breakfast in the cafe below worked very well.

Our stay at the Maynard was very good. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Nick who served at breakfast deserves a special mention. He was a good ambassador for the hotel.

Excellent value for money! Good location. Clean well decorated room. Well stocked hospitality tray and toiletries. Very helpful owner. Breakfast taken at their cafe over the road was very good and convenient for us as we like a late breakfast. Will definitely stay again and would recommend.

We stayed at The Maynard in a double room for 1 night in August 2021. The welcome by Claire was extremely warm and she couldn't do enough to ensure we had a nice stay.The room was on the first floor and was comfortable with a really nice ensuite shower room and very generous in room tea/coffee facilities. We were overlooking the front of the property which is on a quiet road so no traffic noise to bother us.The room and ensuite were both spotlessly clean, well decorated but with sympathy to the remaining original features in the room - laying in the bed and looking at the beautiful plaster moulding around the ceiling was a nice nod to the history of the building.The TV in the room was a big wall mounted flat screen of excellent quality - it was great to have a decent sized screen for a change when staying away from home.We slept very well in the comfortable bed, refreshed under a good shower and checked out with a lovely warm farewell from Claire.We didn't have the breakfast because one of our party is a ceoliac so we had something with us instead but I'm sure judging by the other standards at this property that the breakfast would be excellent.We will definitely stay at this hotel again when we are visiting our family in Scarborough.
